omg people. the term disc jockey was coined back when turntables where the only tools used to play and mix music at a party. now dj technology has advanced and you can function as a dj without turntables. deadmau5 makes his music in the studio and in live performances. he mixes his music and plays it live. and he DOES have midi controllers with jog wheels on them. so deadmau5 is a producer AND a DJ. BOTH OF THEM. it is possible to be both at the same time.
@asspuebs69 not sure if you're trying to insult him by saying electronic artists have no talent, but when he performs, no, he does not play musical instruments. he uses controllers and software tools to make/mix music. However, I know for a fact he can play piano, and I'm willing to bet he can play more. Just because the music is synthetic doesn't mean it's easy to make by any means, this is coming from a person who can play guitar, trumpet, and produce electronic music.
