  • As the hodgetwins would say "definitely gonna snap his shit"

  • @3151984Chris this is what i thought of before i even glanced at the comments

  • @3151984Chris ahhh i dont think the hodgetwins know shit compared to a world class shotputter and his coach lmao

  • Shoulder rehab? The shoulder is in classic dislocation position and 225 pounds!

  • Military Presses are my favorite exercise.

  • Was it as easy as it looked, some power man

  • NEVER EVER EVER DO BEHIND THE HEAD SHOULDER PRESS!!!! unless you like straining your neck!

  • Normally red signifies a 25 kg olympic plate. But these appear to be non standard size, hence non standard weight. If they are 25lb plates, then he's lifting 145 as someone else mentioned. 145 for behind neck press is no biggie for a shot putter in good shape but perhaps a decent weight to use in rehab.

So the coach is saying, "two twenty-fives" rather than "225".

  • @LaszloBencze pause at 0:36 it clearly says 45lb = 225 weight

  • @wylzorz Well I took the image into PhotoShop to study it more closely and though indistinct, it does appear to say "45 lbs". So it would be 225. But it is definitely non standard to have a 45 lb plate be red. I'd like to know what brand these are. Best I can make out it says "KR MBUR" on the plate. Can you recognize this brand?

  • @LaszloBencze This was filmed at the University of Georgia athletic training facility. The plates are Kraiburg solid rubber bumper plates. They are not standard olympic color. UGA's weights are done in school colors - red and black. These are 45 lb. plates on a 45 lb. olympic bar, with spin lock collars. Total weight is actually a little over 225.

  • @steelblue58 Thanks for the explanation. I've never encountered the Kraiburg brand anywhere. And I've never heard of plates being manufactured to order in school colors. Talk about confusing! But then you're obviously not hosting international weightlifting meets so who cares what color they are. I would recommend though explaining the unusual weights whenever you post something on YouTube.

  • @LaszloBencze Yeah, I had never heard of this brand either until UGA got them. By the way, I didn't post this video, I just happen to be familiar with the facility where it was filmed. I can tell you that Reese has a way of making heavy things look lighter. When he trains, the big men stop and stare.

  • pshhh i did that last week in my dream.

  • Behind the neck presses are terrible for the shoulder. Can cause rotator cuff tear and AC joint issues. Incline bench press is much better as it is the natural movement for the shot put and works more front and middle deltoid. Reese gets away with this because of his barrell chested build. A tall lanky thrower would eventually get injured training this exercise over 175-200. As a formal world class thrower with each shoulder having been operated on, I speak with experience as I have benched 51

  • @drbudiman There is no big difference, since you can do dumbell shoulder press too. It´s same results.I too do press behind neck with barbell. But instead with bench and my back on the support.

  • people dont really do behind the neck now a days because it can tear your ro. cuff easy even though it is better then doing it it the front=[

  • He's Beefy.

  • i can barely get 185 on that lift.. and hes rehabing T_T

  • average weight. pfft i rep that on the squat rack..

  • @Nippon1971 yes just because you can't do that it means he uses steroids. 225 is not a crazy amount to shoulder press for a thrower. Now the normal person probably will not be doing 225 for rehab but if you know how to workout and put in the effort it is a very reachable goal.

  • @Nippon1971 no, he's not - he's an olympic athlete.

  • @Nippon1971 what the fuck! olympic testing is the toughest in the world to get past, and that weight is fuck all for the average man,

  • i hate militarys.... they hurt when you do them right... but i loved them when i was doing 185 for 10 :D

  • He was asking for it with that. Smith-machine behind the neck press would be far safer.

  • @HighCardWins smith machines are for pussies

  • @mvax Tell that to all the top bodybuilders who use them in training.

  • @HighCardWins haha bodybuilding is for pussies too

  • @mvax Why are you watching workout videos?

  • @HighCardWins I agree in general, but shot putting requires stabilizing force that mostly comes from free weights.

  • @aeiou99999 Yeah, I know. :)

  • BEAST....

  • Id like to shake that mans hand, beast... except he would probably brake it off then throw it and id have to go get it

  • FUck…….

  • terrible exercise for shoulder rehab LOL

  • 120k =265

  • @willieKroch actually 220lbs

  • A good single for the normal shoulder press is your body weight.

