  • @jonthediscobandit Are you a big Joe Jackson fan? If so, would you happen to have annnny idea what song Joe sang on his *first* appearance on 'The Jimmy Kimmel Show- Live'? I saw Joe on there way back in 2003, or 2004?, and I loved the song Joe played. I have not been able to find out what song it was (really wish I had written down some of the lyrics), and I would be so thankful if someone could tell me, or at least tell me where I might be able to find out. Thank you in advance. : )

  • VICE CITY ALL DAY BABY!!!

  • Of all the cats to come out of the late 70's, Joe Jackson would have to be one of the hippest. As you can see, and hear, he had a style all his own. Too bad it didn't last. He had more talent than most in TODAY'S Music industry; Believeth Thou It!

  • ..ive been looking for this song for 20 years w/ no name and i finaly found it...i can rest now

  • @UnseenEntityMetal I know what you mean. As a kid, I always pictured an airplane in the sky when I heard this music. It really stuck with me, and as an adult I had it in my head, even though I hadn't heard it for 20 years. When it came on the TV one day, it was like seeing a ghost.

  • This song is the bomb-diggity.

  • thumbs up if Vice City led you here!

  • Now this is music! It's sensitive, adventurous, and colorful as well as tranquilent. All the so-called music with "singing"( that really is screaming like they got their testicles caught in the salad shooter) can eat their hearts out!

  • @thehoosierfortheUK AND ADDICTIVE !

  • @thehoosierfortheUK this song sounds even better than it did all those years ago. makes me wish we could go back to the early 80s. this was back when mtv actually played music videos.

  • This song epitomizes my childhood. Right along with Solsbury Hill and Dy'er Maker. If it weren't for having awesome parents I'd be stuck reminiscing about Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. God forbid. D:

  • One of the archetypal New York songs and simply a standout. Warm and wonderful memories of listening to this song on the radio when it first came out as a prepubescent while driving around the Big Apple at night.

  • @TheIncognito62 Nothing personal, but why the hell would you go to Austin Texas for Spring Break?

That town is like # 4,562 on the list of places to go for Spring Break.

    LOL

  • reminds me of vice city

  • just reminds me of miami :S

  • Wow, that really looks like Jennifer Beals (3:15). She would have been pretty young. Maybe a year before Flashdance.

  • Thumbs up if your getting tired of seeing people put comments saying I wish people would stop putting comments up to get thumbs up.

  • i wish i could experience the new york night life with this song playing all night long.

  • I think this is a mysterious song.

  • This video makes it feel it was quite an experience to go out or dream about going out in the town in Manhattan through Park Avenue back in those days. Even though there were like 500 murders a year. But still, life seemed better in those days.

  • The Fab 80s !!!

  • @GreatTasteInMusic

    pretty much

  • @jonthediscobandit Thanx for posting this. It's great to see that video and to hear that song again!

  • Today I was the grocery store and over the speakers they were playing this song. I had completely FORGOTTEN ABOUT IT! It immediately took me back to my U days in the very early 80s here in Chicago. It 'll always remind me of a very good friend of mine at the time, Bernie. He said it was a very melancholy song. He and I have lost touch but this will make think of him.

  • Vice Cityy

  • it's a cryin shame they dont make music like this anymore. it really is. thanks for posting. God bless

  • Go ahead, someone tell me little eleven-year-old Joe Jackson of Portsmouth UK wasn't listening to Gary Lewis & the Playboys' "Count Me In" and "Green Grass" on the pirate broadcasts. PS he looks like Skeeve Buscemi with better teeth in some shots-- strange the Briton has better choppers.

  • ☆good☆

  • I love this song. No matter what any one says Joe has a voice like no other.

  • @TheLordofComedy Andy Partridge is close. In think I think they are the same person.

  • i always thought the maid was hot!!!

  • Dear gfaverill It's not unbelievable that she was chosen for her looks as well as her acting ability !!!

  • joe jackson-stepping out, is beautiful.joe jackson is one of my favorite musicians. gi joe989

  • i haven't even seen any stupid target commercials. not only do i rarely watch tv, but i certainly don't watch the commercials! what's wrong with you lol

  • good song of the 80's !!

  • i spent the first 14 years of my life looking for this sonc cuz i heard it once wen i was little. I finally found it when i was at the rock hall of fame in cleveland in this awsome restraunt with amazing pecan carmel silk pies. now im hungry!

  • @JesterofRejection I had the same thing with "America" by KBC Band. I only finally found it in Spring 2009. I remember calling the Star Station Network's on-air staff to find out who did this song, and even they didn't know. Turned out, my uncle was a Joe Jackson fan.

Night & Day - Perhaps one of the most understated and underrated albums to come from the 80's.

  • Gta Vice City!!!! And a great episode from Nip/Tuck!! Simply excellent!

  • Excellent.

