  • That dude that plays the guy who hit her with a rock really freaks me out. I'm really afraid of him every time the music comes on it seems like he its going to do something really bad

  • "The weaker sex is stronger than the stronger sex, because of the weakness of the stronger sex for the weaker sex."

MARGARET BREAKS HIS HEART AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN...

I feel truly sorry for him, to see her with all these other man, must be like a "slap in his face", again and again and again...

  • @BLUAMOONA u got that right

  • 2:38 see the microphone on the top

  • i'm sorry but how hot is fred? yowzah :)

  • this series is strikingly similar to pride and prejudice..the intense forbidden love, opposite status, family chaos and drama, financial security, rejection, pride, prejudice, misinformation, overbearing mothers only difference is that mr.darcys father and mothers death correlate to miss hale's family....i like'em both!

  • @carolmarzha24 that's exactly what i thought!!!

  • @mychemfreak246 It's dye from the factories.

  • @mychemfreak246 the water is purple because Barney bathes in it

  • @nymamae Very funny.

  • @nymamae LMAO :D

  • what the hell is he doing there in the middle of the night?

  • okay so wtf did her mom die from??

  • @BFFsCrew broken heart, moving to the north because she doesn't like it, her son being in another country. You know you can die from a broken heart--- if you decide you want to die, you'll die.

  • @BFFsCrew The disease is never named even in the book. We are told only that it is terrible and that almost no one recovers from it.

  • @BFFsCrew in old books people just die away without proper explination, propably cause at the time many diseases weren't propaly diagnosed, and so on. people just died in real life as well, just like that

  • oh mr thornton came to the funeral

  • 9:15. How sweet, Thornton is concerned for miss hale and her father. Poor Mr Hale seems in shock over the death of his lovely wife.

  • 5:41 .....awkward ?

  • I think Margaret's remarkably strong. Her father uproots her entire existence and she's the only one in their family that stays strong. She has too. She can't cry. She can't be angry. She just has to keep everything all bottled inside. Even delivering bad news, she's the only one with the balls to do so. Very courageous. It's mistaken for coldness, but it's just because she can't show the emotion. If she does, then they'll all fall apart.

  • @peanutvera

You're right on. That's how the book portrays it.

  • WOW, Thornton again manages to be somewhere at the exact time and place Margaret is too. Again.

  • @mollymoon565 i knew it, he´s a stalker :D

  • Some people apparently believe that the actress that plays Margaret is unfeeling. I think she does an impecable job of being the quiet and non-whining heroine. She suffers a lot on the inside, much like Anne Eliott of Austen's Persuasion. Plus, I think she's absolutelly lovely. She's not the typical beauty, tall and completelly slender. But she has the most beautiful eyes and skin. She's unique - which makes her memorable. Thornton also has this quality, which makes them perfect together.

  • THe soundtrack is excellent....It truly proves the emotion...

  • 2:30-2:40, I first I thought it was a hanging lantern of some sort, now I see it's a mic

  • is fred older than margaret?

  • Is it weird that I don't like the female lead? She just has total lack of emotion, and I don't know if that's because that's how she is portrayed in the book but it bothers me. Makes me wanna slap her sometimes.

  • @queenrei34

It is very much her character. The book is very similar in regards to her emotions. However the book gives more inner monologue about how she does feel. It is frustrating to watch sometimes.

  • @queenrei34 She isn't like this in the book. She does cry over things but I don't suppose floods of tears make good film, also crying makes most people ugly, which isn't really the idea here.

  • @queenrei34 me too! she seems stupid to me

  • y am i not felling the mother's death....i was not the least bite moved

  • It's the people that stay by you in tragic times you remember. They don't have to say anything but their actions are comfort.

  • Margaret is a gangstar, she has not shed a tear for her friend, mother or father.

  • @lalatrinigirl

Be reasonable, Margaret looks to me like the only person in this family who can organise anything, who will run things if she falls apart? She has to stay in control of herself.

  • Dangg Rupert Evans is sooo hot!

  • Don't you just love Mrs. Thornton? What a marvelous old battle-axe she is! She's no nimmony-pimmony miss!

  • have to say, the styling of margaret's hair is really lovely and completely suits her, one of the nicest (in my modern opinion) I've seen in a period drama that isn't hideously off putting, see anne elliot's in persuasion 07! :')

  • fred is reaaally cute...

  • 8:02 Margaret is so pretty!

  • where are the Dutch subtitles? I got so used to them, now I have a feeling something's missing ))

  • @MrGreyKa lol :)

  • i know what it feels like to lose a mother at such a young age i was 17 when mine passed its something only someone else whos gone through it knows.

