  • Great cover!! its great to see people play these old classics still, all the best buddy :)

  • @theforegers : Thanks, man! =D

  • I was going to get a strat similar to that one but looked at the insides of it and there no electronics in it. :(

  • one of my favorite of jimi's absolutely loved the guitar part in this song.. you kicked ass man

  • @JeremyMoar : Thanks, man!

  • Only minor errors ( If you are really note by note playing ).

  • Excellent - really liked the outro - you caught the fire.

  • cool, felt a wee bit soul-less... untill you let the solo rip... hats off man

  • superb playing man

  • what effects are you using?

  • @rossman265 : No pedals used here. I kick in the lead channel on the Mesa DC-5. That's pure tube overdrive there!

  • what tunning is this in?

  • @irontuskman : Eb...half-step down.

  • brillent cover and sexy trouerses!:)

  • perfect tone, sweet attempt dude

  • As you have noticed, I dig JIMI too!

    Thanks again, KF! =)

  • nice cover where u get ur tabs from?

  • No tabs used here! I play by ear. =)

  • Hey dude, great cover. I have a question though. When playing the 5-7-5-7 parts of the song (e.g 0:06-0:09), do you pick the string, or do you strum a couple of strings, muting all but the 4th string?

  • @PedoAng

Most people mute, thumb over for the 6th string, I personally mute the 5th with the index play the notes on the 4th and index is resting ofer 3rd,2nd and 1st. Practice it slow you'll get the hang of it quickly.

  • SIkk cover man!!! , manic is one of my favorites from jimi, nice job on it :D if you can

check my video out on manic depression me and my band did an improv on it :D,

    rate and comment

  • manic depression is touching my soul! i know what i want but i just don't know how to go about gettin it!

    Thanks, 1superaton1!

  • ur welcome!

  • are your pants Vurt?

  • These are my cool-ass pajamas!

I was feeling lazy that day! =D

  • I wish i had the tabs of exactly how you played it..

  • It's not difficult. Just follow my video, and Jimi's vibe! =D

  • Great version! One of my faves- gotta have a strat for this one

  • Heck yeah! Only a Strat will do!

  • Wow dude, I love the tone from your Strat, very nice cover, five stars!

  • Thanks, GrantIsSoScene!

  • was ur whammy bar locked

  • No, it's not locked. But I do use all five springs, so the trem stays in place pretty well in spite of the bends.

    Thanks for watching, Bwoods612!

  • What kinda Strat is that o:?

  • It's a 1996 USA Strat w/CS Vintage '54 pickups (Fender 50th Anniversary model w/rare painted headstock).

    Thanks for watching, darkshage!

  • got realllly muddy at the solo, so i cant honestly say if you did a good job or not. everything else was decent, its not too complicated of a song, aside from the solo. i suggest a decent line-in setup for the pc if you wanna record a lot, it works wonders for the sound.

  • That is f..ing good version. I been listening so many times and it´s geting better and better every time, TKS.

  • You are too kind, PerttiKy!

This was my forth video ever posted on YouTube, and it's pretty rough! I think I will do it again someday, only better this time.

    Peace~

  • BTW nice Pajamas LOL

  • Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking when I sat down and recorded this in my PJ's. :P

It's all about Jimi for me!

  • very good bro i was just jamming on this my self ,didnt relise you posted this, bravo

  • i was wondering do you perhaps use earguitar to train your skills to learn songs by ear ? btw really great cover, best one ive seen so far, this inspired me to make one of Manic Depression to, will be up soon héhé, gj

  • I use a TASCAM CD-GT1 Guitar Trainer. It has a loop function, as well as a tempo adjust function that does not change the pitch. It's a huge help when "picking" out the notes.

Hey, I can't wait to see your video!

Thanks for watching my videos, Slockerd.

    Peace~

  • This is great. When you do the unison bends are you muting the A string with your thumb? Just curious.

  • Thanks, darealdjnutz!

I am playing an open A string, followed by the unison bends. I'm not muting the A string...just letting it die naturally. The unison bends drown out the A string anyway, I think. The good thing is, the A note is the dominant note during most of the song.

    Hope this helped.

    Keep jammin'! =D

    Peace~

  • You're right, I must have been stoned when I sent that. When I play that part it seems like I get the D string ringing and it sounds bad. Any tips for that. Thanks, if I am ever able to play this great song it will be because of watching you play. Nobody plays Hendrix better on here.

  • You're too kind, man! Thanks for that.

The D string gets muted by the action of the unison bend (as I bend the G string upwards). So, if your bends are strong enough, it should take care of the D string problem. I am able to avoid the D string with careful picking/strumming, which helps.

There is a good lesson video on Vanderbilly dot com (a free site) for this song. I highly recommend it! =D

  • Thanks, winkywoo23!

Yeah, Setzer rocks! It's all good. =D

    Peace~

  • You're not playing! Jimi is standing behind you and watching your fingers while he's playing along with you as your fingers are making contact with the frets and your pick hits the strings. lol. Great post.

  • Yeah, I guess I've been "found out"! =D

    Thanks for the comment, bro!

    Peace~

  • good cover and i like your guitar

  • Thanks, LEMONandtheWELDER!

    Yes, it's a '96 USA Strat. Hmmm...looks a lot like the WELDER'S! Nice.

    Peace~

  • motorpsych0 : "Getting the correct "tone" on this one is difficult with the effects boxes I have"

it's true ..but i've a good sound with my handmade fuzz on this song..i've used it on my shortly red house video...however the sound is very very good!!

  • Hey, I'll go over and watch your videos to check this out, and listen to the tone. Thanks!

    Peace.

  • you learned this by ear or a tab?

  • I play by ear, although I am sure there's tab for this out there somewhere.

    Thanks for watching, thatnerd92!

    Peace.

  • i was just wonderin that's really good for learning by ear

  • Love it :D

  • Thanks again, Cizzie888!

    Peace.

  • Really mate; just by hearing this you could say it's the original Song played by Jimi Hendrix !

You have some awesome talent for sure man and you sound like Jimi to !

    Respect & Rock on !

  • Thanks again, Spir!

I did this video last summer with a crappy little camera. I plan to re-make some of these using my newer video gear. The tone will be much better!

    Peace.

  • Hehe; no need to remake in my opinion bro; sounds already awesomly good !It's not about the camera but about the music&sound which are already perfect on this one ! =)

Rock on bro ; you got da soul for this music !

  • aw man that was great. i had a request if you could give a lesson on the solo to this one. slow it down, break it down show the parts. i think it would help me and a lot of other people. if you have time. peace.

  • Thanks, handsomedevilRo!

I'll give it some thought, bro! My solo isn't 'exactly' right (note for note), but close enough I guess. I'll get back with you later...

    Peace.

  • Great job thanks. Learned a lot for this.

  • im doing this song for a school of rock show coming up, and its pretty easy. you did i great job.

  • The "School of Rock" show sounds like fun! Get someone to make a video of the performance, and post it here! It can be your first video on YouTube!

I am pleased to hear that Jimi Hendrix's music is alive in the hearts of teens.

    Thanks for the comment, too!

  • Real Nice - Great Guitar Lesson for Hendrix Fans

  • Thanks! I kept it on the clean channel for most of the song. Not my best cover though. =P

  • Sounded like Jimi to me!!!!!!
