Sorry, just a gut reaction reply there. I was thinking about it last night after the reply and should have said that you should be commended for the effort. Fan film's usually have to work only with friends and family, not professional anything. So I will commend you for trying, I don't knock any of the special effects, but the acting was terrible and the dialog to wooden. Weapons firing was much to exagerated, reactions where over the top to the situation, etc..... con't

And the plot / writing just didn't work. Fan films can be great (special effects, props, costumes not withstanding) poor / untrained actors can be made to look very good with a well written script ( and lots of editing, lol).

I withdraw my old review and submit anew:

"A" for effort: Costume designe was excellent, effects and props are well above what most people should expect in a fan film of any kind.

"F" for fail: Plot, dialog and waaaay to much over acting.

All in all, better than nothing

I'm a big fan of the Critters franchise. Although I do own original krites from the films, they do not appear in my film due to their age. What you see was made for this video. I have a "making of segment" on my channel that illustrates how the critters were made.

You can't put just anything on Youtube. If you're looking for the 1986 film Critters, I believe only movie trailers are allowed on Youtube, not the actual film. Also, sometimes fan films like "Critters the Return" are hunted down and removed from Youtube as well.

Right... Grenades are shrapnal weapons, not fire/heat weapons, but it makes it more dramatic. "Real" movies do the same thing.

The baretta has a sound, and the M-9's have a different sound. I snuck in some other sounds to try to add more "volume" to the scene. BTW - all the military guys are the same guy duplicated a couple times.

Boy, good questions. I made this about 7 years ago, so if memory serves me right, I believe I used iMovie 2, Final Cut 1.1, and AlamDV2. These programs are all obsolete, so don't go looking for them. The puppets (except for 1) are custom, hand made pieces.

I have a question: Why are the critters depicted as such a threat? They're easy enough to kill and they just seem to be the equalvilant of a very bloodthirsty dog. They don't seem to able to cause major damage, say to a city, much less the world.

One of which is called "The Trial of Cyclops", but Marvel studios has already attacked me for copyrighted material, and Youtube shut down my trailer for it. Strange as there is plenty of copyrighted material, not sure what made my trailer such a problem.

I play all the Special Op's guys, and both special op voices are mine as well, as with the critters, and just about everything else. In order to differentiate the special ops guys, I decided to give one guy a southern accent. The acting is actually supposed to be bad, or funny, or so bad it's funny. I don't take my video work seriously enough to take offense to some good feedback.

Critters the Return is a fan made short film based on the 1980's Critter's film. I own a rather extensive collection of critters. One was made by New Line Cinema as a production manufactured puppet featured in Fangoria magazines, one was actually made by the Chiodo Brothers for the actual films, another puppet is by an FX artist. I made the critter "balls" myself. This short film features critters from the actual movies to fan made productions.

The helicopter was a CGI element pulled from a flight simulator video game. Most of the models thru out the whole thing are video game character pulls and then integrated into the video. The final part to Critters the return as a lot of that going on at the end.
