@KoudZ Assuming it's in some way similar to my G35, it will idle around 1800-2000RPM until it warms up a bit. After that, idle is typically 800-1000RPM.

Catalytic converters are only efficient when at a certain temperature. So for a cold start, the engine is trying to warm it up as soon as possible to get to the optimal/required emission standards as soon as possible. The RPMs will drop to normal idle speed once this is achieved.

its for emissions, it heats the catalytic converter up to its optimum temperature quicker so it will work more efficiently. euro 4 i think requires emissions to be at a certain level one minute after start.

when its cold they tend to rev higher, my rav4, when its below 10deg will start up at almost 2000 and once at regular temp will idle at mybe 650-750 rpm
