  • Really impressive, both emotional and very precise following of the numerous tempo and character nuances of Debussy. I just have slight criticism of the accompanist simplifying the measures 160-162 of the RH, but I know that this is really tough place.

  • What? He missed nothing! This guy is the REAL DEAL - no one touches him. I only hope I can live long enough to see him develop as he grows into a man and what he can take the art of clarinetistry to in the next 20 years. He already surpasses at age 14 what most pros are already at. He will re-write the textbooks. Thank God for him... Please come to America and play - I will be in the front row, applauding like a teenage fool...

  • I have been a clarinetist all my life - this young man is the real deal. He is the future of clarinetistry - thank God for people like him. What a musician! Kim - you rock!!!

  • bravo!!!!

  • the acc. is no pushover, she is tough on the keys, very delicate, and precise. Great at acc. another musician.

  • NICE! BRAVO!! How do you single tongue so fast???

  • I think he can move as much as he wishes.

  • So I just read the description and he's 13.

    Which is ridiculous.

  • For his age (which I'm willing to guess is no older than, say, a freshman in college... but I'm sure he's younger) that's so phenomenal. Like, that kind of stage presence is really impressive.

There were some parts of his interpretation that I disagree with, but it's all personal taste ^^

  • @DarkLeprechaun89 13 actually.

  • Oh please teach me clarinet. I (tried to) play this my sophomore year and it sounded...bad. I ended up switching to a weber concerto instead

  • 13 year olds dont have emotions... he needn't move this much.

  • @RJShaw0 Wrong, never say never.

  • @RJShaw0

13 year old kids don't have emotions? don't make me laugh omg

  • BRAVO!

  • I have no words...This is beautiful!!!

  • I love to read the pedantic comments of the "masters of the clarinet of youtube"

  • A shame that the piano is out of tune...

  • He's amazing.

His tone is great and his tonguing is impeccable.

    He will definitely be someone.

  • Great performance of this piece man!

All of your inerpreations are great.

You really are a great inspiration to all young clarinet players.

Keep up the great work, you are going to make it far!

  • I laugh at the people like ipmoic that talk about being better than Han and not having anything as good or better than how he plays.

  • Very good clarinet playing(for a boy that old...), and nice accompagnement by the pianist. Always some details to improve but globally it is good, and he should become one of the best clarinet players in a few years, to my mind. I'm french and Debussy is very important to me, and you managed to catch up the spirit of this music.(except the part at 3:32, too fast, even if it is black notes we still want to hear it, Debussy is not demonstrative, it is music, so it's too fast..). Cheers ! good luck

  • that is a lucky clarinet right there

  • I love the mysterious vibe in the beginning!

  • Not so well. You throw phrases. It is not musical. It is necessary to hold always the tool some time after a phrase. As all very nervously. Trills nervous, passages nervous. And the top sounds sound squeaky

  • Не очень хорошо. Ты бросаешь фразы. это не музыкально. нужно всегда держать инструмент некоторое время после фразы. так же все очень нервно. трели нервные, пассажи нервные. а верхние звуки звучат п

  • Amazing, just amazing! I'd like to be shown a better recoding on YouTube. No, not 100% technically perfect (compared to this 99.5%), but the whole package with musicality.

  • Woah Han, you're getting big man! I like the new shiney suit... Tell your dad I said hey!

  • Woo-Ri, take no notice. This man (probably) is completely wrong. Your touch, technique and feeling for the music are all there as well as sensitive accompaniment. He and I must be hearing different music.

  • This is an amazing performance, especially since he is so young! I am very envious of his talent and I feel as though I should just quit because people like him (especially for his age) make my past 5 years of playing clarinet worthless! Bravo!

  • Since I ran out of room, i'd like to add that Mr. Kim's breath control is enviable and that I admire the fact that he has a lovely, original concept of the piece. This is not unheard of in a young player, but it is notable none the less.

  • Mr. Kim is a remarkable clarinetist and quite the showman with his stage theatrics.

His technique is impeccable and thank goodness he shows he's human by missing a couple of notes from 7:40-42!

I notice he pulls the barrel out and, in general, he is slightly high in his pitch. I don't care for his "laughing" staccato, but that is a personal bias. His tongue is very fast.

Hard to see why he won't have a brilliant career.

Bravo Mr. Kim, and your beautiful accompanist must be quite an inspiration!

  • @ipmoic i agree with you in every way, but i wouldn't have even noticed that he missed the notes if you hadn't mentioned it! Keep up the amazing work, Mr. Kim.

  • very cool <3 you have a great sound... the song is really beautiful :)

  • anke Debussy è una cosa davvero soprannaturale fare certi pezzi a 13 anni

  • i am reminded that he's only 13, and this level of performance for this piece is otherwise laudatory

  • Great! Very nice!
