As those of us who are blessed to be with our families celebrate and give thanks..., let us remember in our prayers the homes that have an empty chair at the table and also offer a special prayer of thanksgiving and ask God’s Blessings for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, whose service and sacrifice will, we further pray, make the world a better and safer place. And a very special prayer dear God, for those homes that have an empty chair that will forever remain vacant.
It made me cry!! All the money in this world can't buy "Freedom". It takes a real Soldier, someone's son, Dad, Mom,daughter, and the list goes on....that will fight the fight for our freedom.
God bless all our Vietnam Vets, especially the ones that were left behind in SE Asia because of a Government that didn't give a damn. They were expendable but believe me they are still loved and remembered by the ones that loved them. Jamie O'Hara is a genius kudoes for this wonderful song and a great big Thank You to George Jones for his talented voice in singing this. It is heartbreaking, but oh so true.
The song is great and all these soldiers are great. Soon we will have to bulid a new wall for the brave men and women that lost there lives on the sands of Iraq and Afghanistan. Very sad.
I love this song and the great person who's heart wrote it! Every American should ruffle their feathers over the loss of our heroes and our lack of caring for them as they return to the Nation they fight/fought for! What will it take America to wake up and stand up of the Country worth dying for??? I carry on where George left off! My Joyceusa1 YouTube proves it. Check the 6 videos there. God Bless America! LONG MAY SHE STAND!! Blessings, Joyce
i love this song we had the what they call the traveling wall that goes all over the U.S. it's a replica of the wall but nothing like the real wall in D.C.
I was there, a 21+ year veteran. Americans at home during that period of time acted shamefully and with ultimate disrespect for those who defended thier way of life and that of thier families. I'm sure if you asked those who so disrespected thier fighting men at this juncture in thier lives, the majority would admit to shame.
Bless all the soldiers, with us and in heaven who sacrificed so much. I still think it all was so unfair and unforgivable, the way they were treated coming home, just because a bunch of war protesters blamed them instead of the ones who actually sanctioned the war. They were just following orders, and so many families suffer to this day for their being honorable men and women. It breaks my heart. Thanks is such a small word for such a giantic sacrifice, but thanks soldiers.
On June 24, at a intersection of two roads in West Virginia a bridge will be dedicated to my Uncle who is one of those 50,000 names. We loved him and we miss him and we will always remember him. The Rangers who served with him will be with us for the dedication and we will also honor them just 40 years later.
Thanks GJ - I knew and was there when many of these names went on the wall. I know what Memorial day is for...and god bless you for this song - it moves me everytime I hear it...Especially this weekend.
My brother's name is one of those fifty thousand names. I miss him still and I know I am not alone...Thank you for this song for those of us who still mourn... God Bless you and us all.........Connie
We lost my brother almost 43 years ago August 12, 1968. He was 18 and had only been there 6 weeks. I sometimes wondered how my fathers life would have been had this not happened. He suffered the pain of losing him for the rest of his life. Jimmy we missed you and continue to do so.
For My husband SSGT.Robert Anthony Denton-Wichita Falls,Texas-Vietnam tour 4/18/1970-Killed In Action-5/6/1970-Our son was 8 months old to the very day.I have seen the wall in D.C.and the moving wall numerous times in different areas.Thank you George Jones and God Bless You.I still don't understand WHY our veteran's were treated so badly upon coming home.Nor do I understand why they continue to suffer and the issue is ignored.
my stepdad was in vietnam and had ptsd...he didn't talk about it much but always seemed sad until he passed...i miss him every single day and cry when i hear this song...RIP LELAND D BROWN <3 YOU!
I love this song.A few years ago The Moving Wall Memorial came to my area. It was a very emotional site. I wrote a song for my Vietnam Veteran Friends that helped bring it here.
Thank you, George. It is very touching. Thanks also to the families and other loved ones whose sacrifice was just as great. We love and respect you. Jim Rhodes, 196th LIB, 1970-71.
u would have to been there to truly understand this song..it,s been over 40 years for me ,and everyday i wish i had not came back alive...from one ptsd vet to all,who served, died, wounded, mia and the memories that we live with.
@largemouth1943 * Hugs* My heart goes out to you. the war started before I was born, and ended before I was nine, so I don't know anything first hand, but you are all heroes in my book.
I served in Nam in 1968 my name should be carved on the wall but for one friend who came to my aid and paid teh ultimate price, God Bless you Denny and rest in peace my brother till we meet in the Green
the song is a good one for all the vets that was there,i stand by all vets new or old the still keep us free that is why i will teach my kids the right and wrong and salute or respect the vets thank for all that served. WELCOME HOME VETS!!!!!!!!
Dad did three tours and when we went to the wall I saw him cry like a child I am so proud of my dad .He did things I cant even imagine doing. He was and is my HERO
Crying for surviving the woulda shoulda couldas still take me at night. If I had done this or that why them and not me.The Wall is Holy Ground for us.Thank you.
Some gave all. All gave some. We all left a piece of ourselves in Vietnam. It didn't take long to realize it wasn't about mom and apple pie, but rather the love of a brother to lay down his life for his friends. Gone, but never forgotten.

