Having personally followed Mr. Scranton's research since its inception, I can vouch that he's not trying to undermine Dogon cosmology in the least, but rather confirming what you say -- that the Dogon are in possession of actual factual knowledge that can be used to further Western science and culture to a more advanced level. Having personally followed Mr. Scranton's research since its inception, I can vouch that he's not trying to undermine Dogon cosmology in the least, but rather confirming what you say -- that the Dogon are in possession of actual factual knowledge that can be used to further Western science and culture to a more advanced level. My compliments to the Hogons for keeping this knowledge alive and intact.

@conner581 thANKHs my friend. The only problem I have with Mr. Scranton, with whom I have personally spoken a few years ago, is about semantics. Semantics is a big deal to every Dohgon because it is how AfRAkan Spirituality, which involved the study of ANKHcient WISDOM, was watered down into western science in the form of philosophy. Mr. Scranton describes Dohgon WISDOM as philosophy. I detest it. We are not philosophers. We are COSMOGONISTS! ThANKHs again!

@conner581 I agree! When I talked with Mr. Scranton, my emphasis was on why he had no mention about Dohgon Cosmogony in his bookThe Science of The Dogon. He told me he wanted to compare philosophies. I told him The DOHgon are not philosophers, so how can you compare them to the hindus, buddhists, christians or moslims? He could not provide an adequate response. That's my concern!

@dohgonmomoh -- The comparisons he makes are in the symbols, buildings and daily practices. The granaries of the Dogon fulfill similar functions on a symbolic level to that of the stupas of the hindus and buddhists, or the sukkot of the Jews and likely have roots in related religions to the Dogon. If the great truths of the world can be imagined as a jigsaw puzzle, then the Dogon hold the critical pieces to allow us to see the whole picture of truth

@conner581 But The Original Dohgon, up to the 1700s had no religion. My Great, Great, Great GrandFTHR was A Dohgon High Priest teaching at The Universities Timbuktu in the late 1700s. His children became moslim, and they were kicked out of The Dohgon. That's why I was born in Sierra Leone, and had to struggle to discover my true connection to my GREAT ANKHcestor. Therefore, to make the statement about The Dohgon and religion is totally unacceptable.

The only thing I dred about this is that these advanced people are so readily to reveal this info to these outsiders. These men right her maybe genuine in there approach and humbled by what they have learned, but other westerners, and ignorant colonized minded blacks given the history I would not trust them among these people or there traditions. These people were too ignorant to have a writing system, therefore the so called "ancient oral traditions" can NEVER be verified. This is more pathetic than Georgio Tskoulas on the Ancient Aliens series claiming that the funny masks they danced in were proof of alien vistitations. @EducatedRebellion101 The earliest record of missionaries visiting the Dogon tribe is in 1949, but the Dogon relayed their knowledge of Astrology and Sirius B to the anthropologist Marcel Griaulein in the late 30's to early 40's, so please explain how they could have possibly repeated a story they heard from missionaries that they hadn't even met yet? (this should be good, lol)
