BC108 - sounds more compressed and sounds like it has less sustain, stronger pick attacks make a nice fat, splatty sound
NKT275 - sounds slightly smoother, while the pick attack on this guy makes a more of a high splatty fuzz sound
***like always, it depends on what other gear you're using, how all of your gear complements/works against each other, what sound you're looking for, how it feels, and what you're willing to pay.***
BOTH pedals sound great! Everyone should have a Sil. & GT fuzz box!
@johnlcyborg Agree. Does not do the pedals justice. You need to plug into a cranked tube amp and adjust the sun dial accordingly. One of the best sounding fuzz boxes around though.
Well the NKT275 has the third nob which is used to limit the craziness of the fuzz (its a bias supposed to be used for different guitars- more limit on hot pickups) and it was high up the whole vid
i want a fuzz like a univox superfuzz or a mk2 tonebender for cream hendrix and early zeppelin stuff which one of these if either can give me all three sounds??
they both suck to me , sounds too thin and canny . still nothing beats a big muff for that nice thick fuzz/distortion. i had the nkt275 high gain , sold it .
the last one in the chain is the only one doing anything... the other two are just driving it. If all three were running together you wouldnt hear your signal.
Both pedals rock, but I really think both would have sounded even better (and a little less thin/sputtery) if the amp had been a little more cranked and on the verge of breaking up. I really like how GMD specifically highlighted the pedals' ability to clean up with the volume knob though! Rock on!
I have a BC108 w/ sundial and it's the best silicon fuzz I've owned (I've had a bunch!). The NKT is great into a dirty amp, but not as great into a clean amp. MJM London germanium is better than the NKT into a clean amp. Cool demo GMD.
and you're crazy, germanium is the true fuzz, has been since hendrix was rockin it! the bc108 sounds flabby in comparison, the nkt just sings on the softer settings, but the bc108 on full blast is sick and metal sounding. the bc108 for heavy music, and the nkt275 for blues and creamy solo goodness
i searched for jack black trailer, and i get this!? close enough!

Sorry, which one is germanium?
tdawg0993 1 year ago
@tdawg0993 BC108 is silicon (other 108's include Fulltone 70's, MXR Classic 108 Fuzz). Germanium clean up better with your guitars volume knob.

i'd also check out the MJM 3 knob britbender if you're still looking for a fuzz.

@gingergirl373 both can do it
micsan28 1 year ago
Jesus, hook it up to a 68 Marshall, and you'll see how good they can sound.
lekstar 2 years ago
You have to use the NKT275 with an amp that is already being driven hard otherwise they sound like this"! Ithin and brittle

agreed.... NOTHING beats a big muff for fuzzy distortion and great sustain

I dig the BC108 for the extra fuzz and sustain. But they're different and both cool.

Excellent comparison. Both are very good pedals. I prefer the NKT.

someone please tell me what is the best fuzz out ther for hendrix type stuff.
hungbiao83 2 years ago
Hendrix used both types!
The amp your using are just as important!
They both work best with a old plexi 100 on full blast.
lidesnowi 2 years ago
you've got a ton of options. Check out the London Fuzz and London Fuzz 2

BC108 seems more compressed while the NKT275 have more dynamic range and seems more midrangey.
Both are excellent indeed!!!
