I remembered this RnR HoF induction. They had some good inductees that year. The Mamas and The Papas, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and I can't remembered the others.

Too bad we will never see these three together again since Denny(2007) and John(2001) are gone now and Michelle is the only surviving member of the group.. Actually I don't remember if this was the last time Denny, John and Michelle sing together.

But it was good to see them together again.

So good to see the Mamas and the Papas 1998 Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame induction. Such a shame that the late Cass Elliot was not there to experience the honor with the rest of the group. It would have been amazing to see Cass singing at this ceremony with the other members. California Dreamin' was the perfect choice for this event. Such a classic!! Outstanding updated sound and version here. Instrumentals sound excellent and contemporary, especially the keyboards. Congratulations to all.

Bud Shank passed away in 2009, and played up until shortly before his death. I saw him many times at the Blue Wisp Jazz Club in Cincinnati in the 1980s. Too bad no one thought to invite him to this event. His cool West Coast jazz flute on California Dreamin' defined the sound of the Mamas and Papas almost as much as the voices themselves.
