  • Thks U

  • I can imagine the thought, planning and effort that went into making this. When I saw you "sleeping" in the pod in the opening scene, I thought this was going to be a spoof of the movie (most of which are not very good). But I was pleasantly surprised and it was great to see the "then and now" comparison of the sets. Well done!

  • very good documentary.

  • Amazing work. Really fun seeing the comparisons. I love this film to bits! You should get paid for these kinds of videos.

  • @SuperODST1 He was writing " I CAN TALK" but Dr. Zaius seen it and scratched it away with his walking stick.

He knew man was on the planet first but for some reason they destroyed themselves and became slaves.

He wanted to keep it a secret from the apes, guerrilas and chimpanzees.

    This is a great video.

It is always cool to see where they filmed this great movie.

  • @JetMechMA Correction, left in 1972...arrived in 2012....40 years later, relative to ship's time.

  • great job.

  • As a lifelong fan of this film, from the day I saw it in 1968 to today, I declare this project to be excellant and brillant. Well done sir!

  • too cool...

  • My favorite ending of all time was when Charlton Heston slammed his fist down on the button, that denotated the bomb, using the entire atmosphere to create an end to more of the same world/society bullshit, that he took a moment see would just go on and on.

  • Awesome vid Thanks

  • I thought your work on this project was absolutely incredible.... I could tell a lot of time when into it..... fantastic to watch it. Thanks for sharing!!!

  • Wow...great.

  • Wow, you can really see the detail in the film and the loss of quality on the video.

  • cool.

  • Incredible. Thank you!

  • What a cool video. Thanks man!

  • FANTASTIC job matching the scenes.....I remember seeing this in 1968, and the ending stunned the audience into absolute silence; never before or since have I experienced that - still a powerful movie.

  • @ChrisK529 I understand the power of the ending. Realizing that after all that time, the movie takes place in New Jersey. Stunning!

  • they should do part one of the origanal planet of the apes all over only use updated actors and modern ape graphics and same cool music, and same sceens now that would be a huge hit...

  • nice going dude

  • That is incredible, nice job on matching up locations. You can really tell where everthing was with the same background geography.

  • This is fantastic and very interesting! Thanks so much for posting this!

  • Wow, its amazing just how much the landscape can change in as little as 45 years or so.

  • Amazing! Good job. Congratulations from Brazil.

  • This is the coolest thing I have ever seen!

  • that was awesome! thanks for taking the time to film on the locations and for sharing

  • Great job - well done! My favourite movie of all time!

  • @MamaHot14

HEY THIS IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME TOO

I WAS LIKE 8 WHEN I FIRST SAW IT AND GOT SO IMPRESS !

  • Awesome mate! It's a bloody good work indeed.

  • I've always been fascinated with Planet of the Apes. I was born the same year this movie was released - 1968 the Year of the Monkey. The score by Jerry Goldsmith is the most chilling soundtrack ever. It must have been an awesome experience travelling to these locations. Love the then and now transitions. It's neat to see how they built their sets around the geography. Great work!

  • Absolutely stunning!!! Man that's a LOT of work my friend. The piece is well edited, photographed, concieved!! You have PERFECT registration in the matching of your angles and positions to the film's footage! I am curious, what editing system are you using? Steve :)

  • Clever.

  • que tal chambaza excelente trabajo felicitaciones desde cusco - peru y muchisimas gracias por compartirlo

  • AWESOME !

  • Love it.One of my fav films thanks.

  • I would like to know why there are three people that have voted thumbs down for this video? It does not deserve a negative rating at all. They have know idea how much work, research, and camera skills it took to pull this off. I think it is a very professional production that deserves a lot of credit !! Keep em coming Herve and your work will be rewarded one day.

  • Hey Herve I think your on to something here. I have never seen anyone do what you have done. Lots more movies to explore the on set, to present time. I was thinking of some westerns, but I see you already have that covered with Dances with wolves. Maybe Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, or Capricorn one? Excellent work Man !! I will look forward to seeing your next venture.

  • Bravo! Great job!

  • EXELLENT.......

  • Wonderful job on tracking these sites down. How many, if any, Malibu canyon locales correspond to shooting sites for M*A*S*H?

  • Great video, love the fade in and fade outs of the Planet of the Ape sets and scenes with the new video. Now I know where to go on vacation next year!

  • WOW! This video is awesome. Done with almost a religious devotion. I know it was TONS of work! Good eye!I love the movie and seeing this vid made me love it more...thanks

  • This is fantastic! You should be given professional recognition for this very well done piece of work. How were you able to access the difficult/remote areas?

  • Great job! I live in Utah and I've always loved the Ape-lore at Lake Powel. I heard that the spaceship that was sunk for the film is still on the bottom of the lake. How cool would that be to find it and pull it up. It's just a wooden frame with metal sheets on it, but it could be intact still.

  • FANTASTIC just great...gotta love POTA and all its locations...Great Job...cant imagine how you were able to get to those remote areas.

  • Well done. How did you find these locations? What are some of you future projects?

  • Nice to see the statue is still there ! That'll confuse future archaeologists - 2 statues of liberty - one in new york & one on a beach somewhere ;^>

  • very nice work , congratulations.

  • Outstanding job Herve !!! Great work and imagination. Well done !!!

  • Fantastic, really enjoyed it, fab vid !

  • This was GREAT! I really enjoyed it! Good job on this!

  • Unreal work. Great!

  • at 9:34, u went a litte to far from the rocks

  • wow....how in the hell did you do all that work.....that was really amazing stuff...

  • wow....really a nice piece of work...that was amazing...

  • great video

  • OUTSTANDING!

  • Outstanding! Great Job!

  • Brilliant. I can't remember another film where the audience broke into spontaneous applause at the end. Most were on their way out before the National Anthem started...

    Well done HerveAttia.

  • Brilliant job on this! Very thorough. I've been to the Fox Ranch locations many times myself. I sure wish Fox would use your video as a supplement/extra on a future DVD release. Congrats on a GREAT job!

  • @5.01 looks like Obama's Illegal immigrant aunt.

  • Woooow, very good. Greetings from Germany.

  • hahaha....awesome!

  • Great job! I like to replicate other peoples photos in the way you do video, though yours here are way more extensive. Must have been A LOT of work getting the angles/positions and focal length right. Your transitions between movie and your shots are sweet too!

  • @HerveAttia This is so neat, how the filming location's of the " Planet of the Apes " 1968 , look now or around may 2010 when your video was released Its amazing how recognizable the "Apes" filming locals are considering 42 years have gone by and the west coast dynamic geology I know they have location information Internet Movie Data Base but how did you find the exact like camera positions on rocks at Lake Powell UT. and the beach South CA Pacific coast Great work Herve thanks!

  • Lake Powell UTAH. UTAH!

  • @ledzeprhcpcure You are right. The lake spans partly in Arizona and mostly in Utah. The spaceship landing scene was shot in Arizona side.
