  • Does it have to a fantom x? Will this method work with the fantom g6? I really need some help with this...

  • wow...this is kool info my friend!!! Thank you so much!!! I get fruity loops 10 this week and I am glad your showing this help tutorial on connecting to the Fantom X nas I have the F-x6!!! Thanks again!!!

  • Why do you have to record the audio from the midi track track in FL?? Isnt recording the midi enough?

  • wait is the the fantom g6?

  • Where is the video for recording midi into audio in fl studio? This video helped alot, but I got a sick beats thats stuck in midi format. Help please!!!

  • Dude I did exacly as you sad but id didnt work for me, no sounds come when I play on fantom g8 or fl...?

  • how do you record more than 1 instrument??

  • i need to try this because i just got my fantom g6 but i still use fruityloops but by all means the g6 is da best roland gear out

  • I try to set up multiple midi out channels in FL which should output to different channels in layer/split. First of all it seems that the volume and pan knob left at one midi out channel is actually the general volume and panning. I suppose i can fix it with configuring a controller for volume and panning apart for each channel.

  • (I work with a fantom-s but the principle is the same). The problem is that i want to have the full register of each channel at my disposal and not only the split parts, is this possible ? Now i can only send data on one midi out channel for all channels in split (depends in which key range i play) or if i stay on a current part which always plays even if (you can put the receive switch off).

  • Changing the performance number is possible via midi out (for user performance bank msb 085 Lsb 001-064), but i also can't change the part voices on each channel.

Never had problems hooking up a tyros or roland grooveboxes, but this seems to be tricky.

  • Absolutely awesome, bro! Now I just need to figure out how to record the midi out audio like your next video promised.

  • Thanks for the vid, it helped a lot. All I am confused about is how to set the audio options up in FL studio. All my songs made on the fantom are being played back with the sounds from FL studio.

  • wus up man followed ur vid on connecting the fantom but there is a lag between. any thoughts on why thnks

  • While you are recording into FL there will be some latency! But after the track is recorded into the software, on playback, everything should be in sync!!! I get the samething with Pro Tools and my Fantom X6.

  • wow this is a very helpfull video , i just bought a fantom s not too long and it was so overwhelming.

how ever i have been making beats on Fl for about 4 years so ive mastered FL pretty good .

so when i bought the fantom to step my game up , i thought i was F*cked and had to start all over with learning .

BUt this video showd how to combine both , what a relief,

    props to you buzzhawg .

    keep up the good sh*t

  • I need help bad. When i do this and i press a key on my fantom and the intruments repeats itsself over and over. I dont know how to keep it from doing it. Do you know how to fix that problem?

  • It sounds like you have a drum or FL instrument channel selected / highlighted. Make sure that you have the MIDI out channel selected or when you hit a key, you will hear the drum or FL VST sounds play. If in the Channel setings box, the "use loop points" is highlighed, sometimes that will make the instrument or sound repeat itself over and over.

  • @ADdaVilleBoy You could also have the "arpeggio" button activated on your Fantom. Make sure that all functions on your Fantom are disabled.

  • Ok, for this to work, all I would need is my fantom, my laptop and a USB-MIDI cord to connect the fantom to my laptop, and then im set to go? I dont need an external audio interace or some kind of VST to make this work do I?

  • of course you do. Midi-DATA not AUDIO. for any audio to be heard you have to have your fantoms main output running into one of your soundcards / audio interfaces inputs.

  • i have my audio inputs from my fantom g connected to my tascam interface hooked up to my laptop. what are the correct settings i have to set in the mixer in order export tracks with sounds from fruity loops and the fantom

  • it wouldn't be right to not thank you...thank you.

  • I have followed all the instructions and when I create the midi out track and hit a key on my fantom, I cant hear any sound and the keys on the channel setting just keep flashing like I'm still hitting keys. Anyone have any idea what the problem is?

    Thanks.

  • Again, midi = DATA .. NOT audio. You have to have 1/4 inch audio cables coming out of your fantom and going into your soundcard or interface. to hear anything. You also have to have the audio set up correctly in your FL studio AUDIO OPTIONS.

  • This video really helped. Now I'm playing with my Roland and FL Studio. Hopefully, will get some rap here and there. :) for GOD! :)

Thank you for your video. God richly bless you.

