  • excellent save most would have low sided or pulled it back way to the left and crashed either way nice skills

  • wheres the kneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • 0:08 ''ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh''

  • poor body and bike positioning.

  • Nice save

  • May I ask what 'squid' is slang for?

My guess is a bike-poser, but not sure.

  • @hejjagedu I forgot exactly what the acronym stands for but its pretty much the typical American that has money and buys a bike but no gear. Mainly because he understands that in the great country of America the road obeys you and t shirts and flip flops make you more aerodynamic... I'm American btw and wear my gear :)

  • @Chubzter15 Thank you for your answer, I don't see why anyone wouldn't buy at least a helmet, and prefferably full safety gear... Makes for so much less injuries ^_^

  • @hejjagedu Its more like a beginner, because new surfers are also called squids.

You also see them go buy a brand new GSX-R 1000 with no riding expierence and all the GSX-R gear, then drive really fast on a road the gives the experts a challenge, most of the timing ending in them eating a guard rail, or roadway.

  • Those extra pounds saved him pml r1 couldn't buck him off ha ha...

  • i wonder if he went home right afterwards.

  • I've had that fun experience at willow springs from turn 4 to 5 because the negative battery cable came loose under throttle and then connected again, never seen the front fender like that before and hope to never again but I somehow saved it.

  • jajajajajajajajaajajaj por tarzan

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooo lol

  • WHY THE R1 WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @colombiano5554 why not? theyre awesome

  • trip to the pants store for sure

  • guardian angel!

  • I've watched this vid heaps and i think that was so close to a highside that it was 100% fluke he didn't .

  • thats how you do it, clutch in a little bit and stand up to bring more weight to the front tire! respect, but you can just do it automatically when you've done thousands of miles and get nearer to such a situation from time to time...propably racetrack experience

  • @Blackrier93 heard that, lose it a few times like that and you learn how to save it, only experience teaches you that, right on brotha

  • @Blackrier93 heard that, lose it like that a few times on the track and you learn how to save it, only experience teaches you that, something these squids can't seem to figure out, they all wanna be little badasses, right on brotha

  • holy noob batman

  • .......Not TODAY Sir......

  • woooooaaah

  • LMFAOOOO the squid filter? thats fucking hilarious oh and nice save...

  • pressure and the handle bars towards where you want to lean makes for a smooth corner... he leaned then backed off to lean again

  • y does no one hang off the bike in that corner, thats y ppl r hitting pegs all the time, i need to get my self over to the states to put u all to shame, :P

  • come on , those things happens , a correction like this is pure intsinct.Daily basis shit.....

  • Going to have to agree that this guy knows what he is doing for the most part and is just trying to get better. He had to readjust his line twice through the turn like a rookie, but at least he established good basic technique in throttle control and handling before trying to step up the speed

  • LOL, I love the name you have for that road. "Squid Filter" Epic!

  • @PsychoDaveFilms it is not the road is just that part of it

  • Also that was nice save all he had to do was hit the throttle a little and hello asphalt. Practice throttle control it will save you.

  • He scraped a peg or rear spool. Did that once to on a set of cold tires......

  • Bet that one puckered up his butt hole! nice save...

  • did his peg scrape the ground?

  • warm up your tires. was in a rush one day and went into a round about and did the exact same thing.

  • huyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • what scratch on the street?

    knee?

  • That was NOT a save. That was fucking lucky. A save would have been to ride it into a low side. The guy almost got high-sided.

  • @JohnnyWishbone85 How the fuck is lowsiding your bike a save, ALMOST lowsiding your bike would be a save and since he ALMOST highsided thats still a save HATER

  • @PureSPLprix Agreed... JohnnyWishbone is fucking dolt.

  • @shittymcgurgles Hes probably mad cause hes one of the other normal folks that busted his ass and they caught it on film and now hes pissed cause his "everyone else pushin it fell right there" excuse no longer holds water cause his friends saw this vid and asked him why he didnt do that HAHA

  • i hate it when advertisements get in the way....

  • great recovery!

On a different note, have your recorded anyone drifting this bend? (except for the long boarders of course.. :P ) would love to see that!

