  • I love andy rooney, but, this is all soo easy for a rich man to say...

  • Interesting comments on the many things taxes pay for but .... lets not leave out all the public money wasted on aid to countries that will never benefit. Monies thrown about to buy friends. Well, not exactly friends of course. I'm pretty old now and for most of my life I've witnessed billions over the years, tossed into the african rat hole. A bottomless money pit. The white man's burden, among many other wasteful places taxpayer money goes.

  • The country started out on the right foot with 0 income tax. However, when the people allowed income tax and property taxes this allowed government to take ownership over everyone & the fruits of their labor & land. They own you and "allow" you to keep a portion of your income. They own your land and lease it to you. It's all a joke and no matter how much more they tax, they continue to spend more and compound their debts. The system will collapse eventually...

  • Part 2: so basically for the most of us taxes are for a good thing. What isn't a good thing is when government squanders money and/or doesn't spread the tax burden fairly amongst the populace. If you want to complain about something, that's what it should be.

  • Part 1: The general idea of taxes is (as many have said before) to provide the government with funding for roads, schools and hospitals. It also funds police. Some people may not like police because they want to break the law, but in general if you believe in the premise of live and let live and you don't have a private army, you like the idea that there are people that will defend your rights in time of need. Taxes also pay for street lightinga and welfare if you're out of luck.

  • Excellent idea!

  • Open tax records? Ok! First, tell us how much you made last year.

  • Mr. Rooney, I would ask you to read the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, but you would probably complain about that, having to find your glasses and all, so here is a snipet: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated[...]"

Also though, the Amendment that created the IRS was never legally ratified. Google it!

  • What I don't understand why we're required to pay our taxes. Why it's illegal not to pay our taxes. Shouldn't we be entitled to at least half of the money that we make?

  • @Seattlecarnut

The logic is that the government institution does everything to provide our environment to us, the land, the security and defense, public works. Therefore it deserves to be paid for its efforts

  • @LeeMIlby Does it?

  • @Seattlecarnut

Oh i don't know, they're claiming a lot of history just to raise money. I don't think that an institution is greater than any individual

  • @LeeMIlby I agree with you there.

  • Thanks for the video o ye King of Fucking England. Choke on a fucking biscuit you sorry commie sack of shit.

  • @destructovision someone doesn't want people to see he's on the "haven't payed list"

  • @iangenet29 hope ya die liberal scum!

  • @destructovision the felling is mutual Fascist, deliverance hick.

  • Spread the wealth? The man sounds like Obama.

  • Mr. Rooney what I pay in taxes and my wealth are private. They are most certainly not pubic information nor shoyld they be. A capitalist economy demands private overship. I own my money, not the government, the poor, or the community at large. It's my business and no one elses.

  • i love taxes, yay!

  • We have open taxes for everyone here in Norway. Believe me, everyones hates it and itæs not what you want.

  • But in the US there is no legal requirement to pay fedral income tax. In fact its in the US constitution that earnings are not taxable by the fedral government.

Did you not see the Aaron Russo film?

  • Comment removed

  • you might want to look at the 16th amendment

  • the US. Supreme Court said that the 16th Amd gave "no new taxation powers" to the Congress. That Amd is an "enabling clause". Do your research. Read the Internal Revenue Code, Title 26 section 7701 - this is the area that defines all the "terms" used in the code. The code is controlled by the terms and their definitions.

  • does anyone see in the 1040 form instruction booklet that if you give a return that such a return and information thereon can be used AGAINST you in court? By furnishing a return, you are waiving your 4th and 5th Amd RIGHTS!

  • The WORST idea ever!

Ever hear of right to privacy? We still have rights as of 4/30/09

The Fair Tax is private and progressive and taxes all people including illegal business and tourists.

It is none of you damn bushy eyebrow business how much tax I pay.

Please retire because I relished your segments but your are no longer relevant.

Thanks for many good segments over the years.

  • God you sound so paranoid about nothing. Random people know what you make who cares. It will never happen but if it did, it wouldn't matter.