  • is BTN better than front?

  • 225 for shoulder rehab? Thanks for making me feel like a bitch hoffa

  • @samauripizzacats101 he said in the video that they were 25's...but thats still a lot at 145!

  • @SavingPrivateBrian Pretty sure he actually said 225, as in 2 X 45 per side plus the weight of the bar.

  • @samauripizzacats101 I LOVE ROIDS LOLOL YEAH BUDDY :)

  • Olympic athlets are about results, forget about showing off, no one works as hard as them.

  • @desolationofsmaug In non-american countries the only plates we use are 25kg(red), 20kg(blue), 15kg(yellow), 10kg(green). I've used 50kg plates which are red also. The plates this guy is using look really fat, like 50s. Obviously he isn't pressing 220kg btn overhead though. Since it's in america I would say they aren't standard olympic plates, just funny coloured/shaped 45s. So he is prob pressing 225lbs or 100kg

  • @asss2grass lol they are bumper plates. we use them in non-american countries too :)

  • They look like 50s. 4x50(plates) + 1x20(bar) = 220kg

  • QUESTION. Is it 225 kgs or lbs?

  • Did you seee his form. My goodness when the bar is maby 95 lbs my form goes off tune but hoffa, PERFECT

  • Wow..

  • 125kg?? is soo much!!

  • shot poot ? loll

  • GAY SPORT

  • @MrMusclefish Fuck off

  • BTN presses help condition the shoulder joint to withstand the demand of intense throwing.

  • Wtf...behind the neck press rehab with 225 :O I just shat my pants

  • "i gotta rehab my shoulder ill lower the weight to 225 lbs"

    holy crap hes a beast!

  • At less this dude is drug free..........unlike those germans

  • HOLLY SHIIT!.thats crazy!

  • 100 kg?? omg..

  • Shoulder rehab?!?! Fuck...mine would crack...

  • @Sghez83 LMAO

  • @Sghez83 Yeah I am still (recovering) from rotator cuff operation after two yrs.

Watching him do those movements makes me cringe.

  • Awesome shot put video. Here is a trailer about a shot put movie that's actually coming to theaters. watch?v=ERhIWSsGbFM

  • wtf!!!! his shoulder is just recovering and he can do that much??? holy shit......

  • 225 like nothing......

  • this guy desurves a shit load of respect for hauling 10+lbs 80+ft that dosent sound like alot but thats ridiculous

  • @horrorundead Try 16 lbs, 70+ feet. Far more impressive. I can throw a 10 lb shot 80+ feet,

  • Lol I'm 16 and I hit 215 for 8 reps easy

  • @PeterTheOstrich

    I'm 12 and I hit 216 for 9 reps lol

  • Those are 45lbs plates so it's 225, as the description says...

  • Watch Kevin Levrone PBN with four plates a side!!

  • @PhoeniciaRemembered theres loads of bbers stronger than him and powerlifters not saying he is nt strong but dont overrate

  • 4 plates of 25 kg + 20 kg bar = 120 kg = 264 pounds...

  • that looks correct

  • i think he'd be better off using dumbells. I have an injury to my shoulder & dumbells are much easier on your shoulder than barbells.

  • Beast.

  • Interesting... Wouldn't dumbbell shoulder press or high incline dumbbell press better simulates shot put movement.

  • What is the first thing they say? in the video?

  • No, it sucks. Do you only use your shoulder when you shot put? Then you shouldn't isolate.. You should only isolate if you are rehabing.

  • false

  • OK in the shot at the end u use a bench pressing movement.... how do u not isolate the bench press? brb inventing a new lift that lets me use my legs + bench at same times...ur stupid wat u said is dumb. He DID say he had problems with his shoulder and is rehabing.

  • @magiata93

Have a firm grip on the bar and spread your knees. Have tight shoulders and a tight back, then push through the ground with your feet as your bring the weight up in a very explosive manner. There you go, idiot. Also, bench isn't about how much weight you do, it's about how much force production you yield in terms of athletics.

  • @magiata93

unless you start you bench-press from your ears you dont actually do a bench press movement in a shot put at all.