  • WOO~~

    Great.......

  • In my opinion (hehe) what saved his ass is he didn't chop the throttle he held it firm

    and the bike corrected itself

I've noted other videos on this channel when riders get high sided they've chop the throttle

thank you "Keith Code, Twist of the Wrist vol.2"

  • squid filter? ....awsome name ... up here in "nor cal" we ride hwy 36 never the same turn twice in a day but the pavement leaves much to be desired... its a trade off for not having a bunch of people in yr face.but then again the wrecks are usually 60+.which brings us to why i'm here. wrecked my alstare gixxer @ 60+ on a nite ride. i fell asleep...go figure....laid me up for a year...now im hooked on yr vids of mulholland... with time to watch them all its like "this is what we did last weekend

  • squid filter. That's funny. I've been up and down the Snake at least 100 times and didn't realize how many bikes and cars crash there. But then again, I'm really, really slow.

  • @gbthreegb3

Better to be slow and within your limits than fast and end up like the majority of other people in these clips! Props to you for respecting your limits.

  • squid filter. That's funny. I've been up and down the Snake at least 100 times and didn't realize how many bikes and cars crash there. But then again, I'm really, really slow.

  • ...'s 'bout time someone on that hill came along who knows his hogs' bitchyness-

    and how to handle her...

  • lightning reflexes there :) good for you

  • i love the name. squid filter. truely

  • wtf is this show or this is real are ppl so stupid and everyone is making acident on that corner???i look 15 videos every time crash on that place, why?and other ppl they sit there with camera and catching shoots with camera

  • I'll tell you one thing, standing up when about to highside actually helps, it shifts the weight from the rear to the mid, it has saved me a few times now, exactly what this dude went through.

  • @elalis it keeps you from harmonizing all of your weight thru to the back of the bike, thats why you stand up, and let your arms be loose, so the bike will resettle....

  • That turn has just a enuff of a camber pitch to dump noobs on their ass. Your at your lean angle and the camber adds lean and you scrape hard parts, upset the bike, and

off you go. From all the vids the corner before this one sets the noobs up. The Right hander, then the road camber changes it looks flat but its not.

  • bet that got the adrenaline pumping

  • stuff like this makes my butthole pucker

  • The only reason he saved that is because like all americans he is a fat cunt

  • @1AOR1 uk sucks bitch

  • Counter-steering and slow throttle roll-off while decreasing lean angle.... Nice Save !

  • This guy did what most of us would do-shut off everything instantly to regain control.

Problem is,that according to racers with the experience/balls to overrule instinct he should of slowly rolled of the throttle-that way you avoid the highside.

  • Chased by the police

  • Bad rare tire, this bike on this big of a turn and this low angle with this much acceleration , will never slide with a good tire. see some track clips.

  • the power of good rubber

  • LOL

You can tell the people who don't know anything about riding.

He scraped a peg - that's all. It happens.

  • @thepopularjock He had too much weight on his peg. That also happens, but has a large amount of fail in it.

  • @Pogost1ck

I see your point but as I get older my opinion changes. I know he didn't perform the turn perfectly but at the same time he didn't crash. He stayed vertical and avoided injury and there is a lot of "Win" in that.

  • Haha! Slowmotion: Whooooooooooouuuuuuuu! :D

  • That guy shoudn't be riding. not very skilled...NEWB!!!

  • @DukeandMackey Not very skilled? You would've eaten pavement in a fraction of a second.

This guy has obviously been riding long enough in order for his subconscious to kick in, in less than a second and recover.

    Troll harder, please.

  • That is a 2004 R1 loved

  • @Topthai23 nope its an 07. I have it.

  • @zudaboy3030 haha i think it was a 2004 r1 because of the light i ride a 04 R1 loving it but i just don't like how the 2009 r1 look

  • lol..damn that guy is big

  • Ha ha look at the size of this guy, even the R1 couldn't buck him off ;'D

  • Nice job. Here is a guy who has prolly done some dirty bike riding and knows to turn into the slide. Well done.

