The place where his string is "locked down on itself" as he puts it, actually creates a kink because the string crosses over itself. That will weaken your string and lead to breakage. I change all my strings the Taylor way.........fast and easy. Google it!
LOL don't do it like this. just feed the string in turn key when lead comes to bottom, feed lead under, turn key around again. Then take the lead over top, and turn key. You will see the string pinched between, which stops tuning from slipping. I put 2 to 3 wraps on 6 and 5 strings, and 3 to 4 wraps on 4 and 3 strings and 4 to 5 wraps on 2 and 1 strings.
Wow, you really have no idea what your doing do you? That looks like hell and will deaden your strings...I've only been playing a couple years, that's just common sense...
This locking method is totally unnecessary. I been playing for 31 years, and have never had a string slip without this method. I just bent the string on each side of the post and wind two to four times,, It locks its self in place, and much less chance of breaking.
Actually this guy does a pretty good job and anyone who has ever played a strat or any guitar with a non-locking trem will tell you this is the next best alternative to locking tuners.
all you people saying how terrible this is why dont you quit naysaying and make a video of the "correct" way. no one needs your useless input if its just negative and you dont add anything helpful
Buddy do us all a favour and stop teaching us. We dont need 20 fucking video about how to string a guitar WRONG. Ive been stringing guitars for a bit now and your method of locking it in is a terrible idea. It sounds good on paper, but when you create loops around the tuning peg it messes the string up. Seriously take these videos off and do it right.
Plus, you posted like 20 fucking videos about how to restring a guitar like seriously, what the fuck?
I don't like that method of 'locking' the string. OK, after the next turn, it shouldn't be actively under tension, but by the look of it you still have the string going over itself instead of smoothly round the tuning peg. I've played for 46 years & restrung guitars hundreds of times & never felt a need to lock strings like this.
wtf..my first time changing my strings..i did it exactly like this guy said to..and i broke my g string trying to wind it..dont fuckin listen to this bastard
use a wire cutter to cut it. try and cut it as close to the post as possible and if there's a little left bend it close to the post because its sharp.
Jesus, what a bunch of flunkies on this thread. These are about the easiest instructions there are. If you can't follow these, you can't tune a guitar--quit trying and, most of all, quit whining and have a pro do it for you.
