I use LST and Topping as well on a plant that fell sick and fell behind the others. It is now the bushiest and biggest, just went into flower two days ago. 5 gallon bucket with a 1000 watt hps.

Why does it matter how many bud sites there are? I grew a plant in my room a while back which was basically one bud. Got 8oz from it. only took up about 1 square foot of space. But I had 1600 Watts of HPS lights in a room the same size as yours...

When it's all done, over the next month I'll have 5 x 600W HPS's in a wardrobe that is 12' x 2'. That means each 600W light will be lighting an area of 2' x 2'4". The wardrobe is only 5' high so the volume is only 120 cubic feet. The inline extraction fan clears the room completely several times an hour, keeping it cool.

Mi room was a pretty similar space, yes probably about 25% bigger but lying on its side giving 8' x 4' of area to be light up rather than the 3' x 4'. I was referring to the total space of the grow room, not just the size of the plant

@DrPsilocybin Whatever you reckon mate. I started growing in 1984, 3 years before I ever smoked the stuff, lol. In 1989 I got my first light box. It was called a 'Phototron' and was heavily advertised for s while back there. Early '90's I got my first HPS and haven't looked back. I have done the experiments, tried every combination and I believe intensity is the key. Buds are way chunkier and if the seed company says 500 grams per m2, I know I can get at least 750.

@Dsaysfucku619 i fimd it at about the 4 or 5th set of nodes, then i tied the branches down as they got longer, topped them off too, then let all the secondary branches grow from the ones that were tied down, and voila! its kinda like the bonsia mum method, only not for clones. also i pruned mad leaves to promote branching, contrary to wut most growers say

FYI to all you CFL growers....Home Depot has a CFL that pushes 300 watts...but only drains 67. It cost $15 for the bulb. The "bulb" itself is huge...about 5 times a regular one. Fits into whatever lamp you are using now. I bought 3 for clones, seedlings and veging while I wait for HPS room to finish.

not a bad grow but can be better. and cfl is a good light to grow with if you know what your doing. i been using cfl for years from germination all the way to flowering. my minimum yield off one plant is bout 30 grams dried. veg for bout 5-6 weeks. top after the 5th budding node for indica:) enjoi

pretty decent for a CFL grow. Just a suggestion from an experienced farmer (that had a few CFL runs)... put them CFL's RIGHT on top of the plant. Leave about 3-5 inches between the bulbs and the canopy of the plant. It wont burn the plants, you can have the bulbs almost touching when you use CFL's. Try that next time and you will have a bigger yield for sure. Be safe- EX TeamGreen

Looks great. I go CFL too. For me I get very dence plants by using short fat hash plants 100% indica I also use much more light than you and end up with tight large buds. You have a good strain for low light. I'm suprised you got it t o be that thick. I wish you knew the strain. I go to aroud 30,000 lumens for 3 short plants. Veg is so thick you cant see past first canapi. I also keep topping until 1st week of flower. It grows so fast I only veg 1 week I will let a plant seed once in a while

The plants spread is nice. Is the reason you don't have the lights closer because of heat? You have to put those CFL's 2-3" away with a fan on them to really produce. Unless you want upward growth in veg. Take em up to 6" and the plant will stretch were you want it then bring them in when you want thick growth.

just so YOU know, hps lights are NOT more efficient than leds. a 600w hps light has a much higher (2x) lumen per watt ratio than cfl or led (600w hps = 90000 lumens = 150lumen per watt. 600w cfl = 42000 lumens = 70lumen per watt.) BUT, cfl and led are much closer to real light than hps so the usual lumens per watt rule does not apply. a 600w cfl or led WILL produce more weed than a 600w hps.

second, you say the color of light is more useful to the plants.yes it is,for vegging,and that being the case that is why people use Metal halide lamps,at 125 lumens per watt.

the only reason people are using leds and cfls is they think LED=efficient because thats the new technology.or CFLs=cheap and efficient. cuz they dont know any better

technically speaking, true efficiency is measured in grams per watt. if you're using hps or mh, you have to factor in extraction which, if you have a substantial grow room, can and will result in a much higher electricity bill. also, due to the excessive heat, you will use more water, which, if you have it already mixed with nutes in a resevoir for a hydroponic grow, will result in more expense. a 600w led will GROW MORE and COST LESS than a 600w hps or mh.

actually...a 600 watt cfl or led will not produce more weed than a 600 watt hps...even tho the type of light isnt just right what the plant wants,a 600 watt hps produces 90000(95 to 110K depending on bulb)lumens.They dont even make a led light that gets near that.Cfl bud grows come out "Fluffy" and so do led.A cfl bud th same size as a hps bud will way significantly less.and as for the light the plant takes in the newest hps bulbs are pretty close to exactly what the plant wants. try a CMH bulb

i had a hps and a cfl/led grow at the same time. both rooms growing clones from the same mother. both using same nutes but from separate tanks. 600w son t plus agro bulb on 1 side and 2x250w 8u cfls and 2x 56w super harvest led panels on the other. (this side has 12 watts extra power but its basically the same). at the end, factoring in ALL respective expenses, the cfl/led side was more efficient, more weight, less cost. 36grams extra@ 47 cent per gram cheaper to produce. i had 778gm in total