  • nice save! ;)

  • Hey I had an idea while watching all your videos one night. I'm saving up for my first bike, poor busy college student but I want to save up enough to get a proper bike and proper gear no super cheap helmets that will get me killed you know?. I think it would be awesome if you guys that are experienced watched these videos and told us what they did wrong so we can learn from them. Just an idea hope y'all appreciate it.

  • @Vros234 yeah rather than the one's who " think " they know what they did wrong ... lol

Im sure there are a lot more ppl on here hating and telling ppl what they ought to be doing than riding ... talk is cheap !

  • this happens frequently when you dirtbike and slide on sand, becomes a reaction

  • If he can't save ,then what's going on?(Highside or Lowside?)

  • When in doubt, gas it out! Great ridin bro!

  • Too much power too early on a very powerful bike.

I have a felling that there is poor traction at this place. The asphalt must be worn out.

This guy was concentrated while riding ( and not drunk). Anyway nice reaction!

  • @skakljivo he scraped the pegs. watch and listen. thats what caused the rear tire to lift but he corrected by turning into the slide, forcing the rear tire to make contact.

i know this because it happened to me.

  • that's what I call driving at the liiiiiiimit!

  • OOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • What a beast! Got a slide and got in the gas.. I idolize men like this.

  • Stayed on the pipe, thats what saved him, good recovery

  • @bfulop r1's pipes are underneath the tail...

  • @oCannabusdriver i know that, meant he stayed on the throttle thats why it didn't hook back and highside.

  • skills not to fall

  • wuts so great? he just let go of the gas a little and prayed. It was luck.

  • @dukviper90 no.... it wasn't

  • @94miata yes it was. His line was horrible and accelerated out way to early for the lean and the result was a near crash,

  • @dukviper90: The irony of two users with car brands and two digit year dates in their names is overwhelming. At the same time, your opinions are just that: opinions. Yes, even on the internet your opinion is not fact. My opinion? Even on slow-mo, he counter-steered in under 1/4th of a second and pulled in the clutch to re-establish traction. Consciously? Probably not. But he's ridden long enough for his subconscious to react properly before he was even aware of what happened, which isn't luck.

  • @Raven105X Well said... I really doubt a reaction like that could be something conscious, it's just too quick and almost like a reflex... he also stood up on the pegs and honestly I don't know why he did that but I did the exact same shit last time my bike had cold tires and I lost my back (i recovered mine too).

  • @nzalog He was probably sub-consiously getting ready to bail if the other manuver didnt work

  • @Raven105X Hit the nail on the head. You can see the clutch and the countersteering happen instinctivley. Beatiful to watch, a less experienced rider would have highsided there for sure. Infact there are several videos of that exact situation happening to riders on that exact spot on the same corner, and you can see them chop the throttle and highside. This guys good.

  • @Raven105X over-react much?

  • i dont understand why all those accidents are the exact same way on that exact same spot...

  • he probably has dirt experince

  • nice save!!!

  • That's why I always wear brown underwear when I ride.

  • Savour these moments until the next generation of superbikes take BMW's lead and fit traction control and then we will all corner like GP gods.

  • @jdclover electronics hinder true skill

  • @spencermel Yeah, maybe if you're a riding genius. All the motoGP guys use some level of traction control. My point was that moments like this will be history when the next generation of electronics appear on sportsbikes.

  • @jdclover true but i would turn mine off.unless its raining of course.

  • @spencermel. No... you must be riding withing a few percent of the bikes limits for traction control to slow you down

  • how did he recover it?

  • @AigoSam i think he let the cluch in time or reduce power a bit...if he delayed that reaction i bet he woulded go for a highside

  • wooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww

  • SWEET!

  • mulholland hwy was my address for 3 yrs and yah theres alwayz crashes. cars bikes watev. u can find cars at the bottom in some places that they left in the canyons if u hike around. its a blast 2 ride on tho and gr8 view ..my buddy used 2 turn his lites off at nite and scare the shit outta us all.

  • Comment removed

  • that is crappy throttle control ----that is all

  • good skills :)

  • guy knew what to do and didnt panic ;)

  • Woooooooow :D

Nice, damn that was very close :)

  • did he go too low?

