  • Additionally, (while I've allways loved this track) there are many technical artifacts in this mix that aren't up to critical scrutiny. The orchestra timing lags behind the basic performance suggesting possibly two hand synchronized tape machines were used to expand track capacityfrom 4 to 8 trcks. Engineers used to sync a pair of 4 trck recorders w/their hands to speed up and slow down the revolutions of each n time. If one listens carefully u notice the beginning of vocal lines are missng.

  • Theory but having lived (and sometimes died) during that era of limited tape track capacity in 4 track studios of that era I'd surmise that the vocalists were sharing a single mic & adding additional vocal layer over dubs live as the engineer sub mixed the previous 3 tracks down to two tracks. To improve qlty. new parts were mixed/added at same time. At the 51 sec mark on lyric "are" a vocalist felt they had miss-timed and swears... thinking that their "flub" had ruined their entire effort.

  • What's up at 0:51? Did someone in the studio cough or sneeze?

  • @38ddkelly I had the original LP (yep, vinyl) and that noise is indeed on the track. No idea why it was left on there.

  • Very smooth. It has Maurice Gibb's influence alright.
