  • Do not quite understand why it is so moving to me.

  • 这是自学成才的吗,三弦弹的真好啊。

  • 王广财

  • he is great. I wish i will be as good as him one day.

  • wonderful, spontaneous, loved it, thanks for uploading

  • This is more expressive than what I expected. I read that the repertoire for the sanxian is limited and that few people play it.

  • Here are the lyrics:
  • Almost reminds me of appalachian bluegrass.I dig on music like this

  • i love this instriment it has suck a great unique sound it and sanisen are ace

  • This man is Wang Gung Cai. My pals and I met him walking down the road by Simatai, a fairly un-touristy part of the Great Wall, where he lives. He's an absolutely lovely guy and a great player. It's such a pleasure to find him on YT. Google "Blue Mountain Ramblers in China, page 2" for an account of our meeting him.

  • REALLY GREAT!!!

  • this is the best Sanxian performance I've seen. It seems almost all chinese "folk" music you find is performed by performance monkeys sweating, staring at sheet music with impeccable technique.

This is totally chill. Thanks for uploading.

  • @spastikman

Isnt it wonderful to just see and hear ordinary everyday people playing and singing music? It think it sounds much more beautiful. Sure, the "concert" stuff is nice too but this is just amazing and shows the true character that music isnt just something meant for conservatories.

  • he sounds fuckin beautiful! not even gonna lie

+50 epic points for being blind and ROCKING OUT!

  • tabs? haa

  • Here's Abstract of lyrics: Outside this gate Father played when small. 3 sparse meals, and a bowl of tea. Uneventful years he passed, With hidden tears. I returned from overseas. Scenery outside the gate unchanged. It's beauty now I see. I ordered a bowl of tea. Why? For its smooth aroma. Everlasting aroma.
  • @wkl168 Do you know the lyrics in Chinese? I can't hear most of them over the instrument.

  • @wkl168

Brings tears to my ears listening to him. Great performer!

  • could he possibly be of Manchu extraction? I read Norther Chinese, is this type of music common to the north east provinces?

  • This is contemporary popular song titled "Thoughts Outside the Gate-Large Bowl of Tea". Music by Yao Ming (not of the Rockets). Lyrics by someone else. Enter 门前情思——大碗茶 in YouTube search to listen to other performances.

  • Great performance. His tuning to low D is so nice. Is he singing pingtan (评弹)?

  • no, Suzhou pingtan is another art form which is popular in the Province of jiangsu, and it's often performed by two, this video is showing the music of beijing mostly, it's called 京韵大鼓, this version is on sanxian solo

  • This seems a light 京韵大鼓. The other video of an older lady's performance in youtube is deep and more Pekingese.

  • Woo hoo, it's like the country music!!

  • the song title is 《门前情思——大碗茶》you can go online to search for the lyrics

  • Thank you. I was able to find the Chinese lyrics, but YouTube wouldn't accept it here because it was too long.

  • Awesome!

  • Oh this is northren chinese.Wonderful I love it! sorry I dont know the lyrics my chinese is terrible!
