You know you could be right. But the teacher had the power of speech & Pig only had the power of his expression!! It could be a wash! lol. That said, with Collective soul & ACDC on the soundtrack at least the music was good! I agrree about the whipped cream comment too, enough to put you off sweets for a while!!!
Geez, I never really listened to the lyrics to this song before. I think everyone goes through this once they realize they're not kids anymore and that things aren't what you thought they would be when you were a kid. Might not be what the songwriter had in mind but its what I personally got out of it.
@graysondrummer hang in there bro..i too picked up the bottle after my divorce and drank heavier than i ever have, but with the love and support of good sober friends and family i was able to overcome and so can you. I kno it sounds cliche but words were never truer and i hope you have those type of people around you and you too can control your problem and live a better life
@ItsCoreyLynxxYall mine too!, I was in high school.... exchange student... new country, new life... great times! (I remember I went to the movies only because James Van Der Beek, I was so in love with him... varsity blues)
yeah...my love of my life left me that year.....i was 18 back then..i always pondered why...now i know , it never really mattered...life goes on....at whatever stage in ure life that ure at
I'm from Argentina, all U.S. films in high school, show violence and separation of classes between people, it's really true, or only in some parts of the U.S. is that?
@sunderland2341 By separation of classes to you mean races? I've heard of racism and cliques in the high schools of Southern states from one of my Asian friends who moved out to Georgia. I live in Sacramento, CA which happens to be very diverse. I'd say that most students here mesh very well with one another. So it all really depends on the background that each person grows up in.
@amphonev my question is referring to the popular and the other people who do not play sports, it is true that they stick to those who are not popular?. thanks for responding.
@sunderland2341 I see what you mean. The U.S. is big, so the experience that many people encounter in high school may be very different. Where sports is big, and winning is big, that may be true. Sports is somewhat big at the high school I went to, but there really wasn't really a split like that. Everyone got along with each other.
@amphonev Don't believe the hype. Racism is everywhere, always has been and always will be. The difference with Southerners is that we don't pretend to like you by sucking up to you and then stab you in the back when you're not around. If we don't like you, you'll know it and if we like you, you'll know that too. Good luck.
@FastPonyGT I know racism is everywhere. I didn't say that it doesn't exist. I may have pointed that it may be more prevalent in the Southern States based on second hand experience, but from first hand experience, MOST races in the high school I went to get along with each other. And I did point out that it depends on the students' background growing up. You guys may have grown up intolerant of ethnic differences, but if you are around it long enough, you will learn to be more tolerant.
@amphonev I knew you probably knew that racism exist everywhere but you didn't point out that it does exist elsewhere, either. My point is that it's inaccurate to make an assumption based on what you've heard from one individual such as "I've heard of racism and cliques in the high schools of Southern states", assuming that it's limited to the South. I'm just saying don't believe the hype. You do realize that perception in of itself is in fact a racist statement. don't you? Be careful. Good day.
@0MikeOwens0 LOL at my previous comment. You know after reading that post, I couldn't help myself. That's one hell of a contradicting statement for sure. Bottom line is Amphonev basically did not state that racism was prevalent everywhere which I emphatically asserted. Amhonev had made the assumption that racism is more prevalent in the South based on one friend's ("first hand") experience. Obviously, I disagreed with his assumption.
@FastPonyGT He was pointing out racism in Southern schools b/c that was the topic of the discussion. He didn't say anything about racism in other areas b/c that's not what anyone was talking about. Just b/c something Isn't said, doesn't mean it Isn't true or anything.
@0MikeOwens0 You're incorrect. The discussion was initiated when Sunderland 2341 from Argentina (2 months ago) had asked a general question. The question referenced that U.S. films depictied violence and separation of classes and was that true in U.S schools? Amphonev's reply had singled out racism in a school in Georgia (per his friend). He personally experienced and stated that his school in California was diverse. It's inaccurate in making those assumptions about schools in Southern states.
@FastPonyGT He wasn't implying anything, his friend who lives in Georgia told him a first hand account of racism and separation in his school. He went on to explain that where he lives it is the opposite, thus answering Sunderland 2341's question about whether or not there was racism in all U.S. schools. He didn't single out that Georgian school either, it was just, as i said the topic of discussion. Also, Amphonev's friend is himself in a minority group, so he may experience racism every day.
@0MikeOwens0 He wasn't implying anything because he STATED it. This isn't very complicated but you're certainly trying to make it that way. I think you just like to argue for argument's sake. I tell you what.....you read it the way you want to while I read it as STATED. Also, Amphonev doesn't need an interpreter and I don't need a literary lecture on interpretation pertaining to a few basic sentences. Capiche ? Comprende? Adios, Amigo!
@0MikeOwens0 Just - at this period of time - a lot of people were feeling a cultural ennui. So he's just asking if everyone else was feeling bored too becaue it sure as shit seemed like it.
@LeCutter What? Did you even read the comment I was talking about? This is the sentence I was confused about (and they cleared it up them self): I knew you probably knew that racism exist everywhere but you didn't point out that it does exist elsewhere, either. Read that and tell me it makes sense. It doesn't even mention boredom.
@FastPonyGT Your last sentence didn't really make sense. Perception is a racist statement? You mean my perception of high schools in the southern states? I have no opinion about anybody out there, whether they be black, white, yellow, green. It doesn't matter. So no, I do not believe my perception of your high schools is racist. Prejudice maybe, since I have no actual account of attending one out there, but definitely not racist.
My favorite by CS even though its more "pop" than their other stuff. I like how the song continually builds as it progresses to the guitar riff at around the 2:42 and the "Have I got a long way", reps. Especially a great song to listen to as you're cruising down the highway.
i luv this song i think It's about the emptiness of consumerism in late capitalist society! We constantly have to feel that we're running towards a goal: Have I got a long way to run?...' The 2nd verse alludes particularly strongly to the desensitisation effect of advertising..and i guess the movie was ok..
Stiff, stiffie, Mr. Mortis, rigor mortis has set in, flesh rocket, Jack's magic beanstalk, tall Tommy, mushroom on a stick, Mr. Mushroomhead, purple-headed yogurt slinger... and, uh, Pedro.
