@JoeChrisMorris: you're right, it's the GOA tour and it should be the gig in Milan (at the Rolling Stone venue, now sadly closed down). This show was also broadcasted on Videomusic (the italian equivalent of Mtv)
I say this not in a boasting way but I feel so priviledged to have seen the Church with 3 different drummers! They were all amazing but goddammit I miss Richard Ploog!!!
Hi Joe, I believe it's the 1990 tour when Jay was briefly drumming for them. I saw them here in L.A. at the Wiltern Theater and they played this song as an encore. Fantastic show and the Blue Aeroplanes opened up!! :-)
@Nigelxman That sounds right. I saw the same show at The SDSU concert room in San Diego that same tour.(1990) And, I remember Kilbey introducing the song and giving Jay Dee props. Steve does a great job vocalwise. Way better than Bono. Even better then Patty Smithe!!
I remember them playing it live in San Diego 1990!! And years later I ended up working in an office with Jay Dee Daughtery's neice!! She couldn't beleive I knew who he was!?? Great version guys!!
Desde sus inicios The Church siempre tuvieron este gran talento de musicos y artistas al %100, muy contento de que aun sigan haciendo musica, gracias Steve por regalarnos su inspiracion.
Best songs for best covers. Thank you Patti Smith, thank you The Church... I'm really happy to watch this :-) Love and hugs from Brussels: glamstrass*
Love all their material. Keep posting. The Church one of the Greatest around.

I saw this tour. The band was not exactly firing on all cylinders at this point. Lots of substance abuse. The record they were touring sucked too.

And produced by Todd Rundgren, who did a great job by not interfering with this haunting and gorgeous song.

Apoloies, I wasn't clear. Rundgren produced the Patti Smith version.

Great! This comes pretty close to my alltime favorite Dancin cover by the Feelies....

This version is definitely the closest I've heard to The Feelies version. It rocks.