  • Isn't that guy who plays Fred he who plays Frank Churchill in the latest made adaptation of Jane Austens Emma?

  • @carboneyeful yeppers =D

  • Did she and fred kiss on the lips!?

  • @animefetish no if you look closely she turns her cheek to him

  • The discovery of aniline dyes in the mid-victorian period made it possible to dye cloth all shades of purple and violet and there was an enormous craze for these colours, especially as they were considered suitable for half-mourning. Consequently there would have been plenty of 'run off' from the factories.

  • Leslie Manville dies beautifully! My mother is 90 and I hope when the time comes she has an equally 'easy' end.

  • Margaret's brother is HOTT! Yum.

  • Did Margaret not notice Thornton there in the church? I was wondering if that was the case at first - the case of him looking back at her as though she should've taken appreciation to his presence instead.

  • Ok, who the hell is Edith?

  • @murraythehotscot edith is her sister...at the beginning it was her wedding... and she was there in london or whatever....when they were looking at the inventions and stuff

  • @chichimonkixpikachu Right, I'm just reading the book and it says that Edith is her cousin, Mrs Shaw's daughter. I know they differ slightly from each other but surely they wouldn't change that?

  • @murraythehotscot you know how those directors are, they will change anything. Even if it doesnt matter they dont listen to the details. xDD

  • @chichimonkixpikachu Yeah, who cares about a little thing like detail, eh? ;)

  • @murraythehotscot exactly! xDDD lol

  • @murraythehotscot It's the same in the series. Edith is her cousin. Mrs Shaw and Mrs Hale are sisters. They did not change anything about that. It just doesn't come out very well.

  • Thornton just HAD to friggin be there at that one moment!!

  • blimey why is mr T there at the station..he souldn't follow hale around too much..it is bad for him.

  • God this movie i soo sad .. but i love it <3

  • 5:44 Never mind the girl- what was Mr. Thornton doing at the train station so late in the night???lol!!

  • Her brother is so cute and a nice person.

  • poor boucher he was the most reluctant to join the union and when he did he had to suffer the most being the father of six starving children.higgins with his inflammatory speeches made him come to this.

  • how can she not cry at this moment?

  • sry, but what time was that? were women already allowed at funerals?

  • I HATE THAT SHE WONT TELL THORTON THAT HES HER BROTHER! it makes me so sad! i love him and she is purposely hurting him!

  • @luvsbooks95 She isn't purposely hurting him, she cant let anyone know about her brother, she doesnt want him to get hanged :/

  • Did Mr. Thorton think that Fred was her sweetheart not her brother???

  • @mimimirwitch yes probably. he's a strange man, thornton probably didn't even know she has a brother.

  • I half expected Dixon to insist on making the arrangements herself, like Ruth's maid in "Fried Green Tomatoes At the Whistlestop Cafe."

  • I love how the LAST idea was to get a lawyer....hahaha I'm sure it has something to do with the time period, but seriously...the town crier, a pamphlet,....THEN a lawyer haha

  • the purple = pollution; the same junk they put into America's streams and rivers. they dispose dangerous toxins into waterways.

  • she barely ever cries. so much death and barely one tear. sheesh I'd be bawling like a baby!

  • Shame on Mr. Bell for sleeping through the funeral! ;)

  • What is John doing wandering around the train station in the middle of the night?! O_o Weirdness.

  • i love fred hes so pretty and nice lol!!

  • I just realised the policeman at the ends of man stroke woman! :S ive watched this series so many times and only just realised! :L

Thanks so much for these!! :D xxx And their all in such good quality aswell! :) x

  • her brother is smokin'!! woot woot! haha ;)

  • why in the world is Thornton always where he should not be, seeing what he should not see, and interpreting things how he should not interpret them! Grrrr!

  • @acceptanceisbliss

He is a man. This should be sufficient answer for the last point, at the very least. :P

  • Congratulations to all of you discussing your "charitable" works to all of the "ungrateful masses". It was always my understanding that one should give to those less fortunate without asking for anything in return. To those who give with love, compassion for human suffering, without looking down their noses at those in need, bless you!

  • i like it that at least for the funeral service margaret and her family serve as a link between the manufacturers and workers

  • Oh, Freddie. ;)

  • Fred was cute in Hellboy, too.

  • @musicchic879

    Fred was in Hellboy?

  • @BADLN5 Yep, Rupert Evans played Agent John Myers

  • I feel so bad that anyone ever had to live like that. To die of starvation b/c the government did not take care of their people. Children starving and neglected b/c parents can not work to feed or give them a warm room to sleep.... man that is just so depressing....I'd love to go back in time in some portal to bring relief from this modern time where there is plenty....where even the poorest of us are fat with too much to eat. Just so sad to even watch that man wander hungry and living wild.