  • To me this is what the department store santas should be playing at christmas time ;)

  • god been looking for a long time to here this song ty youtube

  • One of those tunes I loved the first time I heard it and that I still love all these years later. God I wish i was 22 again... damn.

  • I was only 5 in '82, but I remember this song playing in my dad's El Camino. Timeless. It really makes me wanna go out and dance!

  • This brings back some memories - I was a teenager when this song came out. When MTV actually played Music Videos!!!

  • immortal...

  • i automatically think of GTA Vice City when i hear this song:)

  • The bass line slays.

  • VICE CITY!!!!

  • @mrsmtnman wow...thats exactly why i got on here to search for this song....it's so right,

  • 80's rock

  • Classic song from 1982 and his biggest hit. A will written song and a great video to booth. I always get a kick out the flashing walk light at 2:13. they don't write many songs like anymore.

  • one of my top ten male singers.... great voice. thanks for posting

  • this song has some lydian harmony in it.... that's what makes it sound so nice. A lydian and D lydian. love that raised 4th. hahaha

  • I'm in love with this harmony now. before I knew about music, i listened to this song while playing GTA Vice City and it was nice, but now is great.

  • For some reason I hear this everytime I do late night grocery shopping or when I'm at an airport.

  • Thumbsup if you remember driving your girl and friends in your Firebird between bars all night with this song kicking. That time was so great back then.

  • ty ty been looking for this song for yrs thanks love it love it GOD BLISS YOU TUBE !!!!!!!

  • this vid brings chills to my skin, I love that era of my life when this song was all over radio and MtV

  • This was one of my favorite songs when I was growing up, surprised it doesn't get more radio play on the 80's stations these days. I used to play "Vice City" and cruise around in the lambo listening to this song.

  • Love, love, love it.... Class....

  • In my top 10 of all time fav 80s music..thanks for posting

  • This song inspired of lot of my own poetry. It gives me a feeling of transcendence that no other song can.

  • @Gregorius1953 Try listening to songs by Kenichiro Nishihara. ^_^

  • @Bagelboy615 I will give that a try for sure, thanks!

  • Ive been looking for this song for MONTHS!

  • What a bassline!!!!!!!

  • @ronniedoll 80s basslines are excellent in general. True, they were often done on a synth, but they're easily playable on a bass guitar.

    I LOVE 80s MUSIC!

  • What a great simple song. The beat is so up. I love it. One thing for sure....I am in love. Working on building a great relationship with a great man. Our issue is distance. About 1500 miles. It's great to fall in love with someone who you can't touch yet. It builds on love not on sex. What a perfect way to start it. It has felt right since that first moment. This song gives that feeling. That freedom to feel that love. To feel total happiness. OH...I'm Genie. In love with rexrocknroll.

  • @Muffett53 I can certainly relate; with a special someone :o).

  • Early 80's, Acropolis Pizza on Westcott Street in Syracuse, NY with my friends, hearing this song!!

  • Wow that dance scene is the mirror image of Al Pacino dancing with Michelle Phifeir (excuse sp) in scarface

  • One of the best songs of the '80s, and I'm not really a big '80s music fan. Probably because Joe Jackson himself was a musical misfit who never quite fit the mold of the times yet still managed to hit a chord with listeners. Anyway, this song not only epitomized the elegant charms of nighttime NYC, but also influenced me greatly as a performer and singer/songwriter myself.

  • I want to go back to 1982, to be 23 again, great music, cheap gas, better tv programs, anyone else agree.

  • @jwillis5039 Hell yeah teh 80's rock, wont single out one year but the whole entire decade.Alot simpler back then, yeah we were caught in the mix of regannomics but its not at all like it is now.Musci was alot simpler and fun, creative. Some people may look at the music as being cheesy but it was a whole diffrent cheese. The cheesiness lies on more of creativity not cheesy is just nothing more than what it is.TV programs,Happy Days,Three's Company,Ateam Miami Vice,i can go on and on,80's ROCK!!!!

  • A great song, and one of the most clever and entertaining videos I ever saw, back in the late fall of `82. Thanks for the post.

  • those that voted this A-rated song THUMBS DOWN has taste between their TOES. JJ's piano playing is what really makes this song great. Music is what makes a song lyrics are the same but when you change the style of the music the song sounds entirely different. I have heard great songs but when the music was rearranged or alter to sound different the entire songs were horrible.

  • those that voted this A-rated song of all times has taste between their toes.

  • i heard a snippet of the music on the Target commercial and i kept racking my brain trying to remember the song... i could remember the music perfectly but none of the lyrics till i hummed it to my mom. thanks for posting!!!

  • @gigga143 he also had a song called "Target"! It's the song before THIS ONE on the Night and Day LP!

  • @jasonpp1973 really??? i'll have to look that up.

  • One of the greatest songs ever.

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of the Target commercial featuring it at the end. This damn song is infectious! Been running through my head for days now. =)
