Also you're underselling the talents of those two particular spin bowlers. Vettori is the world's best left arm spinner who uses changes of pace, flight, position on the crease and his guile as an intelligent cricketer to outfox his foes. If he were surrounding by a better bowling attack he would have better figures that the very good 286 wickets at 33 a piece...

No doubt that Mendis is a good player, but I think Pietersen will do what Sehwag did and attack him. Most of the Indian batsmen were just too timid, sat back, defended and were done in by a ball they didn't pick. You need to attack this guy. I think Pietersen stands the best chance of success against him (amongst England's batsmen). When they play next April it will be Mendis' first time playing Tests out of Sri Lanka. Should be interesting.
