Froyo is a faster firmware, which means, FASTER PERFORMANCE.

Both processors are 1GHz, and the Desire has more RAM. I really doubt that it wouldn't be any faster than the Galaxy S. This Desire was probably packed with applications and that usually slows down any phone for that matter.

Even with Froyo on Nexus One/Desire and Eclair on Galaxy S, the Samsung phone wins always in this game. The Galaxy S has the PowerVR SGX 540 Gpu overclocked according with some sources. Maybe therefore can get the 90 millions of polygons/sec. The Galaxy S it's and will be always superior to the Two HTC phones as in Cpu as in Gpu. Only with the Quake 2 demo we can see how fast and fluid is the game with Galaxy S graphics.

It is a demo. Quake 2 may be diff, but back in the day when you started up a game and didn't play immediately it would show you a demo of the computer playing the game. The device still has to struggle to render the game just as if you were actually playing.

Some of you may be unfamiliar with this because world of warcraft doesn't do it. However, it's likely not a video.

people complaining about lack of flash, i have this phone and it does really well in low light - i took a picture in a dark club and it came out pretty perfect. in most situations an LED flash would barely help anyway, it cant provide enough light to make the shot a whole lot better. only in very dark conditions would it help.

The difference is the GPU. The GPU in the Desire is really slow. The one in the Galaxy is about 2-4 times faster.

This Samsung may look good, but you will get the worst support there ever to exist. You won't get no updates, no nuthin. Atleast with the HTC (official Google Android partner), you will most likely up to date OS updates on most of it's Android Fleet.

I'm not an HTC fan, but I know I'll get the most out of their phones then Samsung any day.

Frankly, I live in Canada and refuse to buy another Samsung phone especially since I bought the original Galaxy and they have yet to release any software updates of any kind.

Sure, I can root the phone and install my own os, but then I am forced to go one roundabout way to accomplish an 'update' and the 'update' may not work perfectly.

Allegedly the Galaxy S gets the support (maybe that's what S stands for), and anywhere else, the Galaxy gets updates, but in Canada and Croatia, we're S.O.L.

since the GPU in Snapdragon devices is basically just a rip-off of the ATI Evergreen(HD 5000) and it's heavily underclocked, and it can go theoretically almost up to original clock speeds! Of course of the cost of battery, but this is "fixable" too!

And btw yes this test was probably done by a samsung addict, the GPU is 1,5x faster on froyo OC'd performance mode :)
