just to add. for the benefit of others. RILE--> right sided murmurs are best heard at inspiration and left sided best at expiration. in auscultation always do AR last so that you dont get the patient forwards and back every 2 seconds. also as well as checking lung bases, peripheral pulses,. you should do a quick check for AAA, hepatomegaly, renal bruits.
When she is listening using the stethoscope, she uses her thumb to check the carotid pulse. I thought you shouldn't use your thumb as it has its own weak pulse you might mistake to be theirs?
This video makes it seem as though she's a psychopathic deamon who has complete control over him as he lye's there. This was their agreement in hell, shes like haha, just carry on with what i say and this video can continue. MUHAHAHAAH. He's like ok mam just please dont hurt me.. and shes like, dont make it look too obvious too, or il really hurt you.
@frankenzi89 this is st georges, its uk. london. not america. also there is little indication for percussion unless your going for EWART sign, pericardial effusions etc
I like the way the doctor located the apex beat and started her auscultation.I wonder if it is OK to show at the exam.In Canada the academic way to do auscultation is "From APe To Man" (Aortic-Pulmonary-Tricuspid-Mitral)
good vedio. I am about to teach this and was worried it will take forever. its amazing to find a pretty comprehensive video of the basics done in less than 7 minutes.
probably the other stuff I was going to teach is superfluous in the technology age.
@zaxterry dude it doesnt take a doctor to say the guy looks alittle chubby..i know u can act all tuff behind your mommys keyboard but stop acting like a youtube bully ..its embarrassing
@dano3564 did you measure her waist circumference? and how about her BMI, and LDL/HDL ratio? and about the Echo? so you have just determined that she is more prone only by looking at her, wow!! you must be really reeeally talented, or just mean
Once I owed a Dr's office a few big bucks and they held me down, then strapped me to the table nude and tickled, taunted and teased me until I agreed to pay in full. I think it was partly real though, because I found a feather and mask they were using in my personal belongings at discharge.

in regards of radial-radial delay that u mentioned, which part of radial artery should be palpated to feel that? i have checked talley o'connor,i can't find it. thank u
I think it's easier to get into medical school in London than the US . They don't have to take an 8.5 hour test to get in and they don't need a degree to enter.
It would be so much more useful, educational and memorable if she could say why she was doing things. She does it a couple of times but too infrequently...why should he turn on to his left side? ...why listen to the apex of the heart? etc.
in some patients, i.e females with large breasts or obese patients, it is difficult to locate PMI, by turning the patient to the left lateral position, the PMI can be located easily. Apex of the heart produces the PMI=Point of maximum impulse.
but the point of locating the apex beat is to see if there's cardiomegaly. by turning the patient, there's no significance of locating the apex beat, isn't it?
Where is this thin sheet of paper as it is used in germany ? I mean, he's sweating, so who would like to lay on a bed, someone else has used minutes before??? Bwäh...! Disgusting.
@Firegupf Britain uses the disposable sheets of paper too, I think they haven't in this video just because it's not a real examination, it's for revision purposes
@zaxterry You're abit of an silly arent you! this is a teaching aid! made by a university to aid its students in conducting these examinations properly! the students watching these have examinations where they have to replicate these stages perfectly! if you dont know what you're talking about i suggest you dont say anything because this is a learning tool design to teach FUTURE DOCTORS so they can BECOME REAL DOCTORS!!
one question: Is checking jugular vein pulsation the same as looking for jugular vein distension? I have never heard of JDP... if she was checking for JVD, she forgot to have him lay flat and than sit up to fowler's position...
how would you feel anything with your hand on a large breasted woman? seriously! I've seen several video's now-and ALL of them have males in them! crazy.
you can't always, you just have to make the best of what you can...cv exam is a bit more difficult in females, but the stuff youre feeling for is very obvious (ie a thrill or a heave) so its not a problem to be honest ;o)

Same thing with leaning forward, exhaling and holding for aortic murmurs.

it's radial-radial inequality and radial-femoral delay.

in coarctation of the aorta there can be radial-radial delay. it just depends on which part of the aorta is constricted