  • u dont need a portal to travel back in time. there are plenty of hungry, sick, orphaned babies and children in 3rd world countries, like those in africa, or haiti, parts of south america, and the list can go on and on.

  • No, duh. But just think how much more faster, easier, safer to step from one space to another in seconds. And I do my part and more for this modern age thats gone to spit. Most of them are ungrateful and take it as their right. I'm sure a few really appreciate the donations. I give 10% of my pay to charity every week. It doesn't even make a dent unfortunately. So I say again.....think of that door in 'Lost in Austen' , how much easier and how much more effective....it would be wonderful!!

  • i dont know if i fully agree on the gratefulness factor, but the door like the one in "lost in austen" would be wonderful, especially if it can take you to a place where your help would be most appreciated. and kudos about the charities that you support. my personal belief is that every penny, every small donation makes a difference. so u never know, it may make some dent.

  • Thank you. I'm sure the dent or appreciation is felt somewhat by some few persons. But mostly the human nature is to take and expect.... few appreciate. I've done the outdoor soup kitchens and one in twenty say thank you or allow that it is a gift of the heart. The majority grab and run off without looking at us or saying anything. Or complain oddly about not enough salt etc....just not normal. And as for many other donation centres ...its like a tornado of rudeness and high expectations.

  • I know we should never weary in well doing, but I find it better to chose my charities now for those who I know will appreciate and progress rather than be happy to beg and live in slums b/c they know they will be petted and encouraged to stay so by ppl that give too much heart. You know.... I much prefer to attend on the children and the animals. The children can be helped to frame a mind full of ideals and dream of a future. And the shelter animals...lol they just love you for being there.

  • hey mcelderry100, she looks great 'english looking' or not

but it may be that she is of Polish and French descent-look up Daniella Dendy Ashe on Wikipedia

  • my my my. fred is yummy as well.

  • Fred...sexy??? Maybe. Henry is very nice looking but John is of course the main dish...the rest are just mere appetizers compared to him...Oh but how I would love to feast at that buffet...

  • haha, thorton's jealous of fred x]

  • idk why but something about this portrayal of margaret bothers me...the movie just makes her seem a bit annoying in weird ways

  • I agree, and she looks very eastern european to me, not very English...

  • @Skatingangel44 Couldn't agree more. She's a total square.

  • Despite the excellent casting for most character, why that woman for Dicken? She just came in with a smile and a nod as if to say "Dinner's ready" when their mother is about to die.

  • there's a lot of crying in this film. and indeed ..

    fred is sexy ;)

  • Sexy Fred!

  • A ninny? Selfish??? He is hiding from the gallows! I would think anyone would do the very same. And all Margaret does is wipe foreheads and be a comfort, I would hardly put the pressure of "caring for them all" on her. She is a good daughter, yes, but most of her distraught is mental/emotional. And this would be greatly added to if Fred were to be hanged.

  • Ya know, Thornton must think Margaret is some kind of vixen. First, when he proposed to her, he thought there were "others", then he met Henry who obviously liked her, now, she's hugging this guy in the middle of the night! Especially for those times...I'm just saying, lol

  • @tiffers1912

lmao...so right, what the hell was he thinking all the time?!

  • Comment removed

  • Fred is really lovely.

  • I cant help but think Fred is so selfish and a ninny boy... If only I was here to help you.. if it wasn't for the risk... Margaret cares for them all, the father, the mother and even having to help Ms Dickson. No wonder she is so.. what does Mrs. Thorton call her so strong minded. Fred is such a coward!

  • yeah, but he's cute ;) <3 his accent!

  • why is the water purple?

  • you'll get the awnser in the next part at 3:05.

  • Yikes...you were right :/

  • Comment removed

  • @xbonesrbeautiful89x because of the die they use in the cotton.

  • 2:00! It's EDINBURGH!

  • how many people die? its so sad!!!!!

  • Yeah this story has a pretty high body count...brace yourself.

  • That's Victorian Britain for you!

  • Read Gaskell's "Mary Barton" for a really high body count.

  • i can't decide which i like better; frederick or thornton

  • Haha. Didi you see that look Thornton gave Fred and Margaret. It was like "I WILL KILL YOU". Poor John he must be so brokenhearted. And Fred is really cute too.

  • Why is everyone dying???

  • Fred is a hottie :)

  • *sigh* Best period film I've ever seen! Armtage is very swoon worthy which doesnt hurt either...

  • I can't stop crying ='(.
