  • Wow I might like this if I hadn't heard the Crystal Castles and CC feat. Rob Smith versions first...

  • I would actually like to hear The Cure play it as a band more than anything

  • i don't feel the bass does justice to the song though. I don't know that's how I feel.

  • good old days ;)

  • This is the motherfuckin' bomb right here boi.

  • This is pretty good, but I have to say I like the Crystal Castles version more. but NOT the version with Robert Smith, the version just with Alice. I prefer this version over the Robert Smith version, but the plain CC version over this version. They're all good though.

  • I will always love Platinum Blonde and their songs. I have all their albums. Didn't even know there was another version of this song. The cover song is pretty good but I always tend to enjoy the original song just a bit more. I guess it's just one's own preference.

  • I was heartbroken when I found out the CC version was a cover. I'm sorry, and I hate to be a hater, but this is nowhere near as good. It's alright, but Robert Smith's voice is too perfect.

  • Finally someone uploaded a decent version of this song!!!

  • I never even heard of the Crystal Castles version until I read about it in these comments and looked it up

  • If a song is great, it will stand the test of time. So, it is a true compliment to Platinum Blonde that Crystal Castles covered this track and gave it the exposure it deserves. :)

  • I can't find a website to buy an mp3 of this, and it's apparently not on iTunes...can anyone help me???

  • @josephmlong you can go on mp3va.com, they have the best of for download :)

  • I like the original, a bit dated though, CC's version is great because of Robert Smith being on the track. But CC's live versions are just ehhh to me honestly.

  • @icbm777

CC performs the song live? I didn't even know that!

  • @icbm777 lol.. i Read CC's version, and thought you meant 10cc's version... which is just a similarly titled song - completely different otherwise. Very different.

  • thumbs up if you knew this version before the Crystal Castles/Robert Smith version

  • Ironic so many people hate on covers when in fact EVERY BAND AROUND COVERS SONGS!!! The Beatles covered Chuck Berry, AFI covered Morrissey and Blur, HELL, Zeppelin ripped the ass off of Willie Dixon and made the poor man work to get it glued back on!

  • @HarrisonPaniszczyn RIGHT ON MAN!

  • Crystal Castles' version is good. It just bums me out that a lot of teenagers think the song is a Crystal Castles song.

  • still like this version better than the cover

  • positive changes in the new version:

Lower vocals, which give the song more power. The original vocals seem too fragile; Robert Smith gives it a chilling power of denial.

The lyric "It's cold outside." I was really surprised that in this version, they simply repeat "It's hot inside." Having the cold gives the "you" a need that they have a reason to meet, and it's easier for the singer to be in denial.

The chorus has a much more intense dynamic shift in the new version. It explodes, beautifully.

  • So many kids my age STILL think this is a Crystal Castles song. Others the Cure. Fuck ignorance.

  • Both this and the cover are great. The difference is this:

Original- I'd bump in my car during a trip.

Cover- I'd drink to or dance to lol.

  • This version is far superior to the remake. I love Robert Smith!

  • @flotyu Where is the connection between this song and Robert Smith? It is true that he sings on the second version (not the album version) of the cover by Crystal Castles, but I'm quite sure that he has nothing to do with this version or band.

  • The CC version is good don't get me wrong...but cmon lets be serious main...it doesn't compare to this...not even close within the same vicinity.

  • i like the CC version more. The synths match the song better than the guitar i think

  • great quality, thank you for sharing.

  • I wish I was a teen in the 80's.. :/

  • it bugs me when people hate on covers. yes there is always something special about the original, but lets get real, music gets recycled. if nooooobody except for beethoven played his symphonies, music would be a lot different today. musicians have been playing other musicians compostions for years; doesn't really make sense for it to stop now. give credit where credit is do (in this case to platinum blonde) but don't discount a great cover merely because it is a cover. be open minded.

  • @kilgannon2113 amen! ;)

  • @kilgannon2113 I was just in the video saying that there are some bands, not all, but some, where it's no use, and I personanly wouldn't give a cover a shot because I feel this way.

  • @kilgannon2113 You can't give credit to something that doesn't sound as good as the original. This song does need to be recycled it’s perfect the way it is. I’m not hating on the Crystal Castles version, but it does not stand up to the original. If anything the new cover does not give the original justice.

  • Crystal Castles version sucks balls! Just goes to show how theres no originality left!

  • @preistscott I absoluly love every version of this song. The live by platinum blonde is my favorite though. I think crystal castles did an amazing job! And when Robert Smith teamed up, magic happend. I can't change your mind but, even though crystal castles covered this song, they still twisted it and made it their own. They played it in their genre and changed a few lyrics. You can say you don't like them, but come on! Don't go so far to say they have no originality.

  • I personally like the Crystal Castles version with the legendary Robert Smith of The Cure, but this is also good.

  • it's far way better than the cover of crystal castles !!!!! I'm in love with this track !!!!

  • It's insane how good this song is, and the crystal castles version doesn't compare to this.

  • I'm in love with this song <3

  • Canada, fuck yea

  • Their BEST.

  • Dope! I love finding out songs i'm obsessed with are actually covers. Covering a song is in itself an art. It sparks that "which was better" debate, but it goes to show that music can be recycled and spread to different generations. Any way, this original is awesome just like both Crystal Castles covers. It's soo classic rock.

  • I like the cover for different reasons than I like this one.

  • He sings like he is disabled, but the song is great nonetheless.

  • thanks for posting... i played this tape out back when it appeared in the early 80s... still like this song

  • robert smith's isnt as good.

  • Can't stop listening

  • i prefer this type of rock

  • Great quality, thanks!

  • wow I listened crystal castles' version first but his is way better

  • @knightdragons7 the verison w/ Robert Smith? I have both and the one w/o Robert Smith isn't better than this. But the one with him....its absurd how amazing that version is.

  • @JoshS24 actually it was an spelling mistake I wanted to say "This" is way better

but yeah the one with roberth is really good as well

  • @knightdragons7 Word

  • Heard this song on the radio the other day.. fell IN LOVE!!
