I own a BMW 335i right now, absolutely love it, but I'm selling it in a few months for an IS-F. I considered the M3, but I want something different after just owning a BMW. The IS-F was literally built to compete with the M3, so obviously they're both going to be virtually identical performance wise. They're both very impressive vehicles. Period.

Everyone knows IS-F is by far much faster than a 335i. It is also a tad faster up top than the JB3 tuned 335i with nothing else modified.
Everyone knows the IS-F in this video did not have unintended acceleration issue. IS-F as well as most other Lexus models do not have this problem except for maybe ES350 and some other "Toyota" models.

Well if you put it that way, the E46 M3 is actually .1 to .3 s slower than the 335i in drag. E92, no. So the E92 is fair game, but it will not beat the IS-F in a drag race. The E92 is electronically limited to 155 MPH, while the IS-F is limited to something like 167 or 168 MPH. In drag races, it's all about torque. The IS-F has some 50-60 lbs more torque through its rev range than the M3.
ownage2214, I need to make some correction on your statements. The IS-F's electronically limited top speed is 172 mph. Check R&T for reference. It'll go faster if the limiter is removed. And MORE importantly, it's not just the extra torque, it's the tighter gear ratios that will make the car go even faster. It'll shine more on the quarter mile and to the top speeds. You sound like a noob... ownage.

Here in Spain the lexus is 84.000 € fully loaded, the merc 75.000 and the beemer 77.000 euro. But if you add those all the stuff that comes standard on the is-f, they reach the 90.000 + euro. You can't seem to "prove" how the BMW engine is more advanced ... I love it. The reason the sedan is as quick as the IS-F is that it weighs almost 200 lbs less and launches with a manual advantage, as well as a launch control. There's a lot more to superiority than speed. Personally I think the BMW is nicer at a track and handles better, but the Lexus is better at everything else. Plus you haven't riden in an M product have you? Such a twitchy, brittle ride...ick.

They aren't in the same categories. The bmw is sportier but not as comfortable as the Lexus. The 2 that compete best is the c63 AMG and the is-f and trust me the C63 is better in all aspects except for fuel economy.

The M3 is overall sportier and faster(also more fun to drive) but the IS-F is more comfortable. The C63 is as comfortable as the IS-F but it's much faster on a straight line, and on a track too. For the price, the IS-F starts at 56 610$ in the United States while the BMW M3 price starts at 54 500$ and the C63 at 55 975$. Overall the best mix of comfort and sport is the C63 and it kills the IS-F.
In australia the lexus is-f costs $129000 fully optioned, the new e92 m3 with dct (base model) costs $170000. i would rather buy the nissan gtr which costs %160000
i donno about that. the AMG has to much power. it spins its wheels endlessly and isnt incredibly fast around a track. on top gear it only beat the RS4 (with 40 less HP)by half a second. tiff needel found the IS-F to be only a tenth of a second slower than the M3 around a track. its certainly a competitor to the M3. and IS's arent very big. they certainly arent as big as a c-class. they are about the same size as a 3 series. so the M3 is a Competitor to the IS-F. and i think they are both awsome.

Japaneses tried the M3, the IS-F and the C63 on a track, and they said that the M3 was the fastest, and the IS-F the slowest of the 3. Here in Canada ISF starts off at 64.5k base and 68.5 with all options. It's much cheaper the the M3 as it starts off at 70k base and I don't know how much the c63 base starts off but I'm sure it's pretty close with the M3 here in Canada. Add the options needed on the M3 we're looking around 84k CAD. Much more expensive then the ISF here.
You are right, M3s are more expensive, yet they are sportier. The C63 is closer to the IS-F : More comfortable, less steering feedback and it starts at 63.5k. In this case, I would clearly buy the C63.
Ya your right about the c63 being 63.5k base but when noone will buy the base model, add the amg performance package and premium package and all the goodies needed it still comes out at $75,575 and it's more then the ISF's price at 68.5 fully loaded. Don't get me wrong the C63 amg is a beautiful car but it's still more expensive then the ISF. I got my Lexus ISF at 71 taxed in while the C63 is 75.5k before tax here in Canada.
There are so many bias critiques against japanese luxury. All i know is the truth, that Lexus makes the best luxury cars and costs 10k less than its competing class. Is your 335i programmed? If so then the IS-F did pretty well... if your car is stock then the IS-F really didn't seem that fast.
Also... you guys were talking about stopping at 150-155... the 335i has a speed limiter @ 155, and I think the IS-F might as well, though a programmer would remove that.

