9800 GT is pretty much exactly the same as the 8800 GT except for the 55nm process compared to the 65nm. So yeah just go for the 9800, it's available for less than $100 now.

What do you mean? What the cooler does? It means that your card will run so much cooler between the fan and backplate as well as the smaller nm on the die means you can overclock push this card much much much further then any standard 9800 will go.

lets make things clear. the GTS250 is the same card as the 9800gtx+ (just a new name to continue existing in the new gen), the 9800gt is the same gpu as the previous 8800gt. in total framerate, the gts250/9800gtx+ is about 25% faster than the 8800gt/9800gt. the Q8200 is a nice cpu and will greatly work together with any gpu. try to get the standard versions of the gpu's (no extra memory/factory overclock), it's much cheaper and if u want, u can overclock them yourself to even higher clock speeds

Generally speaking, just making the gpu's cores run faster. say a gtx 285, its core clock is at 648 mhz but you can overclock via a utility such as rivatuner.
