That 's flemish garden wall bond ,and it should be off the quoin 2 stretchers 1 header then header queen closer 3 stretchers 1 header . 33 years in the game and brought up on the Cutter books and WG Nash .

How long before a complete beginner can do a 6ft brick wall? nothing fancy but say garden wall or a simple square garage?

I would say that pretty much anyone could lay a good wall given enough time and care..

But it will probably take 10 times longer than a professional doing it ;P