@USACLINTEASTWOOD I wonder how God can bless a nation whose citizens gladly call for the death of their fellow man, merely for following a different ideology. Is that what those fifty thousand men on that wall died for? Did they die so the living can wish death on the living? No, they died for their country, but not a country of people like you. They died for a country worth defending, one that doesn't wish death on others, but peace for all. Don't spit on their sacrifice instigating violence.
@onehundred10million We didn't fight for anything except the guy standing next to us. We fought for each other. We didn't give a damn about what any politician said, what
our country told us we should do, we fought to try and make sure all of our buddies
got to go home alive to their families. It's for the ones that didn't make it that we cry for.
There were too many that didn't make it home alive. We love our country but we fought for each other.
We may not always agree what our government does but we must always support our service men and women. Giving their lives for people they don't even know.
@LuanneRH those people are the rothschilds of england, central bankers, est worth 500 TRILLION, Owners of the Federal Reserve Bank of the USA. every last war america has been in in the last 97 years has been to defend their empire. look into it. type "rothschild" up in you searchbar top of this page. have a nice day
The law should be that any congressman who votes for war should automatically be enlisted as a private in a forward unit. Perhaps then, wars will not be so frequent, and vets will not face a second war when they get home to collect their benefits.
We went there at night during our G.T. washington DC field trip (which was THE BOMB btw) and it was pretty sad when you look at the names and thinking about how all these people like DIED):
this is such a great song.. God Bless the USA.. and everyone that has fought and still is fighting for us.. and people really need to remembe God in everything.. thank you george for singing such a beutiful song and such a true one.. i love everyone that is out there for us nad had been there for us all..
That is one song that always bring tears to my eyes. George knows how to sind it and to all who fights to keep us free God bless you you have my greatest gratidude. My highest respect to all those who served
fuck anyone who stands against any vet.. vietnam vets are my heros.. thanks do much.. all vets are but no other vets were shit on like them i love you all and you have 100 percent respect from me!!
I wished people would more often go to that sad memorial, before embarking for Afghjanistan. When will we ever learn that we have only one world in which there should be no strife among us earthmen
When I first saw pictures of the Memorial, I tho't it was tacky. After standing in front of it the impact was unbelieveable strong. A fantastic memorial to all my comrads in arms during the time of the conflict.
Just remember it was LBJ who said, "No American boys will die on Asian soil." That is burned into my brain because in June of 1965 he committed 500,000 Americans to the war -- and over 58,000 American boys died on Asian soil.
But this old Green Beret did his time and I do not regret my time helping the Rhade and other Montanyards.
we know, at least anyone with common sense understands what a draft does to our young men. Thank You for going, no matter what my opinion on that war was. it was not your decision, just your job. And you did it exceptionally, even without the support of your govt.
@joeniddas glad you can talk about it. why do you feel quilty. It wasn't your time to die. God has other plans for you. I hope you have found them because those people need you. Be it family , friends or even someone that God has not sent you to yet , but is just around the corner .God bless you. I will say prayers for you and the rest . post tramatic stress can do a lot of damage. you did your best okay
Of all the songs that George has ever performed This is the one that always brings a tear to my eye. 50,000, may they always be remembered for the heroes they are.
so true. many great men have fought and died for this country and to see it pissed away would be a bloddy shame. it is sad to see whats happening today but maybe brighter days lay ahead for this great country. i am proud to be an american and live in the USA i would bleed red white and blue.
My Dad flew a Sunderland Bomber in WW11 for the RAF and joind through the RCAF I have an uncle who survived the Batton death march and three great friends who were killed in Vietnam and one from Canada who joined the US forces.
Thank you Uncle George, at our home you are loved.
George Jones is my favourite singer and he is a very nice guy.He will be in Sudbury on October 19th and in Ottawa on October 20th.I will go and see him in Sudbury.
You Johnson are a very ignorant and stupid creep. You suck.Canada is a great country and we are so happy that we don't have idiots like you living in Canada.
Are you nuts? I hate gays.Gays are all mentally retarded and are all sinners.I can't stand them .Don't ask me a stupid question like that.I am married to a wonderful woman and we have 2 boys who are married and are great and smart.
im sorry, i was a little drunk when i wrote that, i thought you were saying he is beautiful not that his songs are. us george fans shouldnt fight so i appogise
My uncle was one of the lucky ones who made it home. he got his purple heart, and other medals, he saved quite few of his platoon and got them them to safty, not a one he saved died! so proud of him, he is one of the true heros! He had to get extensive reconstructive surgeries on his face, and he is handsome to me! I would fight anyone who doesn't appreicate what he or any vietnam soldiers done! They deserve respect, not to be cussed & spit on. Shame on anyone who did this. they are a disgrace!
Thanks

The law should be that any congressman who votes for war should automatically be enlisted as a private in a forward unit. Perhaps then, wars will not be so frequent, and vets will not face a second war when they get home to collect their benefits.

50,000 of our boys, who died forcing a foreign people to bow down to a tyrant that those people did not love, support, or fight for.
Just like the Illegal Foreign Wars in the Middle East today!
Live414 2 years ago
Just remember it was LBJ who said, "No American boys will die on Asian soil." That is burned into my brain because in June of 1965 he committed 500,000 Americans to the war -- and over 58,000 American boys died on Asian soil.
But this old Green Beret did his time and I do not regret my time helping the Rhade and other Montanyards.

we know, at least anyone with common sense understands what a draft does to our young men. Thank You for going, no matter what my opinion on that war was. it was not your decision, just your job. And you did it exceptionally, even without the support of your govt.
mac423 2 years ago
Thanks Mac423. and pray for us that did come back that when we join them in eternity , we too will have peace and rest for our souls.
joeniddas 2 years ago
@joeniddas glad you can talk about it. why do you feel quilty. It wasn't your time to die. God has other plans for you. I hope you have found them because those people need you. Be it family , friends or even someone that God has not sent you to yet , but is just around the corner .God bless you. I will say prayers for you and the rest . post tramatic stress can do a lot of damage. you did your best okay