  • Finally someone who knows what there doing. I've been stuck on how to get that to work through FL. I knew that you were able to get the sounds to run through FL like a Patch, But I was never able to get it. I've been just recording the sounds from Fantomx8 through my Audio Interface. Thanks to you.. This is Alot better and Easier to change notes and Pattern. Post more Vidoes..!! Thanks

  • man...when u puttin out the audio video??? had th fantom since 06 and still dont know how to do this shit.. lol help a brotha out man

  • does it work the same for the Juno G?

  • You have to set that up as a midi message being sent by the fantom. It should work automatically with sounds that have vibrato but if not then you have to do it yourself.

  • can i plug the audio cables in my mbox for the sound? how would i do that?

  • 1/4 BALANCED cables from the HeadPhone out or MAIN 1 - 2 OUPUT on the back of your Fantom into the Mbox MAIN INPUT's.

  • When ever you get a chance can you post a new video with sound. cause i can see alot of people don't hear anything from the Fantom X6. The proublem with my FLS is that it does not detect the Fantom X6 midi.

  • Disisions, are you using the fantom's MIDI PORTS or USB? If you aren't using the USB , it will not show up as a Fantom. It will show up as the MIDI from your soundcard or audio interface.

  • What USB do you use to connect to Fantom X6. Cause the Fantom USB is different with the PC USB Ports. That is why i thought you connected from Fantom X6 midi to PC USB.

  • Oh and I tryed this way, it isn't working, the midi messages are being sent from FL to roland, but the roland doesn't do A THING! I even put the things on remote and slaved it...

  • This way is only for using the fantom sounds. To use the fantom as a controller you have to set the port number to something and in your Biohazard, set that port number to the same thing.

  • Biohazard/ sytrus /sawer / poizone don't have a port number.

  • yes they do. I have all of those VST's and do it all the time.

  • How do you make it so that you use the roland fantom as a midi controller, to play FL instruments? Like if I use toxic biohazard, and I press roland keys, it makes toxic biohazard sounds?!?!

  • how do you save these settings....im using the fantom g6 and eveytime i turn it off i have to re-do all these settings.....is there ayway i can save them??

  • hi, i really enjoyed it but could plz do one with protools le.. i'm stucked here

  • Lookn foward to that next tutorial....good lookn out on the info....1

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I've been searching for this info since I bought my X6 in 2005. I follow everything, and it all works. Only thing is when I render it to a track, there is no audio on the mp3. I see you have talked about making that next tutorial. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the info!

  • i followed all the steps and the only problem i am having is that i cant get the sound to come through. If i load a fruityloops samples i can get my keyboard to play them through midi, but when i load a midi out track i dont get sound only signals. Is it something im missing? I really need to get this fixed because it is so much easier using fruityloops and the fantom together. another thing how do you know what you fantoms telephone id is

  • Remember MIDI = DATA .. NOT AUDIO. You have to record the audio into FL Studio. The MIDI is basically giving you the ability to quantize and set up the panning / velocities in FL. After all of that, you have to turn the MIDI into AUDIO by recording it.

  • got any other tips on recording audio... i do the steps but when i do it audio recorded sounds distorted and low.. any tips on wut the problem might be: rec. interface or something... hope 2 see audio tutorial soon.

  • Is there a delay in when you hit the keys to when you hear the sound? Is there stuttering during playback? Either way I would say its your interface. You have to have something that can support a latency of 10ms or less. It could also be that your levels are too high when you record. Make sure that your audio signal in your mixer isnt clipping (turning red) when you play a note.

My "How to record audio" tutorial is coming soon. Next week more then likely.

  • yeh there is a delay when it's under record audio mode... i hit the key N it's a split second or so late b4 i hear the sound.. then when i hit record N play.. it sounds choppy when it's recording the midi.. like it's stuttering. finally get an sound wave at the bottom but it sounds distorted like i said or just really bad audio.. really lookin' forward to the audio tutorial.. any other tips on what you think i should do? really appreciate yourhelp buzzhaw, thanks.

  • It sounds like you aren't using ASIO drivers. You have to have a soundcard that supports ASIO or if you already do then you have to set the Latency down lower. It should be called "BUFFER SIZE" or "LATENCY". Anything higher then 10-12 ms will produce a "lag" between when you hit the keys and hear it make the sound.

  • What soundcard / interface are you using?

  • Hey buzzhawg... still trouble shooting with it. Any word on if you comin' out with another tutorial for audio and stuff. like my last post i get sound just through channel 1 port 2 for all midi channels. is this normal? And can you show us how you run everything when your making a song on fl with x6 sounds. thanx for all your help, really appreciate it. trying to get all my equip. 2 work with each other n still new on what i'm doing so these tutorials really help alot. thanx buzzhawg.

