@hipoint45 i know iv'e seen the lunch box on amazon, if you dont mind buying online...as of retail stores, havent really looked but i did see the carbonated drink bottle at my local sporting good store. hope this helps
Does anyone know what type of plastic Stanley/Aladdin use in their stainless steel bottles and flasks (the lids and stoppers). They state that the body bottle is self is BPA and phthalate free (because it's 100% stainless steel) but can't find info on the other parts. I like Stanley, I just hoped to hear back from them regarding this ever-growing concern.
Trail Beer ! I just mount backpack straps on a keg for the wilderness. Beer, a knife, a can of body paint, and funeral arrangements. That's all you really need in the jungle. I'm going to go buy something from Stanley just for the good looking rep there. Had no idea they had that many different products. I wonder if they have any unlined steel bottles that are actually 1 liter unlike competitors.
I don't understand what all the latest craze is with these steel water bottles. Compared to Nalgene bottles, they weigh alot more and cannot hold as much water. A better solution yet is a hydration pack that's either stand alone or fits in a backpack, and is a more efficient carry solution especially for hiking or bugging out. Someone enlighten me on why I've misunderstood stainless steel water bottles.
@GearBuyersGuide actually plastic nalgene type of water bottles will take more of a beating, i use a stainless steel guyot design because i can cook water in it, you could do it on plastic too but it will not last as long.
@Machi74005 - A lot of it is part of the environmental movement. Billions of water bottles end up in landfills and in bodies of water each year. Plastic bottles also supposedly can leach chemicals into water. So the movement was looking to make reuseable containers made of a safe material other than plastic (such as stainless steel) that doesn't leach and won't end up in a landfill after one use.
I'm not a tree hugger, but it makes sense. I bought one.
@Machi74005 Plastic leaches molecules into the water. Concerns about BPA carcinogenic properties initiated the move to BPA free plastics for water bottles. Who really knows the long term effects of exposure to minute quantities of ingested plastic molecules? Play it safe with stainless steel containers. You can heat single wall stainless steel containers too without melting them.
@Machi74005 Stainless steal water bottles do not weigh that much more. They also have the advantage of keeping the temperature of the liquid inside. You can also use them (while camping) as a pot over the fire. They are much more durable, and the cap are usually tethered on the inside so it would be "more" airtight.
@Machi74005 The primary advantage is they can withstand heat. Over a camp fire, these will hold up and can cook and distill water for you. I've not tried it, but I'm guessing a nalgene bottle would melt.

yeh okay ..but the only one I've bought is the one from Go Outdoors that has just a lid and a single skin stainless flask,,then you can boil water with it. and make char cloth/tinder..I think it was top left in the vid!

I think what you use it for is a factor. if the bottle is going to get abused steel seems like a better choice IMO

@Machi74005
you also can boil water inside a stainless steel bottle
to sterilize it or to just get hot water for a tea or a hot meal.
you can´t do that with a plastic bottle.
