everything was better in the 60's it seems.especialy cars and music.I was only 3 in 69 so I guess i dont really know what im talking about.but in the 70's as a kid there were alot of muscle cars around still. even in HS there were alot of them cause they werent that old of cars in the early 80's
Like David Spade and Chris Farley, I drove from Sandusky, Oh to Minneapolis, Mn in a '67 Belvedere GTX. Mine wasn't a convertible, and it didn't get destroyed by a fat fuckin slob.
I see some disagreement about the original color of this car. Mine was exactly the same color. I believe the color was officially called "turbine bronze." I think thats what it was.
I forgot to mention the dash. That takes me back. You couldn't keep those damn cheap knobs on the controls. I have never in my life seen a 67 GTX with the little plastic knob on the heater fan control lever. Not once.
I drove this car in high school. Same color and black racing stripes from the factory. Mine was automatic. This shifter is not correct. No pistol grip till 1970. My brother had one with the hemi, blue on white interior. He totalled his, I totalled mine. Oh well.
@omahadave-I noticed the shifter as well. Can't recall if it was my 69 GTX or 68 Barracuda that had problems with plastic knobs on window cranks breaking. The rear spring shackles look a bit long.Chrysler had a great rear suspension. They mounted the rearend at forward section of leaf springs which prevented wheel hop and made traction bars unnecessary. The front of the springs were quite stiff and had a extra leaf or two on one side. The only problem was the long rear sections would sag.
my first car was a 67 2-door belvedere.back in 1978.it was sitting in a garage with the front end all smashed-up.me and a buddy fixed it up and i drove that car for next five years.actually drove it from birmngham to tucson.it was this color but i had it painted red.i still miss that car.
I owned a 691/2 RR. It was one of the dozens of mopars that I had or still have. They DID NOT come with the pistol grip period. If you saw one with that shifter it was installed by someone. You can look in any catalog and those shifters are available for the 70-74 models. Sorry.
@scottyv68 It's funny that you are full of shit. You would have posted that in your first response instead of "Ive been a mopar guy for 43 years". My guess is you actually looked it up and found yourself wrong. Even the hurst web site list the shifter as 70-74. But hey, your imaginary cars can have whatever imaginary shifters you want them to. I'm sure you will prove me wrong by posting a video of your 2 road runners. LOL.. I'll be looking for it!
@scottyv68 It's funny how NONE of the 691/2 super bees and road runners that have been restored as new have the pistol grip shifter. Those came out in 1970.

@omahadave Are you sure? I thought turbine bronze was more of an orange-like the Chrysler turbine cars.
