It's werd that some people think that having seven gables has some sort of magical significance. What if the number of rooftops on the house was like 4...or 6?

The house I live in is called the "House of One Gable".

And the really funny thing is that the Turner-Ingersoll house actually has 8 gables! Hawthorne just liked the sound of 7 better, and it was never actually supposed to depict the house literally.