  • Change the Transmit setting to off. I cant remember exactly what it is called but it is "TRANSMIT" something. Turn that off and when you change fantom patches it will stop moving channels on FL studio.

  • You have to turn the "Transmit channel data" to off in your fantoms MIDI options.

  • In order 2 rec. the actual sound from x6, not just control the piano roll thru keys, do u have 2 do something else. rec. audio? how would u go about doing that. i lay down a trak using x6 then wen i switch sound on x6 so duz wutever is playing on fl7. not sure if i even have it set up rite bcuz i can't here both sounds 2gether unless my mixer knob is set 2 the center. i'll try da 2nd channel thing but how do u get the actual x6 sound permanently stay on fl as a song. thx alot. ur a gud producer

  • after you do the one midi track, select an insert for "AUDIO RECORDING". I use Insert 10 on the FL mixer for audio recording. With the insert highlighted, on the top right is a drop down that says "input". click that and select the device that the audio from the fantom in going into FL with. Now play a key on the fantom and see if the meter on the FL mixer moves. If it does you then click the lil pic of a disk at the bottom of that insert & a SAVE AS box appears. Name it and hit save then record

  • i got sound to work now when i add a 2nd and 3rd midi channel to work, but they all have 2 be set to channel 1, all of them do in order to hear anything. will this effect anything? they all have2 be using the same sound. can't switch sound 4 next trak becuz then the prior midi channel will switch as well. will there be a tutorial for audio recording? i couldn't find where it said audio recording on fl. all i saw was audio clip. good lookin out buzzhawg.

  • when do we gonna see the next tutorial for the audio settings ??

  • Im workin on it right now. I didnt realize so many people needed the audio portion as well. I apologize.

  • ok thanks !! that's great !! I'll be waiting for it ;)

  • i got it 2 work thru usb. the only way i get sound is if i set my interface mixing knob 2 the center. if i switch it 2 either side then i cant hear both @the sametime. meaning x6 or fl sounds. then when i add a 2nd channel i dont get sound from da 2nd n i set it 2 same port as da 1st. once u add a x6 trak n rec. it will it auto. save on fl or duz da x6 have 2 b on 2 produce dat sound in da future? do u have 2 rec. audio next like u talk about? not sure about how 2, i'm new 2 this. thx buzzhawg.

  • This is an example.

FIRST Midi channel = Port 1 Channel 1

SECOND Midi channel = Port 1 Channel 2

THIRD Midi channel = Port 1 Channel 3

and so on and so on.

The port stays the same but you have to set the channel number up one for each one for each one you make. An easier way to do it is to get the midi into the program then record it to audio, THEN erase the midi data and change the instrument..record the midi, Turn it into audio and so on and so on. Only do one midi at a time then do aud

  • Thanks alot for posting this.. i've been trying to do this for forever.. what type of cable do you use to make all this happen? please let me know. would really appreciate it. i need to get mine set up like this.

  • You need USB if you are using the USB port on the Fantom or Regular midi if you arent. Then for the audio you need the 1/4 inch instrument cables to go into your mixer or computer.

Midi = DATA not AUDIO. You have to have audio cables to hear sound.

  • i have a midi cable adaptor going from midi ports in & out of the fantom and the otherside is usb into my comp.. i did all this but the fantom seems 2 just control the sounds from fl studio. and the 1/4" jack going into my m-audio interface. the fantom doesn't show up on the midi list of fl studio. am i missing a step or cable? will this adaptor i'm using work? do i need to install anything from the fantom onto my comp. thanks for the help buzzhawg really appreciate it, you got heat.

  • If its an "adapter" made by a third party and not just a regular USB cable then you have to either find the name brand of the USB adapter or teh device it is plugged into your comp thru. For example.. I have a "Turtle Beach USB MIDI ADAPTER"... It shows on my FL as "TURTLE BEACH 1x1". I also have REGULAR Midi cables from my elec drums and in FL that shows as "M-Audio Delta 1010 MIDI" because they plug into my soundcard.

  • thanks man dis helps out so much. i jus dont have an audio jack to go to my computer. i dont have a soundcar either jus regular computer sound. thanks again tho i really appreciate it. im ready for part two

  • that's what i plan to do with my motif xs

  • bra im so fuckin mad i sold my fantom x, this is exactly what i was trying to do, do you remember me askin you how to do this, so many people said i couldn't do it but i knew it could be done, i just didn't know how. FUCK!! but im about to try to get the fantom g soon, but nice vid though.
