Kudos to the new school and all, but there is just something about the way Schmidt skis that just does it for me. He's both powerful and so aggressive, yet he still has so much grace and fluid motion. Really watch how he skis, how he attacks the hill and still manages to let the hill come to him; poise and power ... The dude really could ski like nobody else ... In a lot of ways I liked his skiing style more so than Plakes, who was equally awesome as well
Schmidt is the reason I chose to become an extreme skier. I grew up racing on Mt. Hood (Meadows), but couldn't help but drift over to the extreme skiing scene......Every time I saw Scot ski, I wanted to skip the race and find some cornices to jump off.........Thanks for the inspiration Scot. Beauty.......
Gotta love the old school K2 extremes. I still have mine in the basement. They were 201's and paper thin. Took them out one day last winter and they still performed like a champ, after a good base grinding edge sharpening and re-balancing.
Scot Schmidt and Glen Plake started it all. Best extreme skiers of all time and both still alive to enjoy life. You guys are still a great inspiration never to be forgotten.
its amazing how he can carve those old beasts.

I was waiting to see his signature hip check.
Met him at a junior college viewing of one of his videos, very nice guy.

learning on skinnies all those years ago in the very early 80s put me in good stead and would love to see most skiers of today try to ski on them :o)

The Scott Schmidt stance. Not on sale. 3:43 take note how much weight is on the uphill ski. Don't try this at home. Great stuff, smit

technique is 99+%. little room for poor balance on 70-75mm skis.

this is incredible considering their skinny ass skis.
