When I did this, I did it to a really old Felicity doll that I got off of ebay. When I went to go untie her neck strings the neck strings were so old that they broke, and I really didint want to go out and get candle wicking, but then I rememberd that some dolls dont have neck strings they have zip ties. So I went to my garage found the perfect zip tie and finished fixing her lose limbs and put the head back on with a zip tie!

Thanks for the idea. Instead of using a hair elastic I used a plastic cable tie. I was ready to take my doll to a doll hospital, so thanks for showing how to do this and saving me money.

heyy, I have Samantha, Molly, Kit, Kaily and a bitty baby named Elizabeth. I cleaned all my dolls with magic eraser! Then, bought a wig from Ruby Red Gallaria for my Samantha doll since her hair was ruined and it was the same one you got! The dark brown curly hair! I got it in the mail yesterday and put it on. It was a challange but, I was able to get it on and she looks great! I am also going to fix my dolls loose limbs tommorow! Thank you so much for your help and you.

@xodanibubblesox == Part one of answer... Okay, I did this with some worry as well. First off... NO FEAR HERE. Second, the American Doll Hospital is way too expensive for what they do, and the fact is, it should be covered under warranty if they were in any way respectful of their (expensive product) which they are not, and it is not. So, THIRD... Do It Yourself. The video is DEAD ON. It took me all of 15 maybe 20 minutes.
@ginagurl4 Part two of answer below... THE TRICKS... Here are some TRICKS not mentioned in the video -- which by the way is great. 1) When removing the stuffing - be sure to put it in a box, so you can give her 100% back. 2) When you use the elastic bands, use strong quality - if they are fraying as you stretch them, they will break inside her in no time, and you will just have to do this again... (No permanent damage so don't worry).
@ginagurl4 Part thee of answer below... Tricks continued... 3) Make sure your legs are EVEN after you wrap the bands. If not, push the bands up or down accordingly to make sure she doesn't have a limp. 4) When returning the stuffing, work in hand fulls and shove on in. Once the doll seems 'full' but you have tons left, take two or three fingers in a 'scout solute' and shove them inside along the body-cloth interior - this will compact the stuffing downwards, making more room.
@ginagurl4 Part four... Tricks... 5) Don't forget to push stuffing into her hips as well - but this will only stay after her 'initial fill', so you will accomplish this at the time of the scout salute in step four, which you will repeat often. 6) When stuffing the shoulders, first do the ARMPITS, to prevent the stuffing from displacing when you begin to move her arms.
@ginagurl4 Part 5ove... Tricks... 7) Putting the head on backwards gives you more room to work, without getting her 'hair in a knot!!!' so to speak. Also be sure to KNOT her back, just not to the point you can never get it out. Tying a bow will not hold, so don't try it. 8) Finally, when tying her head, have a friend, push down on her head as she sits in your lap, between your legs. This will free up both your hands for tighter tying.
@ginagurl4 Part 6 OF Tricks... Now I am a DAD (Ginagurl4 is my little precious) and the stuffing may have been easier for me, but I think any 9 year old has the needed strength to push down hard enough to compact it, so do not worry about it. Pushing the head down, in fact took the most effort, which my ten year old (nurse) took charge of.
So that seems like a lot of steps, but in fact it isn't. It is as simple as:
1) Untie knot. 2) remove head. 3) Remove Stuffing. 4) Twist elastic bands around string between limb protector cap and brass clip. 5) Replace ALL stuffing. 6) Place head back on and push down, while returning knot. 7) Play. -- I have to redo one leg - the replacement band was frayed. - Maybe Ginagurl4 will film me. Look for us tonight.

well to every one who is asking. it is not a bad idea to do this first so at least you can try to save some money. and if you mess up you were going to send it to the hospitable any way so it never hurts to try.

heyy, I have Samantha, Molly, Kit, Kaily and a bitty baby named Elizabeth. I cleaned all my dolls with magic eraser! Then, bought a wig from Ruby Red Gallaria for my Samantha doll since her hair was ruined and it was the same one you got! The dark brown curly hair! I got it in the mail yesterday and put it on. It was a challange but, I was able to get it on and she looks great! I am also going to fix my dolls loose limbs tommorow! Thank you so much for your help and you.

@xodanibubblesox == Part one of answer... Okay, I did this with some worry as well. First off... NO FEAR HERE. Second, the American Doll Hospital is way too expensive for what they do, and the fact is, it should be covered under warranty if they were in any way respectful of their (expensive product) which they are not, and it is not. So, THIRD... Do It Yourself. The video is DEAD ON. It took me all of 15 maybe 20 minutes.

@ginagurl4 Part two of answer below... THE TRICKS... Here are some TRICKS not mentioned in the video -- which by the way is great. 1) When removing the stuffing - be sure to put it in a box, so you can give her 100% back. 2) When you use the elastic bands, use strong quality - if they are fraying as you stretch them, they will break inside her in no time, and you will just have to do this again... (No permanent damage so don't worry).

@ginagurl4 Part thee of answer below... Tricks continued... 3) Make sure your legs are EVEN after you wrap the bands. If not, push the bands up or down accordingly to make sure she doesn't have a limp. 4) When returning the stuffing, work in hand fulls and shove on in. Once the doll seems 'full' but you have tons left, take two or three fingers in a 'scout solute' and shove them inside along the body-cloth interior - this will compact the stuffing downwards, making more room.

Tricks... 5) Don't forget to push stuffing into her hips as well - but this will only stay after her 'initial fill', so you will accomplish this at the time of the scout salute in step four, which you will repeat often. 6) When stuffing the shoulders, first do the ARMPITS, to prevent the stuffing from displacing when you begin to move her arms.

@ginagurl4 Part 5ove... Tricks... 7) Putting the head on backwards gives you more room to work, without getting her 'hair in a knot!!!' so to speak. Also be sure to KNOT her back, just not to the point you can never get it out. Tying a bow will not hold, so don't try it. 8) Finally, when tying her head, have a friend, push down on her head as she sits in your lap, between your legs. This will free up both your hands for tighter tying.

Now I am a DAD (Ginagurl4 is my little precious) and the stuffing may have been easier for me, but I think any 9 year old has the needed strength to push down hard enough to compact it, so do not worry about it. Pushing the head down, in fact took the most effort, which my ten year old (nurse) took charge of.

So that seems like a lot of steps, but in fact it isn't. It is as simple as:
1) Untie knot. 2) remove head. 3) Remove Stuffing. 4) Twist elastic bands around string between limb protector cap and brass clip. 5) Replace ALL stuffing. 6) Place head back on and push down, while returning knot. 7) Play. -- I have to redo one leg - the replacement band was frayed. - Maybe Ginagurl4 will film me. Look for us tonight.
