  • I can't believe as much as I followed the Cathedrals throughout the years I have never heard of this guy. He wasn't awful but I don't think he fit well with the quartet. I think he would be great in a solo ministry.

  • I'm sure there are other songs this Kurt guy can sing really well but he should've left this one alone. Just my thoughts.

  • Still, way better than Ernie's version.

  • I'm not trashing Kurt but I dont like him at all on this song, I dont know if he's trying too hard or what but he sounds horrible here, I know he's a good singer.

  • didnt like this version with kurt young. that song belongs to danny

  • I believe Danny Funderburk worked very well ithe Cathedrals; Ernie works better with his own group, Signaure Sound.

  • And now we all know why Ernie was called up...

  • OK i agree this Kurt guy is good but i have never heard of him before and i am one of the cathedrals biggest fans. Who is he what happened to him and he is better that Ernie but Danny is the best Cathedral tenor of all time. And whoever thinks this Kurt guy is better than David Phelps is drinking to much holy water

  • One of my favorite Cathedrals songs and I think that this is the absolute best version of it that I have heard. For those that are trashing Kurt, when you can sing perfectly and are appearing on the Dove Awards. Let me know, I want to buy your cd.

  • What happen to kurt young?

  • hes in owasso OK singing at jubilee worship center in tulsa OK and hes my dad

    :)

  • Really? If so, could you please get more of your dad singing on here. I like his style.

  • Ouch, that's pretty painful. Interesting video though!

  • If the Cats had lowered the arrangements by a half to a whole step, then Kurt probably could have sung the songs.

  • You are right about that, but the Cats were the Major Leagues and those highs and lows are what kept them on top. Kurt Young did a good job though.

  • What are the two first lines of the song?

  • i think its "if i had hope only in this world below id be covered with troubles thered be no place to go

  • Thank you so much, that was killing me lol. This is great btw.

  • Can´t say I didn´t like, because he does very well at solos...But, This song is absolutely Danny´s song, no one does it better!!!

Like ''Moving up to gloryland'' is Kirk Talley´s one.

  • well...i like they way he sounded on this song...when it cracked in the 1st verse...i like the way it sounded...but Good Lord...the dove awards =**(

  • Wow...it sounds painful for him. I'm not meaning anything disrespectful but he seems to be out of place with these legends.

  • kurt was on the cathdedrals for This old house i believe, he broke his voice at the end.. Other than that hes a great singer!! praise God!

  • There's actually a version of that song on YouTube where his voice doesn't crack, and he sounds great on it.

  • THATS MY DAD!! kuRt young!!

    im ZACH YOUNG!!

  • That's cool. I feel his pain though. My voice cracks sometimes when I try to hit the really high notes.

  • I'm sure Kurt felt out of place being the only one with different clothes in this video.

  • thats the point GVFans

  • Don't know why they didn't wear different clothes for this. Or they could have had him get some new clothes. I'm tellin ya. They shoulda recorded an album with some of the high notes toned down so your dad could hit them, because he's a really good singer.

  • Your dad actually dounds good when his voice cracks a little bit. Jason Waldroup would actually do it occasionally.

  • I think Kirk Young has a really nice voice. Not a real powerful one on the high notes per say but he is good. What ever happened to him? Anyone know?

  • He's a youth pastor of a youth group called APEX at Jubilee Worship Center in Tulsa, OK.

  • i do actually believe kirk was one of the cathedrals best tenor singers, but i would still put danny at the top, but i do love kirk's singing he is another tenor that can't be matched, most of the tenor singers that sung with the cathedrals are authentic and can never be copied, minus kurt lol

  • i am sorry, but yes danny was by far the best tenor they ever had, no one could match him in singing, especially how he put his emotion into every note, and i find it hard to believe that kurt is a tenor singer he really can't hit any high notes, he is probably a better lead

  • Like I said before, I'm a baritone, and I can hit those high notes flawlessly (the ones in this song).

  • Kirk Talley was their best tenor singer in my opinion

  • what ever happened to Kurt?

  • He sang for six monthhs with the Cathedrals then left. He did that because he couldn't hit the higher tenor notes he was required to sing. Every time he tried, his voice cracked.

  • I do have to say that my voice is a natural baritone, and I can hit higher notes, but I still do have problems on This Ole House (Kurt's voice cracked right at the end.).

  • shouldnt of did this song after danny left. Danny at 52 today could still do it better... kurts ok.

  • I hate to be so harsh, but it's hard to believe that he could have ever been hired. This is just terrible. "..but his voice didn't crack?" It was cracking all over the place. How about the 1st verse..."there'd be NO_o-O place go". And nevermind the pitch and tonal issues. Whew.

  • You could barely hear it.

  • It was also probably the sound mix. They had the same problem at the Dove Awards.

  • Well, not really, but the high notes sure didn't sound too hot.

  • Those are some radically high notes Kurt's singing, but his voice didn't crack.