  • @rsoreo no...it was called lack of throttle control and setting the bike up and down

  • wwwwwwooooooohhhhhhh xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • if you hear the sound before he lost the rear, it sounds like he was too low and was scraping, causing the tripod effect. he needs to hang off more or get higher rearsets, but then you need some bad ass tires if you do that.

  • @viper22jc Or, ya know, GO SLOWER.

  • @rickrussell yup, you are right, slower always works lol.

  • nice saved...

  • shit wut u guys talkin bout thats the new stunters move its called the crow hop

  • that 07 r1 is very forgiving .... im glad knew to turn into the slide ... great save

  • @ZacGot1 shit wut u guys talkin bout thats the new stunters move its called the crow hop

  • kinda nice to see someone NOT eat shit on the snake

  • Looks surprisingly smooth

  • If you look closely you can see the shit on the seat....

  • @liam264 LOL XD

  • @rickwriteoff No if you like bikes.... go and watch the TT in the UK best motorbike race of all time... just mist the 2010 event though !! was sweeet

  • Not luck, he turned into the slide and pulled it up and then immediately straightened back out. I've had my back tire slip out just like this 4 times and dropped it once. It's not hard to do. It's just hard to have the reaction time to catch it before your rear tire gets too far.

  • Judging by the fact that he didn't let off the throttle, he's probably been in that position before.

  • id say either a shit load of luck but looks to me more like someone that knows what their doing

  • Scraping hard parts, a great way to shave a couple grams here and there.

  • Omg, wot a save! fukin props man!

  • Giddyup

  • to me it seems like hes not getting off the bike and dragged a peg or foot hit the ground and unloaded the rear tire a bit. it definitely sounds like metal or hard plastic scraping and not tire screech.

  • R1 BaBy!!

  • Pure luck...

  • well done.

  • Why does everyone wipe out in that same spot? Is it the traction, is there gravel? Or is it something about the corner that induces poor throttle control from the rider? It appears that the rider in this clip was rolling on the throttle smooth and steady when the tire started to slide. Is there a slick spot?

  • @XfreerideX On this specific turn, it looks to me, like lots of people are getting on the gas leaving the corner while they are still in a full lean.

Of course a lot of these wrecks on the Mulholland are different circumstances

  • @Towlieee i dont think people fully understand that if your gunna get on the throttle hard, you have to stand the bike up a little hahaha

  • man... the amount of times i've done that...

    good job to him!

  • it's funny how the crowd of guys all go WHoooaaa!! there just waiting for someone to eat it.

  • he took about 4 tries to get thru the corner.. obviously didnt pick a good line, hit the gas too hard and lit it up.. lucky he didnt hi-side himself..

  • no save just pure luck lads the tire gained the grip not him saving it

  • @coburncream

I don't know, he counter-steered just in time. I think it was just a tad bit more than luck.

  • He let off the throttle, allowing the tire to hook up. Luckily he wasn't leaned too far over so when the tire did hook up, he didn't get popped too high out of the saddle.

  • @coburncream He countersteered, reduced the throttle and brought the bike upright all at the same time. As opposed to all the other guys we've watched just spin out into the dirt right there from holding their line and throttle position.

  • ill grab a beer after that just go whooooo....

  • naice

  • Bfd! Yeah. Big fuckin deal.

  • watch your language nakka... there are kids here....

  • that could have ended real bad. I did something similar to that about 2 years ago. its scary, knowing you can trash a bike in seconds.

  • sounds like he was not rollong on the throttle, nice job saving it! i bet his ass was puckered!

  • sooo close to hi siding

  • nice recovery...very lucky

  • Woah, nice. Driver corrects it nicely!

    - Gijs

  • i love the slow motion, "whhhhooooooaaaaaaaaa"

  • Squid filter is a fitting name!! Takes a certain touch to save a slide like that.

  • @jesse0192 Or a lot of luck.

Looks more like he was going into a highside and managed to hold on.

  • @jesse0192 I believe they call it luck!! Standing the bike up is a great way to high side your bike. If he was a good rider, his head wouldn't have been over the tank. Who are these people that ride this road with no body position skill!!

  • @chrissivadm How could he have saved it without standing the bike up? He was already about to lowside
