The turn all in, was the most idiotic play ever, regardless of the outcome, he only gets better hands too call, and folds out the hands, that would continue too bluff the river..

This is the most easiest check/call and check/ re-evaluate river, in the history of poker..

Results set aside, the all in, is just the worst..

That guy was sort of an asshole, but that was his strategy.

That push on the turn was really really stupid and Scotty admited it later.

It was one of those "You won't push me around" bets, which fold out worse hands, but will get a call from dominating hands.

Sad that this sort of ego-thing probably cost Scotty ME title..

Mistake can be done by anyone. Scotty made a huge mistake. But I do not blame him. Scotty admits his mistake in the interview and looked like he wanted to cry so bad. I felt for him. But he won WSOP 2008 HORSE event subconsciously. He learned his mistake and become better player than he already was.

Kopp made nearly as horrible mistake as Scotty but Kopp is a joke since he can't admit his own mistake and says it was a bluff to make Moon fold by representing a full house.

Scotty made a mistake. Mistake can be done by anyone. Nobody's perfect. Scotty admits it. I really felt bad when he was eliminated and then talks on the interview. He felt so terrible to the point where it looked like he wanted to cry in front of the tv. But hey, he came back next year and won 2008 50k HORSE event.

True. Three other things regarding Kopp. #1- Darvin definitely got lucky but when you get on a roll, you're like a runaway truck. It's dangerous to mess with you. #2. Scotty is older and more mature than Kopp. #3. Kopp spent six years undergrad at college and said he has no plans to finish anytime soon. Why do you go for six years undergrad just to drop out? Kopp better get lucky soon because he might be broke if he goes back to UK.

Sad that Scotty got eliminated 11th place over this hand. I think he wanted to fight big stack because Hilm was pissing Scotty off and Hilm always tried to bully Scotty. Hilm previously tried to bully Scotty by pushing all in with JQ high when Scotty had full house. Would've been really nice if Scotty made it to final table at least to show that established pros and champs still got what it takes to make it to final table in main event no matter how many amateurs and donks there are in the event

What was he trying to accomplish? What hand could he bluff out? If Scotty's hand is good, there's no need to make that bet. And if his hand isn't good, and Hilm has a set or KQ, Hilm won't fold. If Hilm is bluffing or has a weaker queen, a simple call on the turn and check/call on the river will win the most chips from him.

I know, right? Scotty simply blew up. My guess is that Scotty put him on some type of straight draw. Even then, he should have lead out the turn with a 2/3rd pot bet. The massive check-raise was pathetic because as you suggested, Scotty only gets called if he is beat.

I dont think theres much analysis to be done here. It was pretty obvious that scotty was acting on emotion rather than logic. He admitted it himself later. So trying to figure out what scotty was thinking when he pushed is just a waste of time.

I really think some of Scotty's bad behaviour at the HORSE final table this year can be traced right back here. It's one thing for a poker player to lose by getting sucked out. One can at least rationalize that as the luck factor embedded in poker. But to get this close and blow it on a bad play is...none of us can even fathom it I think, as there are no former WSOP main event winners posting here.
