this did not work for me, but my flip had a battery compartment, and customer service showed me how to get to it, and take the battery pack out for 1 minute, then put it back in and that reset the camera :)

@NickBMaster So, you found the pinhole to reset your Flip video camera, but it didn't start working yet? Yes, it's possible that it needs charging.

For additional support, go into my video's description, I have links for more Flip customer support.

Hope you can find the answer. Some of the older Flip video cameras don't have the reset button and all I can say is some have had success taking out the batteries for a couple of days, then reinstalling fresh one. Good luck!

my flip has done this before but i got it to work. its been a while since i have used it so i tried using the power button and that did not work so i plugged it into my USB in my computer so it can charge and it just has a white light flashing so i hit the reset button on the bottom and it is still not working. any ideas

@LockAndLoaded95 You didn't need to reset it, the battery is just dead. Let it charge for a few hours. If the white light flashes, that simply tells you it's charging.

@LovebugProductions1 I don't know about the latest models. The ones I bought have a built in battery. I think they do have some kind of a battery pack for new ones, but I'm not sure if it's an accessory that you have to purchase. If anyone knows, please make a comment.

Thanks a lot. I would have never known that that tinnie tiny little button was even there. I pushed it 3 times holding down for 12 seconds just to be sure. Plugged it into my computer and after a few minutes one red light turned on then after a few more they both turned on and my flip camera was operational once again. Thanks again.

Mine will turn on, but it wont' charge. The USB part thing, the cover of it is jammed, kinda. I didn't think it was a problem because when I slipped it back into place it work and charged fine, but when I charge it it comes loose because the cover to it is jammed, so I just put it back in place and I think no worries. and then a few months later, I go to charge it but it does charge. and you said it will restart. @MrMilkisnice This technique does not work on the 1st generation of Flip video camcorders as there is no reset button. I'd call their tech support to see if they have any ideas for the older ones: 888-222-6689. I they they are 24/7.

I appreciate your video. This worked perfectly, more than one time. FYI for anyone, first time i only had to hold it down for 7 seconds, once. this time that didnt work, and doing it the three times did the trick! also, the paperclip thing should be a delicate push, so you can feel the reset button depress and release. Just jammin in the paperclip does not work cuz you can miss the actual button inside the hole..

This works on the Flip UltraHD's as well by pressing the power button instead of this reset button. Try just sitting there and pressing and holding the power button a few times in a row to "drain the power" and it will usually boot back up. Another thing you may want to try is taking out the battery when trying this.

It worked! The only suggestion I would add is to be patient once you do the reset sequence and plug it in. After I did the sequence and plugged it in, it took about 45 minutes for it to even start charging on my computer. It took about another 3-4 hours for it to completely charge, then after that it was like new. I didn't even lose any footage that was on there at the time it froze.
