I've been playing ArmA2 for a year now. Had it on the shelf cause ArmA one sucked after 3 days. My search was for something that made me feel the original Ghost Recon feel of tactical gameplay. COD4 was not GR, but its fun. I finally opened the ArmA 2 box. That was last year. I still play ArmA2. It's that GR feeling from 2001 plus 10. The voice acting is the worst. I just purchased OFP2 Dragon Rising. Let's see.

I'm not just talking about graphics. I'm sure they could shovel those onto the consoles & mask it with all kinds of postprocessing.

What I'm talking about is the editor, the scripting engine, the massive hit your CPU takes from the complex AI. The 225 sq km map, with limitless(as many as your CPU can take) units wherever and whenever you want them. Trying to do something like the large 1,500 AI battle would cause an insta RROD on the Xbox. :P

And even beyond that, there are waaaay too many controls to fit onto a 20 button controller. The command system would be atrocious on a gamepad. (Memorize numbers, & you can enter commands lightning fast....not possibel on a gamepad) the whole game was build with keyboard/mouse/joystick in mind & it just wouldn't work on a console with 5 year old hardware & a very limited control interface.

And don't forget, the main appeal of ARMA is the editor & the mods, neither of which would be logical to try and do on the consoles. WHy even port it if you can't have the editor or mods?

Well, they would have to minimize(sp?) it A LOT, I mean, u cant have the 1500 AI, but u could have it something like battlefield bad company multiplayer, 16 guys, and u could do the editor, not as the pc version, but it could be done, like, halo´s forge, u put a pair of spawn points here, and another bunch here, and determine which is russians and who is US.

Hahaha. The editor isn't that simple. It's not as simple as something like forge. It relies heavily on text scripting & config files. Something that can't be done on the consoles. If you're gonna cut the number of guys down to 16....then what's the point of even porting it over? I don't think the PVP would be strong enough to stand on it's own like that. There are much better "games" to play if you want an 8 on 8 deathmatch. This is more of a simulator meant for large scale co-op.

Arma2 is a great game and will be the most realistic war for many years to come. A quick fyi if you didn't already know though, is that turning head bob off can really make the movement in arma2 a lot smoother and more bearable
