The Crusades got started mainly because the Byzantine Emperor requested help against the Turks.
The first crusade got powned by the 17 year old Sultan named Arslan. Arslans father had conquered big parts of Byzantine lands. The byzantine Christians were getting woned by the Turks so they asked for help.
Many details are missing in this to give it another appearance. As if Christians were brutal thieves who stole their land. They left out how the Holy Wars were actually started to offer protection for Christian pilgrims being robbed and killed by islamic bandits, and caliphates refused to stop it.
Also, going by this version, then is it ok for Europe to wage war on arabs and muslims for taking over their land as well?

Those who didn't convert had to pay the tax and were second class citizens. You refer to the battle of Manzikert I believe--my spelling is wrong I'm sure. The Byzantines resorted to a lot of trickery and played the Crusaders against the Muslims and vice versa for their own interests. They lost vast territories to Islam.

Those who didn't convert had to pay the tax and were second class citizens. You refer to the battle of Manzikert I believe--my spelling is wrong I'm sure. The Byzantines resorted to a lot of trickery and played the Crusaders against the Muslims and vice versa for their own interests. They lost vast territories to Islam.

Crusades had solved nothing instead they deepened the problems among religions.
In Crusades there were heavy costs for Christians. They had lost many armies. For intance
during crusades of 1101 they lost three big armies in Anatolia and They even couldn't reach
Jarusalem. Crusaders were only succesfull in the crusade of 1097 that they could take
Jarusalem and established a crusade state. But after that there ware big failures. I hope there shall be understanding eachother among religions.

@gaziosman67 Crusades do not cost the Christian. On the other hand, they gained a dearly amount of wealth by sacking cities and villages on their way to Jerusalem ( even Christian and Othodox cities ) (Constantinope was the biggest sack that even the Pope had to excommunicate them ). In fact, many Crusaders (especially the Kings and the nobles ) were inspired by the riches of the Muslim not by their faith.
