I heard someone say that the Police played "fizzy" rock--(for non US Americans, that's the carbonation in a drink); Stewart is the "fizz" Nothing Sting has done on his own (though perhaps fine on its own merits) has the tingle of the Police.
sting wrote songs that stewart and andy made classics. sting has made no secret he used both to get to the top and then dropped them at the height of their success. i think stewart and andy are now using sting...
I think that is a very interesting yet true statement you made since stings solo career is not exactly going any were at the moment right now people want to see the police.
Thank you lazer, I agree. Steward Copeland (Police's drummer) started the band and wrote many of their earliest songs (few get the airplay they deserve). Stewart wanted them to go punk but Sting wanted to do love songs, so that creative tension was what made the band great
why are u telling me this did u mean to reply to someone else? i mean im not trying to be rude, but im really confused how what i said led to this reply lol

Stewart Copeland is undoubtedly one of the greatest drummers alive right now. He is extremely versatile, fast, and his playing is some of the cleanest I've ever heard. Sting is overrated as a vocalist though in my opinion...he really is not that impressive live. His instrumental he is the opposite...underrated, extremely. there will never be a band quite like The Police again IMO.

Sting never realised he had such a good drummer in the band that was his main problem, the second being he's turned himself into a pompous "Frasier" character!

The great jazz drummers, from Max Roach to Roy Haynes, Billy Higgins to Elvin Jones, are hard to compare with, but Stewart Copeland is indeed the most interesting and exciting drummer rock and roll has ever had. Can't wait to hear more of him on the 2007 tour.
The guitarist is Andy..and yeah..its kinda funky, the tone. I think he is great..but I never got some of his tones. Maybe that's why he is in the Police, and I am not.
They shoulda had a little more practice for this event and wish the guitar had some flange too..

They're one of my favorite bands. The performance wasn't shabby.
It's funny that some of the bands that get inducted has their worst performance at the award night. Ha-ha! (Check out when Van Halen was inducted)
