  • Canada freed the dutch FACT>> During 1945, the First Canadian Army was responsible for liberating the Netherlands, which they did through battles such as the Battle of the Scheldt and the Liberation of Arnhem. The liberation of the Randstad, one of the most densely populated areas in the world <<<

it why the honour us with a ceremony and tulips ^_^ we also helped the Belgians

  • Something I will never understand... the guy Jeremy is talking about in this particular segment was recomended & refused a VC... but listening to what he did during the battle I think he more than earned it...

  • LOL, fake tiger used in saving private ryan. T-34 chassis.

  • Fascinating.

  • The men who have been awarded the VC are more than amazing. True turning your anger againest the enemy is powerful but saving your friends is more powerful than anything on earth.

  • Urgh stop arguing on my video guys! @fuggsakes - I normally like Canadians but honestly if you have nothing good to say shut up. And @Factnotfictionpeople don't stereotype please it just encourages the morons. No hating of any nationality tolerated on this vid from now on!

  • @167ray - Why not simply delete all the idiot nationalistic comments immediately? This isn't about nations it's about the actions of great men. If some Canadian or whoever has some national inferiority complex then just remove the comment without even recognising it. Perhaps then they'll get the message. If ever there was a posting where sad little trolls should be treated with the contempt they deserve, this is it.

  • Its funny just how pathetic all of the british weapons were in ww2 crusader, piat, sten, webley all total shit

  • @fuggsakes The Lee-Enfield rifle certainly wasn't shit neither was the Vickers heavy machine gun nor the Bren gun. Those weapons you mentioned were cheap to make and worked that's all that mattered back then, but yeah the piat was shit, my grandad had the misfortune to have to use one lol

  • @fuggsakes Lee-Enfields and Brens were fine weapons. Even Crusaders had their moments, such as taking out Tigers. Yes, you read that right.

  • @fuggsakes The Sten had a habit of working when you pulled the trigger somthing other weapons at the time frequently did not. The Sten 2 was the first surpressed machene gun to be made en mass. Favoured by commandos, marines and paratroopers for that reason. It did the job pretty damn well to.

  • @fuggsakes I know what you mean: Hurricane, Spitfire, Lancaster.........its amazing that we won. But then, we also had the British Soldier (sailor, Airman) and they were (and are) the best! So you see, it isn't always what you have - its how you use it. :-)

  • @Factnotfictionpeople sarcasm is very hard to portray on the internet, but surely you are being sarcastic when you say spitfire, lancaster and hurricane? 3 of the greatest aircraft ever made.

  • @qwertyuiopm250 Yes, I am! That pillock 'fuggsakes' really has no idea about the stuff that made many of the victories in Europe possible - and how many owe their success to the British. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers. :-)

  • @Factnotfictionpeople no worries, sarcasm really doesnt come across well on the internet :)

  • @qwertyuiopm250 Thanks. :-)

  • @Factnotfictionpeople Sherman, liberty ship, hand me down escorts...oh wait sorry those are all american just like everything else that gave england the chance to live in the war, and british soldiers were the best?? LOL thats a joke the best soldiers of the war were WAY the Germans

  • @fuggsakes As a Canadian, I'm surprised you're so paly with the yanks. Lets not forget, the yanks loathe you lot for several reasons - one of which is you're allied to us. And as a typical member of the USA/Canadian continent, you use 'england' (not even a capital letter! to descirbe the UNITED KINGDOM! WE BOUGHT all the help we got from the USA - we were killing the Boche before the yanks even knew where Europe was . so please, don't show your ignorance in this way.......

  • @Factnotfictionpeople England, united kingdom, britain, great britain, filthy imperialist superior bully island nation, thats all semantics, the brits were getting killed, not killing and using american supplies to do it from day one learn your history, and the americans dont loathe me, im Canadian too

  • @fuggsakes You a Frog-Cannuck? Look, I'M NOT CANADIAN - okay. As for the yanks looking down on Canada - its a fact! Look how they view your Dollar for instance. But whatever, the facts were we, (Great Britain), were fighting Hitler's lot for OVER 2 years before The USA was dragged in by an attack on its soil, otherwise, chances are they'd have stayed neutral. Also, if you're going to keep going on, please make it intelligable! I refer to your single, badly capitalised, disjointed paragraph...

  • @Factnotfictionpeople The US dollar?? you know these days its hardly worth more than the canadian dollar, and with the impending inflation crisis it will soon be worth nothing

  • @fuggsakes So I see, about 10Cents or so - oh well, its all about manipulation anyway! Someone, somewhere, is out to get us.....

  • @Factnotfictionpeople Christ youre stupid, youre a little out of your depth here pal, take on someone your on size

  • 00.48 : leon the professional anyone ? ... > >

  • Now here is an unique one, an Englishman who can say Oosterbeek nearly right. Well done Jeremy!

Of course the real glory is Robert Cain's..

  • This tiger that they talk about was actually a StuG

  • I am truly Humbled!!

  • that weapon really was almost completely useless, a shell exploded a few feet from his face and he not only survived but managed to recover less than an hour later. why did the army keeps using it? surely they've got better weapons to use and can afford to issue the army those weapons.

  • A true hero and legend. Not many of them to the pound.

  • watched this before but still..bloddy hell. Amazing documentary..also..the courage and determination of these men? just incredible

  • In the case that anyone does want to know, the music at 50seconds is 'noon' by eric serra - a wonderfully emotional tune from a quite superb film

  • That is some amazing stuff. What a hero.
