I know it seems an obvious thing to say, but because it was the Beeb, back then, they had to declare that it was a, 'public information film.' After all, we wouldn't want anyone thinking it might be.. (shock, horror!!) ...an, 'advertisement', on the BBC!! How times have changed..
They have to say that on the BBC, or they did, so as to distance the corporation from the films. Or something, I actually have no idea why they have to do it but they do.
I always thought it was to show that the BBC were not broadcasting an advert, but a PIF.
I'm on a film and TV production course and you won't believe how many of the other students on this course refer to PIFs as "adverts" or "commercials".
@penlad11 this thursday's bbc schedule has a nature programme (instead of tomorrow's world, let's say), crimewatch (which has been on since 1985), eastenders, the news, the one show (not any more disposable than totp), and question time. matt houston is clearly drivel. so: was the lenny henry show really that good, or are you just talking shite?
