the 1.8 turbo has 150 hp. the audi with the same 1.8 gets 180 hp and so does the golf with the 1.8. the jetta doesnt have the same intake, headers or exhaust as the golf and audi 1.8 and its tuned differrently. all u gotta do to the jettta is exhaust and intake and get it tuned it will make 180 hp no problem.
volks got the 1.8t with 150 and 180 hp but the only difference between the volks and audi engine is, the audi engine forged....and if you have an 150hp 1.8t just get it chipped by unitroic you will get very close to 180hp
Auto tech 260 cam, euro spec 8lb fly wheel, 16 valve clutch, stage 0.5 motor mounts, getto intake, tt cat back, and lighten crank pulley. Soon Ill be putting in a 276 tt cam and some head work.
I have a 1997 2.0 with the Magnaflow cat-back exhaust. I put the exhaust on and i noticed a difference. The 1.8T's come with 180hp from the factory. The 2.0 has 115hp from the factory. With a couple of basic bolt ons like exhaust, high-flow cat, header, cold air intake, bigger throttle body, custom tuned ECU you could be up near the hp level of the 1.8T's and VR's. the only downfall is that all of that is at least a grand worth of parts.
What's with all the 2.0 hate, keep in mind the extra weight of a turbo, intercooler, oil lines, wastegate and various other piping and valves and that sort of thing make 1.8 heavier than a jetta with the 2.0. a 2.0 with something like 138 hp or so would be equivalent to the 150hp 1.8. They're real torquey though so I don't if that ratios correctly but you get the idea...
so you just added a magnaflow muffler and only a magnaflow muffler to your jetta with 2.0 l engine and this is what it sounds like? if so im highly impressed
@awosterman i got a magnaflow and i drove it around for a few days with the resonator on but once i got it removed, i noticed a slight change in hp and the sound is way better than with the resonator on
-2? for what? I have a 2.0 it is slow. there all slow. and too expensive for the power gains for a turbo. I didnt say it was a bad car.. just a slower one.
@awosterman yeah vr6s are the shit but if you put add stuff on the 2.0 like a supercharger then its not so slow anymore but its too expensive so i would have just gone with a vr6 instead
get the autotech one with the magnaflow muffler..its a 2.5 and just straight pipe the resonater...oh and run a test pipe...(NO CAT!!) it sounds amazing :]
The title is "muffler" is that just the muffler or is it a catback...?I want to order something for my 2.0 jetta and that one you have sounds really nice.
doesnt sound bad. check out my techtonics exhaust when u get a chance. (btw, i have an intake, high flow cat, and downpipe now) good luck with the jetta!
how much did it cost?

Im in the middle of fixing my 2.0 up and on the exhaust right now. I have a video up of that and my intake. Check it out and comment

How much power do you think you'll get out of your car after all that?

you won't see more then 150hp in a n/a 2.0 with just bolt ons.
jstanothapinoy 2 years ago
i guarantee you could.

ive seen an ABA 2.0 with a 16 valve head on it built up that had 170. non turbo. sounded insane as well.

thank you smartepants for telling us something everyone already knows.

2.25 exhaust on a 2.0L is all you need. It's not a turbo, so it doesn't need a bigger exhaust.
DoraggPvp 2 years ago
wow 2.0's sound almost as good as VR6's

Never dynoed it, not really sure. I honestly didn't notice any gain in HP, just a more throaty sound.

vr6's sound cool..but they're also pretty slow..unless supercharged they're nothin to brag about

Or if they're swapped in to an old car they don't belong in. :)

Yea for sure but still better than a regular 2.0 slow.
