Loved Jill's "It's David Hunter, isn't it?! Oh, I hate him!". Ever the loyal daughter! Crossroads was much like the American daytime soaps of the same era (like As the World Turns and Guiding Light), and the British did take it to their hearts. However, the more pretentious members of society despised the show. If you talk to most people over 60 today, they will recall the soap with great affection, particularly the characters of Meg, Jill, Adam and Miss Diane.
Paul Henry who played "Benny" on the series said in an interview that actors didn't get that sack that contracts come to an end. Noele's contract had not ended so I would say she was sacked. It was a dark day in British Television when she was axed from the show. Nolly didn't take anything lying down she went on and appear on stage. Thanks for all the memories Nolly.
@Tiggzg Well some may see it as so, Central decided not to give her a contract and ATV couldn't give a contract as it was no longer in the position to do so without the ITV franchise.
She was never sacked from Central, she just was never offered a job with them in the first place.
@ATVNETWORKLIMITED Guess we have to agree to differ, she helped get ATV Midlands on the air. She was the only one on Staff, Central took over from ATV so to me it was a firing. Without her the station may never have lasted as long as it did, therefore Central may never had the chance to take ATV over. But like I say we have to agree to differ I think.
She was beautiful actress with a wonderful and a great sense of humour. Crossroads will never be the same without her and we new it would fail. She was Crossroads, she died too young, we will miss you Nolly RIP
Noele was a childhood hero of mine, and I always felt I knew her. When I first saw this Russell Harty Show, I cried like mad when she sang Goodbye.
After this I saw her 37 times in Call Me Madam, and it took me 11 times of looking at her at the Stage Door to actually pluck up the courage to speak to her. After that we spoke every night and kept in contact after.
Noele Gordon you were, and always will be a true legend and a total Goddess
@kennysyt I meet Noele in 1979/80 in Halesowen West Midlands at the local football club. A charity football match Bev Bevan of ELO was playing in the match.Noele wore a cream 2 piece suit. A double decker bus was her dressing room. I have a autographed picture, and recall asking about Larry Grayson. I have a friend Tom Bun who was Larry Graysons best friend. I post Big Ben medley on here with lizabeth webb and nolly on.
@gf1001 I just want to thank you for all the Noelle Gordon clips I was so in love with her growing up, she was a real lady. I only wish I had met her. She really was crossroads and the show failed because she wasn't there. If you more I would love to see them.
Again thanks so much for taking the time to upload these thank God for the internet I get to see her again.

@Theidrid Well the contract came to an end in December 1981, they just told her she wasn't getting a contract from Central TV for 1982.

@ATVNETWORKLIMITED She was on contract though with ATV the only one that was. I would think that meant she was fired.