  • Erikpc you dumb shit its 120kgs 4 reds = 100 and the bar is 20.. I dont see what the deal is i do this for warmups..140 kgs is my best for 10 reps

  • liftin all dis wieght an rehabn

  • dont see what the big deal is. I do this weight on standing shoulder press for 12 reps

  • OMG lets have sex

  • They are not clean repetitions, it's based more on strength.

  • I got to 90kg once

  • fuck me

  • No matter what you say about his looks, he's doing military press with 100kg for sets with a good form and he's not a bodybuilder. To be honest, most of the professional bodybuilders dont even press that much. He deserves respect. He is strong.

  • it's actually 120kg...

  • it's 102kg ;)

  • Comment removed

  • Well they are American, so they wouldn't use kilograms. The description says '225' as in, two hundred and twenty five, not 2 x 25kg. There are 2.2lbs in a kilogram, so 225 / 2.2 = 102kg :)

  • was he pressing 225 total?

  • LOL? check out some vids my friend, and you'll see you're quite wrong :) But anyways.. the guy lifts bar=20/22kg and the red weightplates = 25kg.. = 110kg. its impressive indeed. but the BBs lift way much more ;)

  • you realise that he is stronger than most roided up bodybuilders? Also that weight is for shoulder rehabilitation ;-)

  • =110 kg, you're not into mathematics are you?

  • hahaa, how in hell could I calculate that wrong.. just made myself laugh ;-) have a nice day fokes!

  • how do u add? 4*25=100

    100+20=120

  • @nick138meyers sorry but were not in junior high. the standard bar is 45 lbs and those are 45 lb plates, so that is 225 lbs

  • @thepunisherarmy not sure if serious...most pro bodybuilders do 315+ for easy reps

kai green does 405 for reps

branch warren did 315 for 20 reps

  • @thepunisherarmy you are fucking right

  • @thepunisherarmy Right on 1,000 times over. That's what separates the BB's

from the power lifters, not that BB isn't legit.........the BB's that have trained as

powerlifters have a definite edge. Any BB that hasn't, and can press that much

in that movement, is a natural exception, almost without exception, not that you

don't know this already :). The best I have seen personally when I was powerlifting in the 70's, was Ken Patera who could push a 540 incline press

    with a pause.

  • @thepunisherarmy He's a real athlete. He can run, jump, and he's really strong

  • @thepunisherarmy 120 k :D

  • @thepunisherarmy By the way I think it's 120kg not 100kg !!

  • @thepunisherarmy that's because body builders are big, not too usefully powerful

  • @thepunisherarmy thats because bodybuilding has literally not one thing to do with how strong you are, its the shaping of the muscles

  • @ToddwynTheGreat they are also just a bunch of faggots

  • i agree the dude looks a lil fat but at least when his shirt is off his stomach doesnt look all nasty with stretch marks and wobbly ass skin

  • damn strong and perfect form! gj :P

  • omg if this red plate is 25kg he is pushing around 125kg with only his hands, i use legs and i only cant do them once xD

  • he is indeed a fatboy s even he'd say, but he has alot of shape. I think alot of his bulge is muscle. For example, a good deal of his gut might just be huge abs. he's one of my heros

  • LOL!

  • i messed my shoulders for 5 years due to neck presses, no thanks

  • how so

  • are you sure it was the exercise and not your technique that messed your shoulder? should not be a problem if done correctly

  • do in front of the head regular pressing

  • lol

  • I bet these guys do a lot of overhead squats to work that 90 degrees position.

  • shoulder re-hab xD!!!!!!!

  • omfg

  • i thought the behind the neck press is bad for you

  • actually it really is bad for you. its good to do them once every other week. if you do them a lot, it will tear up your should joints. trust me, i know

  • Awsone strenth here!

Never had a problem...aleays warm up/head up/breath..actualy safer than back jerk.

Too many too often will make you very tight..do a pyramid using periodization program.

    Throw far!

  • everyone made a good point. They often tell beginners never to do them because there are other options instead of doing them and suually people will do them with poor posture. Keep in Good Posture and dont over do it and u'll be okay.

  • there is no need to do them behind the neck when you can train your shoulders with regular overhead presses

  • It works the posterior deltoids, and it means he can go lower.

  • strong

  • YEA buddy!!!
