Hi Mary - Grandpa died when I was 11 - I was in the house at the time and remember if vividly. But I also remember vividly what a wonderful grandpa he was. He loved spending time with us kids. He took walks with us in the woods, teaching us to whittle whistles from birch branches. He always had a little bag of licorice nibs for me, and it is still one of my favorite candies. What a gentle man he was.
Yet again you amaze me with your talent....wonderful....you put people to paper, not just their faces but their personality as well....to quote the good doctor: "It's alive!!! *evil laugh*" ;-)
wow that is rly awesome. u rly got an awesome talent. if i could, i'd draw my grandparents =[. but i tried, and it didn't come out, too good. i hope your grandafther enjoyed this art! it's rly good
They are called Conte Crayons. To me, they are kind of a mix between oil and chalk pastels. Not moist like oil pastels but not dusty and difficult to detail with like chalk pastels. They are my favorite pastelish medium to work with. You should be able to get them at any art supply store.
Yeah you should they are awesome. And it's good to just start with the three shades: white, black, and a brown or red. Once you get comfortable with those then it will be easier to use a wide range of colors. This drawing took me 60 minutes
