you could opt for a pocket dvr if you want to record ship pov footage, their pretty cheap like $40, but I suppose the wireless cam setup helps you in other ways
@iknowmy3table Nowadays I use an RC Hero onboard camera. Not wireless, but much better quality, and fully waterproof. A few other videos I've posted were taken with the RC Hero.
@mom352 That's called "barrel depression", and the best method depends on the situation. In most cases, a simple RC servo will do the trick just fine. In some cases, you may opt for fixed depression, and in other cases you may opt for more advanced systems.
The rule is that cannons cannot point above horizontal. Given usual engagement ranges, though, we're much more interested in aiming them down to put holes below the waterline. Many battleships (including the one from the video) have methods of depressing the barrels.
I have mywife,my son,my daughter and myself fortunately we can have a team of four. By the way I'm thinking about the camera type and the seperated control systems.
It's a nice beginning of the onboard rc ship battle really. May I commence about some details? Let's says if we put few cameras on each ship and control the ship by a captain and control the guns by gunners and yes the cameras for the captains must be 360 degree panable and the range of the cameras must be propered.
The biggest limiting factor in this game isn't ships, nor is it accuracy. It's skippers. There are so few people who play this that getting a decent battle going is hard to do. So... you're suggesting that we, who are already lacking the people... should reduce the number of ships on the water while simultaneously reducing the action for each participant?
There's actually no rules against what you've suggested, so you're welcome to try. But you'll probably have to supply your own crew.
Nah it's glare alright. I had the same problem with mini wireless cams.
You need to shroud it with something - like you see on professional cameras. Perhaps you can make a shroud, especially if your camera has a thread around the lens.
Actually, building a ship costs $400 to $1500, depending on how many cannons you arm. Once you build a ship, it only costs about $50 per year to maintain in fighting trim, even if you sink at every battle.
about 50 secs into the film, It looks like your scharnhorst is starting to sink, did you manage to repair any damages it was inflicted? I managed to aquire a 1:125 scale fletcher class destroyer. not r/c but motorsed
Yeah, my battleship got sunk. The funny part is my camera ran out of film shortly before it took the plunge. After sinking, I flushed the electronics with alcohol and they were all good. Normally I would also repair the holes shot in the sides, but in this particular case, I sold the ship instead. The new captain is building new guns in the hopes of sinking the other guy instead of the other way around.

at your local model warship combat club. Google-search "RC Naval Combat" for further details, as well as local clubs and info about joining.

can you buy these?
igenther99 2 years ago
Yes, you can buy a used ship that's been combat-tested from other club members. If you want something new, however, you'll have to build it yourself.

Yeah. I think it was caused by glare from the sun, but I don't know for sure. Since it wasn't my wireless camera, I can't do any tests to find out.
