@tolipotua12 Well you need an amp with similar power and quality for HD600 / HD650 as for HD800. :P Remember HD650's were the best headphones in the world just a few years back. :P
Hey hifiguy i have made a youtube acount just to talk to you lol so please answer, i need some new headphones, i have the senhiser hd380 pros and there nice, not gr8 they lack bass and clarity i feel for my needs, i use them for making music only on my pc, guitar playing, from thrash metal to classical, i hear that with most high end headphones they need to be driven but i asume they get drove fine through an audio interface? ie focusrite saffire. What would you reccomend for me? £250/300 max TY
@lantyboy696 Focusrite saffire should be able to run any headphones to decent levels, but real headphone amp will help you. Its hard to get headphones that will sound equally good with trash metal and classical for 250 pounds. I'd probably get Denon D2000 or Beyerdynamic DT880 if I were you, since they're kinda best all rounders for that money. Sennheiser HD600 or HD650 wont work with metal or some very fast music.
@derbigpr500 Hi mate thanks for getting back to me (nice somone could bother there arse lol) yeah i was thinking about uping my budget as it happens, i've narrowed it down to three head phones now but cant decide for the life of me, sony mdr z-1000, beyers T70 or Grado 325is, what do you think?
@lantyboy696 No problems, I'm currently upgrading my headphones as well, so I'm researching anyway. :P
Hmmm, I tried Grado's like 2 years ago, they sounded very good with rock, but they are very very bright, high frequencies are too loud in my opinion, I like darker headphones that are nice to listen for a long time. Also, they were VERY uncomfortable. I haven't tried Z1000 or T70, but out of all the headphones i tried in the past week, its like this: 1. HD650, 2. HD600, 3. D2000, 4. DT880.
@lantyboy696 But again, I think for you the Denon's D2000 will be perfect since you dont have an amp and listen to all kinds of music. They're probably the best all rounders, they are in your budget and they're very easy to run. Also, they are extremely comfortable. After all, they've been ranked as Top 10 best headphones available on market and best in their price range by headroom(dot)com. The only downside is that they're closed headphones, but they dont have that "in your head" sound.
@derbigpr500 Thx again, i've looked them up, good price and gr8 reviews think ima just go ahead and get them was thinking about maybe the step up? D5000's can get them for £350
@lantyboy696 D5000 for 350 pounds? Wow....thats thats pretty cheap, they're around 900 euros in my country. If you have money, get them, they can only be better than D2000. :P
@hifiguy528 yeah its super balanced. Before I got a proper amp, I felt the bass was underpowered. With an amp it can get punchy when it the music demands but definitely does not overpower the music at all like some other bass heavy headphones can
@50CentInPampers Yea a lot of people think its carbon fiber, but its not. Its just plastic painted to look like marble. You can find a lot of pictures of these with paint chipped off and its just made of black plastic. Not even HD800's are made of carbon, there's no point for it.
Sweet. I still prefer the HD600's box and the fake marble design on the headphones itself, though I've ordered the HD650. Maybe one of these days I'll grab the HD600 as well for collection's sake. Hah.

@lantyboy696 Cool, just make sure you check whether you will be able to run D5000's without amp, but I think they're not harder to run than D2000.

These are not good for iPod. You need an amp to get the most/money worth in sound.

I'm looking for a high quality pair of headphones to use with my iPod. Would you recommend headphones like these for that sort of use?