Theres really no point defending an IS350, its just not up to the task of conquering a 335i. Perhaps it comes close in a straight line, but on a track, its way out of its depth. A 335i V2 chip is 1200 bucks, and makes the car good for a 12.6 straight off the bat. Go to Vishnutuning to check out the different packs. There is a new and improved chip being released very soon that will definitely make the 335i a 11 second machine.
The point isn't to defend one car over another. 335s are faster and overall sportier. The point is to dispel the myths that are being thrown around. Take you for instance, you say 12.6, the Vishnu website says 12.7. Yes, the stage 1 gains that extra tenth but its at a cost of 3grand(total). Is arguing over a tenth of a second worth anyones time? There are countless flames on here that do so and in the process deviate from the truth. I prefer to adhere to the facts and I get flamed for it.
Ive run a 12.40 in my Auto V2 Vishnu with Down pipe. I dont know what crap your on saying you can only run a 12.8 in one of these cars? plus the V1.4 is a very old iteration. I know Shiv ( the founder of vishnu) has run some very low 12 second passes in his personal 335i aswell.
M5board did some runs with a V2 335i with down pipe and some other light mods, and it beat the likes of M5s, Carrera S, E55 from 50-200km/h by 5 car lengths or more. These cars can be turned into mosters.
Im just going off of dragtimes. That is the fastest 335 there on 93 with a timeslip. If there are 335s running faster times, than the stats I provided are obviously out of date. Id like to point out however that modding goes both ways and that boltons for 335s are not cheap. Likewise, a downpipe is an open invitation for voiding the warranty. Also, given how much turbo cars are limited by gasoline, it's really important to compare apples to apples here(I know they break 11s on race gas + mods).

by the way, i ran 0-60 in my 335i STOCK 4.7 seconds. Car and driver, they did it in 4.8 but for the IS350 they did it in 5.2. I test drove both lexus and the 335i. Lexus is a nice car, very refined and confortable, but when it comes to sheer power and performance, the bmw takes it by far. The handling is not even comparable and the acceleration is faster. It makes sense too cause the bmw not only has 300 horsepower but 300 torque, while the lexis is350 has less then 300 torque........

by the way I've done 0 - 60 in my IS 350 in 4.9sec fully stock. as far as I've heard the fastest a stock 335i ran the 0 - 60 is 4.9sec. when you race an IS350, make sure the driver clicks the PWR button, because the IS350 gear ratio changes and it becomes a totally different car. I rarely use the PWR button cause the normal is fast enough and the PWR uses up so much premium fuel that i'm averaging about 12 - 14 mpg.

Well if you put it that way, the E46 M3 is actually .1 to .3 s slower than the 335i in drag. E92, no. So the E92 is fair game, but it will not beat the IS-F in a drag race. The E92 is electronically limited to 155 MPH, while the IS-F is limited to something like 167 or 168 MPH. In drag races, it's all about torque. The IS-F has some 50-60 lbs more torque through its rev range than the M3.

ownage2214, I need to make some correction on your statements. The IS-F's electronically limited top speed is 172 mph. Check R&T for reference. It'll go faster if the limiter is removed. And MORE importantly, it's not just the extra torque, it's the tighter gear ratios that will make the car go even faster. It'll shine more on the quarter mile and to the top speeds. While i agree that torque is a major factor in drag races, these cars arent made for just straight line speed, but overall performance; handling, speed, comfort and all that.

I was referring to top speeds in the highway, not in the drag strip you stupid purpleslyrpee. The point of these videos (335i vs IS-F) is to show how much faster the IS-F gets in the highway speeds. Not only the extra torque but also closely spaced gears on the IS-F makes it go faster. This is why it is faster than the new M3. I wasn't talking about in the road course tracks. Even in the tracks there's not much difference in laptimes anyways. btw, your name sounds gay, faggot.

Here in Spain the lexus is 84.000 € fully loaded, the merc 75.000 and the beemer 77.000 euro. But if you add those all the stuff that comes standard on the is-f, they reach the 90.000 + euro. Are you that clueless on cars? Displacement means nothing. Torque is the natural result of displacement, which the Bimmer doesn't have. The M3 has only 295 lb-ft, the Lexus has 371 lb-ft. The Lexus makes its top end power after 6000 rpm, you'll be wringing the crap out of the M3 to get it past 8000 ... and then the redline is at max power! How pathetic. You don't understand the differences between the engines.
And yes a Camry would crush a Cooper S, and more than by a little.

Lol you're the stupid person. I'm not saying that 4L is better than 5L but the engine in the BMW is far more advanced than the ''Yamaha'' engine in the Lexus. There are only 295lb-ft of torque but the Lexus isn't faster than the M3 Sedan, even if the bmw has a lot less amount of torque.

Anyway, the best car that compete with the IS-F is the C63 AMG, and trust me it's a lot more powerful.

You can't seem to "prove" how the BMW engine is more advanced ... I love it. The reason the sedan is as quick as the IS-F is that it weighs almost 200 lbs less and launches with a manual advantage, as well as a launch control. There's a lot more to superiority than speed. Personally I think the BMW is nicer at a track and handles better, but the Lexus is better at everything else. Plus you haven't riden in an M product have you? Such a twitchy, brittle ride...ick.
The AMG is my favorite ;)

They aren't in the same categories. The bmw is sportier but not as comfortable as the Lexus. The 2 that compete best is the c63 AMG and the is-f and trust me the C63 is better in all aspects except for fuel economy.

