It is simply impossible to release a captive bred tiger (or pretty much any other exotic animal) back into the wild. They don't know how to survive. So why would anyone want to support an organization like this? They purposely breed more and more captive tigers. Not for conservation. But for profit. Where do you think all their cubs go that are born every year? Only a small fraction are kept at the temple. The rest are sold as "pets" for someone's collection or viciously killed in canned hunts.

Are those metal rings there to prop them up for the photo opps? I think the tigers are too close to humans, and the relationship does not seem fair or positive when one party is in chains. It is hard to judge from these videos.
If watching these animals being pulled around and tormented for photo opportunities bothers you..then I probably wouldn't trust this place. At the end of the day we all must make our own conclusions as to what we think is going on.. I personally think that there is an awful lot happening at this place that they would rather we don't see.. and I wouldn't trust it.. but thats just me.. Enjoy your trip to Thailand :)

I agree. I've seen smacks on the nose used on tigers by zoo caretakers. And I know the same trick applies to horses (on the bridge of the nose, not the muzzle). It doesn't hurt them. You need little tricks like these to keep large animals in line.
until i saw these video's I had no idea the animals were abused. I went there this year and was assured by the tour guids that they were very well treated. Being a bit gullible I believed um. ! tiger actually went for me and i had to jump out of the way quickly and they still wanted me to and go back sit next to him.
In regards to the tiger temple in thailand the care for the wild international CWI undertook an intensive 2 hour investigation into the temple and unravlled cases of illegal trade animal cruelty and visitor risk.
This is disgusting, these wild animals are drugged and de-clawed, fed on putrid dog food and confined in tiny cages for 21 hours a day. Can these stupid tourists not see these are just abused animals! They display classic pacing and have no enrichment what so ever. Tigers, just like all wild animals belong in the wild! We have no shame.

These tigers CAN'T go back to the wild. They've been raised by humans, and it's difficult to reestablish hunting instincts.
And for Tash, everything you said was wrong. They're fed boiled chicken which is supplemented with dry cat food to add in the minerals lost when the chicken is boiled. By the by, the chicken is boiled to prevent the tigers from coming into contact with any avian flu. Sure sounds quite the opposite of mistreatment to me.

Trus me the tigers had their claws, fangs, were nice healthy and plump not skinny.
Were pretty lively play fighting each other.
Most were loose. Think the livlier ones were on the chains... common sesen and some took turns,... ie saw one loose one swapped with a chained one.
common sense... 5 tigers loose at one time easier to handle then 10
If druged no play fighting...
And if pissed then stay away...
