Just curious, how is it a contractor's fault that a woman can't keep herself from getting raped? We're talking about a war zone, after all. What the hell is she doing there in the first place?
Also, if the contractor provides "special treatment" to the woman for the purpose of protecting her from rape, then can the contractor get sued for treating her unequally?
I never liked ambush interviews regardless of how much I disagreed with the point of view. That Thune and 29 other Republicans voted against this bill is inexcusable and shows how far to the right the GOP has moved in recent years.
With that said, Thune handled the ambush adroitly, never showing any obvious signs of irritation and displaying a level of even temperament similar to Barack Obama's.
It'll be interesting to see him and Ron Paul duke it out for the Republican nomination in '12.
none of this will matter due to the lousy state that the country will still be in 30 months from now. Much like how people overlooked Obama's numerous shortcomings, the people will overlook this when they elect him in a landslide over Obama.
Because he is Evangelical, he is dangerous for world peace, international and regional stability (especially in the Middle East) and reconciliation of different cultures and religions to work in cooperation. It's de facto that he will be brainwashed, so as a European, I am saying good riddens Thune, the international community does not need you; go lead your Christian-right, Evangelical and AIPAC brainwashed lobby
There are two men in this video. One is listening, and the other is waiting to speak. No wonder you're trolling the halls of Congress rather than putting that JD to use.
His Lordship doesn't have to talk to you, peasant plebe reporter. You reek of commonness. Are you a tourist? Cuz Lord John of Thune clearly (by the look on his face) thinketh you smell like one. Off with your limbs and out with your innards! (Now you've been drawn and quartered. Good day!)
Mike, I'm no fan of yours, but I'll give you credit- you were very respectful here, and brought up fair points.
This CLEARLY was a politically motivated amendment that would have damaged arbitration, but I like the way you handled yourself. Props from not-a-fan.
No, sorry, the amendment was apolitikal. The only politics being played is by those such as Thune. He opposes the EPCA because of the, quote, "egregious" arbitration provision but magically does not mind allowing government contractors to use arbitration to prevent rape victims from having their day in court.
The Dirty 30 are projecting their own reasoning onto their opposition, because they know how wrong they really were in voting against and it's the only way that they can twist their logic around the choice to make themselves feel better.

I hope someone rapes his two daughters so as to take his vote and stick it in his ass and his wife ass afterward!
He is a brainwashed Evangelical, what do you expect to protect women's rights?

"Will John Thune be bringing forth the narrow ammendment then?" That was a good question with no answer from Thune.

The GOP, as ever, on the side of corporate America.
These defence contractors rape women, and also rape the US taxpayer via cost-plus.
The Republicans and Teabaggers who screamed about Acorn are very silent about this.

Thune should run for POTUS in 2012.
Anyone that defends rape like Thune is a perfect gop candidate.

Notice how Thune laughs callously when Mike mentions that rape victims were allowed to work alongside their abusers.
Sicko.
