Hey dude, great cover. I have a question though. When playing the 5-7-5-7 parts of the song (e.g 0:06-0:09), do you pick the string, or do you strum a couple of strings, muting all but the 4th string?
Most people mute, thumb over for the 6th string, I personally mute the 5th with the index play the notes on the 4th and index is resting ofer 3rd,2nd and 1st. Practice it slow you'll get the hang of it quickly.
got realllly muddy at the solo, so i cant honestly say if you did a good job or not. everything else was decent, its not too complicated of a song, aside from the solo. i suggest a decent line-in setup for the pc if you wanna record a lot, it works wonders for the sound.
i was wondering do you perhaps use earguitar to train your skills to learn songs by ear ? btw really great cover, best one ive seen so far, this inspired me to make one of Manic Depression to, will be up soon héhé, gj
I use a TASCAM CD-GT1 Guitar Trainer. It has a loop function, as well as a tempo adjust function that does not change the pitch. It's a huge help when "picking" out the notes.
I am playing an open A string, followed by the unison bends. I'm not muting the A string...just letting it die naturally. The unison bends drown out the A string anyway, I think. The good thing is, the A note is the dominant note during most of the song.
You're right, I must have been stoned when I sent that. When I play that part it seems like I get the D string ringing and it sounds bad. Any tips for that. Thanks, if I am ever able to play this great song it will be because of watching you play. Nobody plays Hendrix better on here.
The D string gets muted by the action of the unison bend (as I bend the G string upwards). So, if your bends are strong enough, it should take care of the D string problem. I am able to avoid the D string with careful picking/strumming, which helps.
There is a good lesson video on Vanderbilly dot com (a free site) for this song. I highly recommend it! =D
You're not playing! Jimi is standing behind you and watching your fingers while he's playing along with you as your fingers are making contact with the frets and your pick hits the strings. lol. Great post.
motorpsych0 : "Getting the correct "tone" on this one is difficult with the effects boxes I have"
it's true ..but i've a good sound with my handmade fuzz on this song..i've used it on my shortly red house video...however the sound is very very good!!
Hehe; no need to remake in my opinion bro; sounds already awesomly good !It's not about the camera but about the music&sound which are already perfect on this one ! =)
aw man that was great. i had a request if you could give a lesson on the solo to this one. slow it down, break it down show the parts. i think it would help me and a lot of other people. if you have time. peace.
Great cover!! its great to see people play these old classics still, all the best buddy :)