The M3 is overall sportier and faster(also more fun to drive) but the IS-F is more comfortable. The C63 is as comfortable as the IS-F but it's much faster on a straight line, and on a track too. For the price, the IS-F starts at 56 610$ in the United States while the BMW M3 price starts at 54 500$ and the C63 at 55 975$. Overall the best mix of comfort and sport is the C63 and it kills the IS-F.

i donno about that. the AMG has to much power. it spins its wheels endlessly and isnt incredibly fast around a track. on top gear it only beat the RS4 (with 40 less HP)by half a second. tiff needel found the IS-F to be only a tenth of a second slower than the M3 around a track. its certainly a competitor to the M3. and IS's arent very big. they certainly arent as big as a c-class. they are about the same size as a 3 series. so the M3 is a Competitor to the IS-F. and i think they are both awsome.

Here in Canada ISF starts off at 64.5k base and 68.5 with all options. It's much cheaper the the M3 as it starts off at 70k base and I don't know how much the c63 base starts off but I'm sure it's pretty close with the M3 here in Canada. Add the options needed on the M3 we're looking around 84k CAD. Much more expensive then the ISF here.

Ya your right about the c63 being 63.5k base but when noone will buy the base model, add the amg performance package and premium package and all the goodies needed it still comes out at $75,575 and it's more then the ISF's price at 68.5 fully loaded. Don't get me wrong the C63 amg is a beautiful car but it's still more expensive then the ISF. I got my Lexus ISF at 71 taxed in while the C63 is 75.5k before tax here in Canada.

Also... you guys were talking about stopping at 150-155... the 335i has a speed limiter @ 155, and I think the IS-F might as well, though a programmer would remove that.

Theres really no point defending an IS350, its just not up to the task of conquering a 335i. Perhaps it comes close in a straight line, but on a track, its way out of its depth. A 335i V2 chip is 1200 bucks, and makes the car good for a 12.6 straight off the bat. Go to Vishnutuning to check out the different packs. There is a new and improved chip being released very soon that will definitely make the 335i a 11 second machine.

The point isn't to defend one car over another. 335s are faster and overall sportier. The point is to dispel the myths that are being thrown around. Take you for instance, you say 12.6, the Vishnu website says 12.7. Yes, the stage 1 gains that extra tenth but its at a cost of 3grand(total). Is arguing over a tenth of a second worth anyones time? Ive run a 12.40 in my Auto V2 Vishnu with Down pipe. I dont know what crap your on saying you can only run a 12.8 in one of these cars? plus the V1.4 is a very old iteration. I know Shiv ( the founder of vishnu) has run some very low 12 second passes in his personal 335i aswell.
M5board did some runs with a V2 335i with down pipe and some other light mods, and it beat the likes of M5s, Carrera S, E55 from 50-200km/h by 5 car lengths or more. These cars can be turned into mosters.

Im just going off of dragtimes. That is the fastest 335 there on 93 with a timeslip. If there are 335s running faster times, than the stats I provided are obviously out of date. Id like to point out however that modding goes both ways and that boltons for 335s are not cheap. Likewise, a downpipe is an open invitation for voiding the warranty. Also, given how much turbo cars are limited by gasoline, it's really important to compare apples to apples here(I know they break 11s on race gas + mods).

by the way, i ran 0-60 in my 335i STOCK 4.7 seconds. Car and driver, they did it in 4.8 but for the IS350 they did it in 5.2. I test drove both lexus and the 335i. Lexus is a nice car, very refined and confortable, but when it comes to sheer power and performance, the bmw takes it by far. The handling is not even comparable and the acceleration is faster. It makes sense too cause the bmw not only has 300 horsepower but 300 torque, while the lexis is350 has less then 300 torque........

by the way I've done 0 - 60 in my IS 350 in 4.9sec fully stock. as far as I've heard the fastest a stock 335i ran the 0 - 60 is 4.9sec. when you race an IS350, make sure the driver clicks the PWR button, because the IS350 gear ratio changes and it becomes a totally different car. I rarely use the PWR button cause the normal is fast enough and the PWR uses up so much premium fuel that i'm averaging about 12 - 14 mpg.

he only had the lead because he had it in drive and it was slow on down shifting. but the 335i let off until he got back on it

that makes absolute sense. tune the 335i and it will beat a stock IS-F, even though i doubt it. anyway, don't be a cry baby. if you're going to tune one car, race another tuned car. it's like me complaining that if i tuned the IS-F i would beat a lamborghini gallardo even though they're in 2 different classes just like the 335i vs the IS-F

wow, you're such a tool. a tuned car can always be tuned to be faster than a stocked rival car. quit your yapping and quit comparing a 335i with 300 hp to a 416 hp is-f. m3 is the direct rival.
