These were amazing machines. The roads were unpaved, there were waiting lines for food, the premier couldn't even get a suit that fit well, and in all that poverty and rot, they made these. The Soviets must have been absolutely horrified of the west, that they would ignore even the most basic needs of food and shelter to build such amazing weapons. They are something to be proud of that is for sure, but my god the cost.
@jrkepler Yes, they were horrified... by US first nuclear bomb, by operation "Unthinkable", by US first nuclear sub, by US super-long range bombers, by US missile bases in Turkey (100mi from Russian soil). And all those russian weapon platforms were always -- an answer, not the first move. Even missiles in Cuba. Yes-yes... And about price. How about 14,230,690,803,927.01 dollars of US dept? How about 15% of Americans living below the federal poverty line right now? Proud?
@timeflex The US economy is getting better nowadays. The USA have been in depression 10 times worst than this. We came out of that depression and loaned the British our military equipment to fight Hitler. A few more years later we joined WWII to save your British sorry ass.
@Crox300 What is ... ? I cannot think of a single Russian aircraft that even vaguely resembles the F-16 in appearance. The MiG-29 is similarly "sleek" and was designed to "counter" the F-16, but otherwise embodies a very different design-philosophy. Did you mean the Japanese F2? That's a legal build, so far as I know.
The migs are incredible. The first fighter airplane with a double engine designed specificly to overpower and counter other fighters was a mig. The awesome thing is that the migs are so much faster, lighter and maneuverable than most aircrafts ever made. Not intending to start a discussion, but the american made planes were made for a more multi-task purpose, and thus of a pilot's skill, anyone flying a F14-18 should just eject if facing a mig 31
@cyborgxomutant and @dexPL however i know of 2 times the british sorta cophied the russians. the russians had created the first sst and shortly after the concorde came and also the russians had built an airplane capable of hovering before england however the americans then built there own variation of the harrier
haha, Both Russia and America steal from each other you dumbass... There is no party that is free from this.
But I tell you here and no... Russia never stole any fighter designed from the US, however the F-15, F-14, and F-35 are all fighter designed stolen from Russia by US.
The only damn thing i can't see here is Su-33 with Missiles taking off from Kuznetsov... there's an allegations that Su-33 can't take off with payload.. i look for some good photos of Su-33 taking off with Missiles from carrier to debunk that shit
Well, if this is indeed the case...then it doesn't take much imagination to figure out that there would be severe weight restictions on the aircraft. Perhaps there is a ramp launch system like the one used by the French for the naval Rafale?
No, it uses the ramp take off method. Which there is nothing wrong with... There has never been an incident that I know of where the ramp is any less effective than a catapult system.
Anyway, the ramp is faster. Catapult you can launch 2 aircraft but then have to wait until the catapult resets to launch anymore, which I believe takes anywhere from 8-11 minutes.
In 2005 I believe it was, it took US carrier 43 minutes to get a single plan in the air when it was buzzed by a Russian bomber.
Su-33 can fly with up to 14,200lbs of armament in various configurations. On 12 hardpoints..
There aren't alot of pictures of the Su-33 anyway, and the Kuznetsov is rarly in an area that requires its flights to carry a loadout. There are plenty of still images of the Su-33 with air-to-air payload on the net.
yes i have images of Su-33 being loaded with training missiles onboard Kuznetsov .. as well as Andrei Forkin's book detailing the Su-33 However the fact that there are no picture of Su-33 taking off with full armaments it's kinda intriguing... i have asked my Russian friends whether he have such images.. he said "well if you can find one you'll be a hero of Russian aviation fan"
@Sheilfalkyr Perhaps it's just budget constraints ... added payload weight means added fuel consumption which equals greater overall operating costs ... perhaps they're just trying to keep peacetime expenditure to a minimum. Not actually carrying the armaments, after all, doesn't keep you from simulating them in mock dogfights, etc..
Blackbird SR 71 top speed is 3600km/h, MIG 25 top speed is 3490km/h. MIG 25 is fighter, high altitude interceptor. Blackbird is just spy plane and can't carry any weapons.
And if a group of fighter jets and bombers in formation come at your country then you have to fire a nuclear missile into the formation and burn them all in a fireball over someone elses country.
@MrBloodCloty Oh I see. You are here to pick a fight.
Don't you understand that if you use nuclear weapons ANYTIME in war, for whatever reason, the other side can use theirs?
In other words, shoot down a plane with a nuke, or sink a sub with a nuke, and then the ICBM's will fly man.
That's reality. You had better believe it.
Also, where do you get off saying that I think that the current wars of the U.S. and Britain okay? Stop being so prejudiced man. Their tactics are disgusting.
Dont you understand that any country with nuclear weapons can use them at anytime regardless.
In other words if youre sitting in your home picking your nose, and then the ICBM's will fly man.
Thats reality. You had better believe it.
2nd if someone shoots down a plane or a sub with a nuke no one will know its nuke. What they going to do send ou scienists with testing equippment into the middle of the battle field. You dork. lol
@MrBloodCloty Talking about nuclear weapons is offensive and scary for a world already suffering from them &the world is in a no way back scenario to disasters. Talking about it especially in this particular time only describing your deadly intentions, &what’s in your conscious. &that is not cool.u aim is catastrophe &this is not human. do say it because u have it,u're just saying it to scare the public.Plus earth atmosphere is damaged, any more of these say hello to more disasters u small mind.
Nuclear weapons arnt that bad unless you live in a major city.
Going on the stats from the largest nuke, as long as youre 35km away from the blast you'll be fine.
If you used your brain youd realise my way of looking at nuclear weapons is far more civilised.
Youre negative veiw sees population rise to a point where the world can not grow enough food. To a point where humans are in fact climbing ontop of each other like bugs in a bowl.
@TheBlackSpider82 Sure thing, AIM-9 starts with acceleration much higher than any fighter plane (20Gs). The question is -- will it's engine run long enough to reach MiG-31 at all? Even if MiG will fly at mach 2.8. Simple calculations show that for tail fire even for AIM-120 (with it's mach 4 speed) it will take approx 2 minutes to reach... theoretically (!) reach MiG-31. AA-12 fired from MiG-31 at 80km will do it's job during that time too, so interm targeting is questionable.
These were amazing machines. The roads were unpaved, there were waiting lines for food, the premier couldn't even get a suit that fit well, and in all that poverty and rot, they made these. Poseidon500 1 year ago
@Poseidon500, mig 31 top speed does not count.
Mig 31 is Russian interceptor fires nuclear missles.
It fires air to air nuclear missiles which destroy formations of enemy aircraft in an airburst nuclear explosion.
all USA fighters attacking Russia in aggression would be destroyed in a nuclear fire ball somewhere over eastern europe.
Duhhh.
Speed doesnt matter in attacks on RUSSIA.
syrian mig 31 would have to fight back without nukes.
